⁠@@user-sw2in7nj4q in monogamous relationships there’s jealousy and hurt too. No relationship is absent these emotions. In ether relationship style the people have the option to work through their emotions or bury them. In a monogamous relationship it’s often easier to bury these emotions and in a polygamy it’s a lot harder so we hear about these as big issues. Not because they don’t exist in other styles but they have to do more communicating about these sensitive emotions.

Have everyone file their taxes separately doing away with marriage in terms of the law, problem solved. Have a relationship with whomever you want, call it whatever you want, problem solved. Why are these two separate concepts combined anyways?

Marriage is between one man, one woman, and God. It is not between a man and a woman and the state.

God didn't create multiple wives for Adam. So, we can infer that the ideal is one wife. However, there were prohibitions on the Kings of Israel having multiple wives.

I have a question regarding the command for kings not to multiply wives. In those days, alliances were often formed by intermarriage. Since this command is also paired with the command not to multiply horses either, should this be understood as God commanding kings not to rely on their own strength or the strength of allies, but on God alone? This isn't to justify or excuse polygamy, I'm just curious about the proper context.

I would love for someone that shows me a Christian that relies on god where there are better options available. Like in medicine, finance, relationship advice, morals, etc.

@@adamruuth5562 It's a false dichotomy. I rely on both. My son was in the NICU for a solid month after he was born. I was grateful for and dependent upon the doctors and nurses who cared for him during that time. I also appealed to God to sustain him and bring him to full health so he could come home. I don't see any conflict with relying on both.

Luke was a doctor...discipled by Jesus. Jesus isn't against doctors- part of the reason He chose him- they hold value in being fishers of men, and helping society. Sickness is real, He gave us brains to strive towards mastery in certain areas of life, until we finally master spiritually certain areas of The Faithwalk, if we choose too. (Also, why He grants us a Will). God Bless You as you seek His Face in prayer, through His Word, by His Spirit.

If Jesus cared about marriage, then he should have made the definition clearer. The bible and Sean is on the wrong side of history, I'm afraid. How can we teach Christians about love that is not hampered by what ancient people thought about two mythical people in a garden (where marriage is not mentioned)?

Hmmm. Gen 2:23-24 seems pretty clear to me and Jesus affirmed that in Matt 19. Have you considered those passages?

I think that, when he mentioned that he believes Christians should be taught about love that is not hampered by what ancient people thought about two mythical people in a garden, he made it clear that he doesn't give a rat's ass about any passages from modern mythology. Archie was dating both Betty and Veronica in the Archie comics. Have you considered any passages from those books?

I mean it is pretty clear, between a man and a woman. Anything else or extra is a sin. That's pretty clear. The only reason it's been argued about so much recently is because people want the bible to coexist with modern morals.
