I think my previous comment disappeared into the ether. If not, sorry for the extra comment! I really appreciate your candor and sharing information on this subject. I personally feel like it is such a minefield for me to ask questions because both sides think too many questions are questioning them. I think this subject is much more complex than the major camps want to admit and the polarizing of the subject leaves at least some people as victims or out in the cold.

The entire field of psychology is completely taken over by feminist ideology as well as the mental health professions. The trans movement originated from women's studies departments which are openly hostile to empirical evidence and the scientific method, preferring alternate ways of knowing and the lived experience . You are correct that treating mental disease with experimental surgical and hormonal interventions because of feelings and to accord with an ideological belief in absolute sexual interchangeability only creates further problems which require further medical interventions and mental health consulting. The critical lessons of the satanic panics and the preschool sex cults have been memoryholed. You are brave for admitting how much you yourself have been influenced by the authority of a credentialed professional to believe in whatever trendy diagnosis they want to attribute to you. I applaud your continuing outspoken content on these issues

So what did help against your depressions? My wife is also diagnosed with Bipolar and I am not shure that her medication is optimal. Maybe she has the same Problem you had?

I had what our marriage counselor later referred to as “situational depression” (although I think she was skeptical of this and sided with her colleague on the “must be bipolar” conclusion.) Anyway, what happened was that my husband developed a brain tumor that dramatically affected our relationship for roughly half a decade. He became very cold toward me, avoided physical affection, and essentially spent 5 years being very different from the man I’d married. I knew he still loved me, but he just wasn’t the same person- because brain tumors do that. Anyway, after 5 years he finally was diagnosed with a tumor, received treatment, and made a full recovery, which is awesome. But by that point I had developed a condition called hypoactive sexual desire disorder or HSDD. Symptoms vary, but in my case I had completely lost the ability to feel sexual feelings. I’d even become somewhat phobic of sex because I’d come to associate it with rejection. HSDD apparently affects about 10% of women at some point in their lives, usually during menopausal hormone changes or, as in my case, when a partner undergoes a lengthy medical problem. It’s characterized by intense distress at the sufferer’s inability to experience sexual pleasure or sexual fantasies. Frequently, it’s accompanied by depression, which only makes sense because a complete loss of sexual function is depressing. When I went in for therapy, my therapist didn’t put the pieces together that this was a problem for me, told me I was too focused on my sexual problems, and declared that I definitely had bipolar disorder. I didn’t. After several months with no progress I stopped seeing the therapist, and finally went to my general practitioner. I told him I didn’t want to live anymore and described my symptoms. Luckily he correctly identified them as classic symptoms of HSDD and prescribed me an antidepressant that also tends to help libido. After two years of being suicidal and mentally ill, I was finally able to recover. I’ve wanted to make a video talking about my experience since this affects 10% of women (and their partners) and is virtually unheard of. But so far I haven’t because it’s a very delicate topic in some ways. I don’t want to make my husband sound bad, and I just don’t trust people to understand that a brain tumor can drastically alter someone’s personality. At some point I need to talk about it. I just haven’t been ready yet.

Are you still together with your husband?

Yes. We’re doing quite well, actually. We’re expecting our fifth child, and we’ve been really enjoying the time we spend together. The brain tumor did grow back at one point, but he was very vigilant about it, and he got treatment within a couple months. So, yeah. Life is really good these days. :)
