So which veil was torn? I think it’s probably the outer one because it would’ve been seen easily.

The gospel accounts hint at the inner veil. And from the various ancient Jewish authors that makes sense. But I will have to think about your idea. Has some merit.

What I’ve read is the veil was 60’ by 30’ and supported by a 30 ton header (lintel)…if that cracked (by the earthquake) in the middle and fell it would have torn the curtain from top to bottom ….i also found a geological report given at GSA in 2012 stating the evidence of an earthquake 6.0 happening on April 3, 33AD…..

so do you read the jewish wars , can Josephus accounts be trusted as back-up to more insight to the times during the early church ?

Josephus is a complex character. Some of his accounts are very reliable others are debated. In regard to the veil, we have other Jewish authors who close to what he says as well.

No mention of why? The veil was torn from the top. Over fifty cubits high. No person could get up there to tear it. Implying it was torn by powers from up above. If a man did it, then it would be torn from the bottom up. The passage is meant to show Jesus first act as King was to allow people to have access directly to him.

Tia mystery all. Matthew, Mark and Luke are all mum on this as well. They just say it was torn.

It was the height and width of an average house, not to mention several inches thick, and was meant to separate fallen man corrupted & marred by sin, from a just and Holy God. I think it is fairly easy to figure out why it was rent from top to bottom when Christ died.

Inside the ark of the covenant was Aaron's rod, a bowl of Manna and the 10 commandments, doesn't say anything about the anointing oil

Did your question get cut off? Key thing to remember is that the ark was taken off by the Babylonians and not seen since then. So the Temple only had a space for it but no ark.
