MSC UpGrade Terms & Conditions: "If the Guests are currently in a cabin with “Fantastica” or “Aurea” experience and submit an Offer to upgrade to a higher category, we cannot guarantee that they will be assigned to a cabin with the same experience, but the experience itself “Bella”, “Fantastica” or “Aurea” will be maintained. For the upgraded Bid in Yacht Club, we will guarantee all benefits related to the Yacht Club Experience in addition to the original Experience."
Yeah..he's wrong about not getting YC experience if upgrade to YC through the bid. Cos like, why the Heck would anyone bid several hundred dollars to get no benefits ! I've bid on an inside YC cabin and my booking now is Balcony deluxe fantastica. If we got zip, for paying more, noone would do it. There's plenty of videos on here showing you get privileges ! Msc sent them me, too
Revised (as of Jun 23, 2023 at least): "In the case of a Winning Bid in “Aurea” or “Yacht Club” Experience, the Guests will also be guaranteed all the benefits relative to the new experience. All services that have been purchased and / or prepaid before the Winning Bid event for an upgrade in "Aurea" or "Yacht Club" experience will not be refunded if the same service, of the same or higher quality, is included in the new experience resulting from the Winning Bid."
He is correct about the side of the ship regarding the lighthouse show. However, we just got off the Meraviglia on Saturday. We upgraded from a balcony (Bella experience) to the Yacht Club Balcony and we got ALL the benefits. Private pool area, private lounge, butler service, priority boarding and disembarking upon arrival as well as at port, and (most importantly) free drinks. We were not sure, after watching this video, but were happily surprised to discover that he was incorrect.
Not only did he ignore all those who corrected him. He doubled down and said "But since the fine print in the upgrade program states that you aren’t entitled to them I have to report it as not being included." He has over 12k subscribers and he owes them correct information.
Hey Captain Cory! When you BidUp to a Yacht Club cabin you get the benefits of the Yacht Club drink package while you are inside the Yacht Club area, once you step outside that area you will be charged for your drinks. Your cruise card will still show your original cruise "experience" that you paid for. That was our experience. We had booked a Bella balcony, and BidUp upgraded to a Yacht Club cabin. We enjoyed all the perks every single one everywhere on the ship, except drinks in venues outside of the Yacht Club proper. Another misleading fact you mentioned,, there would be no way you would NOT be able to use the Yacht Club Dining Room or Private Bar or Sun Decks,, that would be impossible as your Yacht Club wrist band gives you access to all those areas. We did enjoy the priority embarkation quite a bit, in fact we are hooked on the Yacht Club now, primarily because of this and the overall calm and great staff experiences.
He doesn't even bother to correct his false information... just saw this video and went to check the term and conditions as his "facts" seemed very wrong!
4:04 FALSE!!! if you upgrade into the YC experience via the upgrade you do in fact get ALL of the benefits. Why would you say something so blatantly incorrect and not correct or at the very least caption a correction?
My sister and I were on an MSC cruise last year and were given the option to upgrade from a guaranteed interior cabin (last minute cruise just a few days before it departed) and we decided not to bid. We lucked out though, the day of the cruise we had been upgraded to a balcony stateroom. Highly doubt we'd get that lucky again 😂
So far I’ve been upgraded to a balcony on all my Msc cruises but have one coming up where they have me in a deluxe interior for my birthday…. Hoping i get a last minute upgrade! It’s definitely common on msc but i also usually cruise in the off season.
I am traveling with MSC for the first time next month and called about the upgrade cost as a solo traveler. I confirmed the following during my call with their representative: If traveling solo, you will only be charged the bid rate once, not twice as stated in this video (i.e.; if you are a solo traveler and bid $200 to upgrade, you are charged $200 when the bid is accepted, not $400). If traveling with a larger party, only the 1st and 2nd guests in your room/suite are charged for the bid rate. Additional guests enjoy the room upgrade at no cost.
Thank you for sharing this valuable information in the video. I recently bid on an upgrade from a Fantastica to an Aurea, mainly because I wanted access to the Thermal area, but after watching your video, I decided to cancel the upgrade before it was accepted. I'm grateful that I did because I would have been disappointed if I had paid for the upgrade and didn't receive the benefits of the Aurea level. Additionally, I noticed that the frequently asked questions section doesn't provide any information about this issue. Moreover, I am not convinced that there is a significant difference between the Fantastica Balcony and the Aurea Balcony rooms. I was unable to locate the complete terms and conditions for the upgrade, as only the frequently asked questions section was available. Unfortunately, this section didn't provide any information regarding the upgrade in question. After reading through some of the comments, I must admit that I am now even more confused.
If you're going to create an informational video then at the very least you should offer correct information. Upgrades to the Yacht Club absolutely include all Yacht Club experience perks. It says so right on their website and also on that screen where you bid for the Yacht Club upgrade.
***** Wrong Info about Winning a Yacht Club Experience***** 17. The Upgrade does not include any additional promotions. Guests whose upgrade bid is accepted will receive the experience level included with their original reservation. The exceptions will be in the case of a Winning Bid in “Aurea” or “Yacht Club” Experience. In these cases, the Guests will also be guaranteed all the benefits relative to the new experience. 18. All services that have been purchased and / or prepaid before the Winning Bid event for an upgrade in "Aurea" or "Yacht Club" experience will not be refunded if the same service, of the same or higher quality, is included in the new experience resulting from the Winning Bid. 19. Once Guests have purchase an Upgrade, MSC Cruises SA cannot guarantee a specific cabin number assignment within the upgraded category. The cabin number, cabin deck and cabin position will depend on space availability and are at the sole discretion of MSC Cruises SA. 20. If the Guests are currently in a cabin with “Bella” or “Fantastica” experience and submit an Offer for an upgrade to a higher category, MSC cannot guarantee that they will be assigned to a cabin with the same experience. Still, the upgraded cabin will maintain the initially booked experience "Bella" or "Fantastica". 21. If the Guest wins an Upgrade to an "Aurea" or "Yacht Club" experience cabin, the original booked experience "Bella" or "Fantastica" will be changed with the new experience "Aurea" or "Yacht Club". The new experience will guarantee to Guests all the benefits related to the "Aurea" or "Yacht Club" experience. You should correct this video and don't give wrong info discouraging MSC UPgrade program.
Hi, just wanted to clarify Incorrect information regarding not getting the perks when upgrading to yacht club. If staying in a yacht club room (purchased or upgraded) you receive all yacht club perks and experiences.
Thanks! I know many people report using the full yacht club benefits with an upgrade. But since the fine print in the upgrade program states that you aren’t entitled to them I have to report it as not being included.
@@MidshipsCruise No, it doesn't the FINE PRINT specifically says if you upgrade to the Yacht Club you DO get all the YC experience perks. Maybe do a little more research instead of giving false information? Look at the FAQs for the upgrade program...it's very clear.
From the upgrade program T&Cs… 17.
If you look closely at the webpages he brings up where the bidding is the top two or three offers say yacht club and they say you do get all the experiences including free drinks Wi-Fi etc. but the bottom two look like they’re just the rooms only so I think you have to definitely read the fine print for what you’re bidding on.
Not all starboard rooms have view of lighthouse. If you are closer to aft the view is blocked because of the design of the ship as it jogs out on the side.
@antonellalagatta4194 , I am guessing you have already found the answers to your question, but in case anyone else is wondering... I spoke with MSC about the upgrade cost as a solo traveler and learned the following: Only the 1st and 2nd guests in your room/suite will be charged for the bid rate. Additional guests enjoy the room upgrade at no cost. If traveling solo, you will only be charged the bid rate once, not twice as stated in this video (i.e.; if you are a solo traveler and bid $200 to upgrade, you are charged $200, not $400).
MSC just did this to me! I booked an ocean view cabin and then thought I would try to get upgrade with interior YACHT CLUB ROOM, thinking this came with the yacht club experience. I won the bid and then to find out after watching your video, it doesn’t work that way. My paperwork showed Bella experience with the yacht club interior. I called MSC CR yesterday and the rep told me i was booked in the yacht club room so i would get those benefits.
UPDATE: After speaking to MSC CR Rep again today, she explained if you bid upgrade to Yacht Club Room, you will get the Yacht Club experience and not the original one booked. That is the only exception to the rule. This is coming from two MSC CR reps, MSC CR Trainer and MSC REP Supervisor. They all said the same thing. The paperwork needs to be updated to reflect this and they are working on it. They aren't going to put you in a Yacht Club Room exclusive area and then say you don't get to use any of their services. According to MSC you will get ALL that comes with the Yacht Club Rooms.
@@robo9883 did you end up getting ALL yacht club perks on your cruise? Also how much did you bid for the yacht club room? My minimum is showing $385 pp.
The information you gave is wrong this is from T&Cs 17.
Not true for MSC in U.K. I bid low for an upgrade to Yacht Club and received all perks of YC. This also happened to all other upgraded cruisers too. Also, there are even more perks of being Diamond on Voyager Club that you don’t mention such as chocolate ship, complimentary dine at a specialty restaurant and a lot more.
That’s awesome news. I know a lot of people report receiving full yacht club privileges just like you said! I think they’re lenient with the policy. I just have to report from what MSC’s offering states in the fine print to avoid causing problems for someone
The UPGrade program terms say on bullet “19. If the Guests are currently in a cabin with “Fantastica” or “Aurea” experience and submit an Offer to upgrade to a higher category, we cannot guarantee that they will be assigned to a cabin with the same experience, but the experience itself “Bella”, “Fantastica” or “Aurea” will be maintained. For the upgraded Bid in Yacht Club, we will guarantee all benefits related to the Yacht Club Experience in addition to the original experience. “ This, to me means that if you bid on Yacht Club and your bid is accepted, you get all the original perks PLUS the Yacht Club perks.
@@kelvintorres6184 it doesn’t seem to let me post a link, but google MSC Upgrade Terms. You’ll find about the fourth or fifth link down look for 19. And it’s exactly what I said above.
Sorry this video really confused me, you do get full upgrade In the case of a Winning Bid in “Aurea” or “Yacht Club” Experience, the Guests will also be guaranteed all the benefits relative to the new experience. All services that have been purchased and / or prepaid before the Winning Bid event for an upgrade in "Aurea" or "Yacht Club" experience will not be refunded if the same service, of the same or higher quality, is included in the new experience resulting from the Winning Bid.
Their upgrade process is a mess. I am sailing in a few days in the Yacht Club. I got a half a dozen upgrade email to go from our YC interior cabin to a YC deluxe balcony. Starting bid was like $370 per person ($740 for 2) I decided against it because for a 3 night sailing spending over $700 just did not seem worth it when i was already in YC and the only additional benefit was a we would not use. To my surprise I see people on the same sailing in lower level categories (like Fantastica interior ) bidding and winning yacht club balconies for more than half of what our min bid was. It just made me realize that its cheaper to just book a regular interior cabin and bid to YC rather than just booking YC.
The statues match is absolutely rubbish. I tried that the back end of last year. After spending 11 weeks cruising with another line and they put me in the second tier. The first Tier is not even worth having anyone can get that. I consider it a con job.
@rotfan77 1 minute ago My question is if you bid on a room and the price is currently about 1/2 of your current room if you were to win the minimum bid do they refund your original money ? for example if your original balcony was 500 bucks but you win the bid for an aurea balcony for 250 are you paying 250 to upgrade the aurea experience plus your 500 already paid, or do they refund your full 500 and new price is 250 per person total for cabin, if you won? I know those are per person cabin prices not including port fees, taxes etc. Thanks
Just be carefull booking, tou have to choose the drink and wifi package when you book to get all the benefits of any upgrade. Even booking yacht club, you can choose not to receive th benefits.
Dont get this upgrade bidding milarcy, were sailing in 4 weeks, just got an email to bid for upgrade, looked at upgrading to a balcony, the minimum bid was £50 more expensive than if we just payed for the upgrade anyway,am i missing something?first time cruising so might have overlooked something
yikes i need help! i pressed the "bid" button by mistake and I don't want the upgrade! i don't have the money for it. I have tried every which way to contact MSC but no one can help me! I did it an hour ago so there is time to cancel i think but i can't find out how!
I’ve never been able to get an answer about how this works with accessible cabins! Since the does have to be wide enough it would seem odd not to account for that!
Quick question, is the upgrade price you bid on top of, or in addition to what you have already paid for your cruise, or does this replace the total cost of your cruise? Meaning if I paid $2000 dolars for my cruise already and bid on an upgrade that is $550 per person is my total now $3100 (Original $2000 + $550 + $550) or would it now be $1100 only?
Corry the upgrade you talk about is wrong . I’m sure you now know that . Because we got it and you do get the benefits if you bid and win . But if given a upgrade for not given a bid then you don’t .
Holy crap, 2 years later. After inflation after Covid an shit. These prices are doubled may be what you picked too. Cuz our prices are over 150pp for the cheapest option
MSC's upgrade program is a rip-off. Besides the fact that the minimum bids really bring you up to original prices of the cabin. If the increments were in $50.00 increments it may be worth it. You are better off just booking the room you want and that's it.
You video is wrong. If you upgrade to the YC suite you 100% get ALL the benefits. Not only have I done it AND called to confirm with MSC that it is true on my next cruise. It also makes sense. If you have cruised in YC in the past (which you clearly have not) you would know that once you enter the YC area you have free access. PEOPLE YOU GET THE YC EXPERIENCE!
You talk a load of lies about upgrading to the YC. You get all the free drinks, the butler, I think you get 95% of the things, we spoke to one couple who just couldn't dine in the YC restaurant. But don't tell lies... Even on the form there it shows you what you get when upgrading. We ALWAYS buy YC outright because we're not poor, but stick to the facts and always tell the truth.
Stopped watching the video in the middle after the "Win the Yacht Club bid, but don't get the benefits" BS. You would think any vlogger worth their salt would correct the mis-information stated. Looked like an interesting channel, but now on my do not watch list.
