In this video, I review my Kubota BX1870 sub-compact tractor after using it over the last 8 years for rural property maintenance and various projects. I walk through the tractor features and capabilities, talk about how I've been using the tractor, what works well, and what could be improved. I touch on many topics including reliability, durability, total operating costs, and whether or not I'd buy another one.

Thanks for the comprehensive review. It might be confirmation bias on my part, but it makes me want a Kubota even more.

Well, I posted that review almost a year ago and still have had zero reliability issues with the Kubota. It's instrumental in maintaining my property, pricing is fair relative to competition, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I have the current version of the BX, except I got the one with the largest engine available so I have the BX2680....I wanted the extra PTO horsepower....the rest of the machine is pretty much the same as the lower HP models as far as hydraulic operation. I have the 60" mid mount mower, although overkill for my lawn, I do use it occasionally for my lawn, but mostly use it to mow a couple of pastures a couple times a year for friends. It works ok, but I really would like to get a flail mower at some point so I'm not tearing up my finish mower deck, which is about $2500 to replace. I've had my BX for about a year and a half and have only put about 80 hours on it. Its a definite time saver, thinking back of all the jobs I've done with my tractor just on my property would have taken me several hours, only took me a few minutes. I have the loader, and recently had the 3rd function kit installed in preparation for getting a grapple in the near future. I have the Reverse Rotation Roto-tiller, 60" mid mount mower, pallet forks, box blade, and rear grading blade. At some point I'll pickup a flail mower and hopefully a wood chipper. I think I need a ballast box too, but they stick out just as far as my box blade from what I can tell, so I may see about picking up one of those 3 point suitcase weight carriers as they sit much tighter to the back of the tractor....when you are trying to do loader work in tight places the less stuff you got sticking out the back of the tractor helps a lot. I bought the BX because its the smallest, so it easily fits in my shop/barn and I can most stuff around inside quite easily with the pallet forks....getting a larger tractor didn't make any sense on my 1 acre property....the BX2680 does everything I need it to do. Bought it for its small size, which has come in handy a few times helping friends....I don't think the B series would have fit in my friend's back yard, its not much larger, but it is when you are trying to fit into a confined space where you can't tear down a fence or move a house in order to access the back yard. The only other option would have been one of those mini track loaders, I think Toro calls their machine a Dingo, just a small stand on/ride on loader, but those things cost as much, if not more than my tractor did LOL. I thought about used, but didn't want to buy someone else's problems...so I bought new, so I know everything this tractor has done from the very beginning. I change the engine oil/filter once a year regardless of hours of use...probably change the hydraulic fluid every 2-3 years. Easy machine to service with the exception of the stupid fuel filter location under the tractor.

Good video! It’s good to hear how equipment is holding up after a number of years. Nice 👍🏼 tractor! I have the Massey Ferguson but always liked the Kubotas too. You’re right. These little tractors come in handy in places some wouldn’t even expect.
