I have been using Logos since 2006 when I got it for a huge discount because I was in Bible College at the time. I have continued to update it and add resources.

Your video showed up in my feed and you did a good job of covering the main points. One element that comes into play with the three software packages you mentioned is the layout and workflow. While all three do the same thing, they do them in different ways. So one platform form may connect with someone better than the other two. But no matter which software you get you have to spend time working with it. Kind of like getting a study Bible and never fully utilizing it and understanding what you have. You are right it's an investment of money, but also time. You have to use it to know it. Also, you were mentioning all the books that it took with research and I chuckled thinking back to my school days and going to the library. On a side note, it would be nice to have a bit more front lighting. That whole desk area just comes across dark on my screens and just bleed into the back of the iPad. Not being critical, so don't take it that way. Great video and I look forward to you overview of the three packages.

Thanks. I hope to get a video out on the differences between them. And I agree. They all do much of the same thing but slightly differently.

Point about the lighting is spot on. I just got a new main light and am learning how to balance it out with the room lighting.

I have Logos since i went to bible college but I use OliveTree more because it better in a mobile enviorment to me. I have paid for a lot of resources over the years but its worth it. Being able to dig into the Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, exegetical context, maps, even the library of Bible Project animations is an awesome addion. I just wish they had the Dictionary of Deities and Demons available for it like Logos. Logos has a bigger selection overall and better in a desktop enviornment to me.

@@TheCaffeinatedBible *Everyone is going to find out that all bibles both digital and hard copies have been the UNholy word of Satan for over ten years now. Sadly the vast majority won't until Jesus explains it at the Gate though. But on the off chance any WHEAT see this, read Amos **8:11** then type in (proof of bible change residue junkie 1) AND HANG ON TO YOUR SEAT!!!*

I’ve been using logos since 2006 even it was logos 4 and I can say it has been well worth the money, I update it periodically and take advantage of all the free monthly resources to continue expanding my library

Excellent vid. For me, I went away from Logos simply because its core study functions are unavailable when the internet is down. Things like word study, passage guide, exegetical guide, topics and passage comparison are unusable. You can still use the resources that have been downloaded but not these functions. Mind you, in the days before bible software I do recall having my Bible, concordance pen and paper to study. Easier times it seemed

Ah yes, the good old days. Brings back good memories. Didn’t realize that about Logos though as i only have it on my desktop.

@@TheCaffeinatedBible Studying the pre-software days was in some ways more satisfying. Less distractions and the process of flicking through books and writing down seemed to make things stick in my mind a bit more. I’m presuming the desktop version is the same if the internet drops out? Certainly my iPad and iPhone lose those core functions.

Brilliant, I really enjoyed that video. I have Olive Tree and it suits my study with apologetics. Thanks again for the effort to produce this video.

I am not a fan of e-Bibles. Rather I wish I could e-mail someone who knows N.T. Greek and help me narrow-down the type of Bible(s) and commentary that has the MOST of what I am looking for.
@TheCaffeinatedBible
@TheCaffeinatedBible 7 месяцев назад
So which edition of a Greek NT are you looking for? There are a ton of different commentaries, written at all different levels - from just English text to commentaries that might require multiple languages to really get the most out of. What are you looking for?

These look very cool! But it must take a very special and disciplined kind of person to have this on their digital device (like a laptop) and not get distracted by anything else. Having a physical book can help me concentrate and stay put, but putting this on my laptop... hooboy!

Great point - might want to put a disclaimer on the software. Warning - this app may be extremely addictive.

I see no reason to reject Matthew Henry just because he wrote 300 years ago. Comparing him with modern commentators, show not much difference between him and recent people. The term "cutting edge" has little application in biblical studies. The meaning of the word has not changed, and one will have to jump through some very serious hoops to make any sort of sound argument that recent publications are that important. The place where it may make difference is in areas of archeology and textual discoveries that result. So far, such things have no resulted in any change of doctrine. I personally use ESword and found it quite profitable. There are many resources available for it, both old and new, that are well worth having.

I don’t reject him. Merely let you know his work is now freely available in public domain. And that he has a place in the history of interpretation.

Blue Letter Bible free. Better and also free, ESword . ESword is completely downloadable . Once downloaded you don't need a internet connection. Strong's numbers are embedded in the text. Lots of room for notes both are good , blue letter, you get Bibles but the rest you need a internet connection. E Sword is also available on smartphones but it costs a whopping 1.99 u.s. Well worth it. God bless

Thanks. If you like those applications you would be amazed at what you can get with the big three paid software packages. I hope to do a video in the future on the free software packages as well.
