Should You Buy An Adjustable Bench?
I've already covered my recommendation of the best budget adjustable bench - but should you even be getting an adjustable bench in the first place?

Really good video, very useful. I originally thought I was going to get an adjustable bench, but the more I looked I leaned towards the flat bench. As someone who is both limited on space and budget, I think you convinced me to get the flat bench ! Thanks mate

I have discovered for a home gym less can be more. A few stall mats or plywood under a flat bench to tilt it up or down can do a lot. Hanging a flat bench on the wall is great for storage. Plus most adjustables are not great for flat benching with problematic feet clearance at the bottom, stickiness of the pad, instability, and it's not as easy to move around. Plus, if it's a home gym, you don't need (or really want) everything.

I agree! Sometimes less can certainly be better

Great advice Ben Goodhart !! I too prop up my flat 30cm bench on wood blocks...but i'm not sure if it's safe - unless you don't violently press weights i think it can be reasonably safe.

Looking at the rep zero gap 2 for 1 and more space saved instead of 2 benches.Good vid buddy

Honestly that seems like the best of both worlds! I haven’t tried it yet

My prime fitness pad bench is 10inch wide/ 18 inches tall. I ended up slipping a little for bench arch due to the smooth vinyl. I decided to buy a rep 5000 flat bench specifically for benching and I don't compete. Sometimes my wife needs a bench for dumbbell work when I'm benching.

I went FB5000 w/ wide pad and AB5000 Zer0 gap. I wanted the best of both worlds and they are great.

Well.. think this helped me go in a better direction with my decision .. flat bench for barbell stuff .. probably a cheaper incline decline bench for dumbells maybe.. If anyone has advice I'd like to see what you have to say.

I think that's a solid option!

Fitness reality bench are solid adjustable benches for the price if you don't want to spend that much, and they seem to be readily available. They fold flatter but are not the type that fold nicely to a small footprint. However, if you have space you should take a look at one with a leg extension/let curl attachment too

You are rattling off the name of a lot of lifts, but I don’t know what any of those mean. I’m just getting started. I wish you’d demonstrated the lifts, and when a person might do those vs others.

You could have just paused the video and looked it up on your phone dude... get an adjustable bench, as you learn about exercise variations you’ll regret not having access to those. Sucks to be limited to ONLY flat bench.
