Hi Ajax, thanks for stopping by! ScanGauge is very useful, but hoping to replace it with a more modern equivalent in the future, along with the entire ECU too!

A fair and honest review Alex. It’s a great & relatable ownership story. I’m sure your dad would be well chuffed that the VX/Lotus bug has bitten you, and also the extra modifications you have carried out.

Being a German petrolhead, let me tell you: I love my Speedster (VX 220 2.2) and my Morgan +8. I'd never ever buy a German car "for fun" as (edit) the Brithish ones are so much more pure and so much more fun to drive. - So have a lot of fun with your VX...

@@AK88onCars In the early 80th I loved British computers (and the +8 was the faceplate of my dream cars "Quartett" (card game)). Since then I dreamt of this car. In the mid 90th I saw a prototype of the 1st Elise somewhere in Nottingham - before it reached the public - and I knew that if this would ever become real I _MUST_ have one of these... (Both of these dreams have become true... - Nice, isn't it?!)

So just to state the facts - the VX220 was designed by a chap called Martin Smith (from Yorkshire), all models of both the Speedster and the VX220 were built at Lotus Hethel facility in the UK, by Lotus (they actually extended the facility to build the VX220). The cars were tuned by Lotus' Gavan Kershaw, there now Director of Engineer at Lotus (fun fact, he design the original Top Gear track....). Nearly everything was manufactured by Lotus, bar predominantly the engines - but even they were mainly manufactured in Vauxhalls Ellesmere Port facility (also in the UK). So infact, more of the VX220 was made in the UK then most modern Lotus......
