Hard to justify making a big position player trade with the pitching staff in much greater need. If Royce can finally stay healthy for half a season, a top 3 starter is definitely much more important for a playoff run.

Who in the name of heaven are we going to trade? Do we have anybody that's got a good enough upside to give them? How much money would that cost? We need pitching. We need someone who can consistently throw innings and we don't have to worry about a meltdown. You need veteran pitching in that clubhouse to settle the young guys down. That's never going to happen because Mickey mouse and Donald duck and the polad brothers don't want to spend any money. So I will never go to the world series

Maybe someone would take a flyer on Kiriloff? If Kepler can continue hitting for a while before he reverts to his .235 career average, he might be the only Twin who could bring a decent player. Do NOT trade Emmanuel Rodriguez or Brooks Lee or Walker Jenkins because they are your starting RF, 2B and CF of the future, maybe as early as next year.

As much as I’d love Bauer on the twins he’s probably got one more year and if nobody signs him by next year nobody will, he clearly is still good enough to compete but nobody wants him for outside reasons

The Twins are not trading for Vladdy lol 🤣 wishful thinking. Did you forget who owns the team? He’s going to New York, Houston or another big name team. IF the Twins are active at the trade deadline, they will trade for a mediocre player who is injury prone. If you recall, last year, they were first in the division and didn’t trade for anybody.

Trade the Mets for Luis Severino, Adam Ottovino and Harrison Bader. Probably could get all three (or 2 of the 3) for a very good value. All 3 are rentals as they all have expiring contracts at very reasonable deals . Probably trade all 3 for Gabriel Gonzalez and each would make a significant contribution to this years squad. If they play well, extend them.

@sainttroglodyte Mahle was a bad trade... They traded 2 top 100s for a broken arm. Probably don't even have to give up Gonzalez for them. I like players who need to produce on a contract year. Severino has so much upside, Ottavino has a ton of big game experience, and Bader is a steady bat who is a top 10 defensive outfielder. Swinging for the fences for Vladdy is nonsense.

@sainttroglodyte This team will never be a playoff winning team unless they get very crafty and lucky. With this teams track record on prospects (especially pitching) I really wouldn't rely on the farm system coach up players. Also, they always seem to have a major injury before they even get called up. Don't know if it's a conditioning problem or if they just wait too long to get them up to major league performance. I would hate for Royce and Correa to have a hot second half, to fizzle out in the playoffs for lack of depth and one more good starter. If it's a rebuild, trade Correa and Lopez and cash in on whatever prospects you can get. Rebuild right. Like the O's and Astros have.
