Should You BUY God Eater 3? (Review) 

Another reason this is the perfect God Eater game for newcomers (Forgot to mention this) - The grind is both enjoyable and bearable. Unlike GE2:RB and GE:R, the story progresses smoothly with just a little bit of that tediousness towards the end. You consistently fight new aragami, smooth story progression that ropes you in and has you wanting to play more. It's an all around good flow.

Since God Eater has finally found its identity I really REALLY REALLY hope that there’s either a reboot of the series or some more sequels.

I'm a bit late but. . . So what I like about games is obviously gameplay and animations. Flashy animations at that. And from what I've seen, that Cresent weapon is the most flashiest of them all. In my opinion. That, and the game having been said to have a good story and "plot" sold me to buy this game. But there's a certain factor that if known, I probably will or will not get the game. And that is post-story. End-game. After you finish the story. I know the loop in these kinds of "monster hunting" games, you post the quest, do the quest, kill the monster, carve the monster for materials, return and craft weapons and armor from those materials, rinse, repeat. What makes the MH series is that the grind/loop is fun to do, and I'm glad that GE3 is the same way according to the video. I've played majority of the Monster Hunter games starting from Freedom on the PSP. And what you spend mostly on the game is the end-game content. MHW didn't do much for endgame content other than just "copy and paste" the Elder Dragons for Tempered and Arch-Tempered (save for few, such as Xeno, Zorah, and most likely Nergigante coming up), but that's besides the point. What I'm getting at is: "After the story is finished, will you still have PLENTY to do?" Such as end-game content and stuff. I understand that there's DLC, but what if I'm not even getting the DLC? If you haven't noticed by now. I'm mostly getting into this game for the thrill of doing the grind over and over again. But doing that isn't good enough if the grind eventually gets boring. I want to keep grinding for that gear that has enough attack stat to kill an Aragami, and I want to grind for that gear that has even more attack stat to kill an even STRONGER Aragami, etc. That's the type of grind I like, the "Monster Hunter" grind if you will. If it's not, then this game isn't for me. Not to say it isn't bad or anything, it's just that I'm overly picky with the limited cash in my wallet. xD

Honestly i think God Eater 3 is both the most enjoyable and the most disappointing God Eater to come out in the series. What makes it enjoyable is it added so much aesthetically, like the UI and burst art and corresponding effects, as was mentioned. The aragami look fantastic, and the new ones especially are just so cool to fight. The AGE Eaters introduction was definitely lackluster for the "final" ashborn, but the addition of these ashborn that could devour an AGE and go into burst mode, changing their form like Anubis standing, Ra growing wings, the AGE Eaters chains unshackling and the two appendages next to it's head turning into guns was amazing. What wasn't amazing. The story took wayyyy longer than the missions. As you go up the ranks, you think oh no, this is getting harder and harder. You expect a long drawn out battle, you see an old aragami you once feared and think this is gonna be a tough one. Then 4 minutes in "Caligula/Chrome Gawain/Anubis" and so on are dead. To add to this, each time you break a part they flop over on their bellies like helpless puppies, and not for a short time. I feel like 25% of the fight is me attacking a helpless child, but I need the breakable rewards to upgrade so no helping it. Then they add in the assault missions. You have 5 minutes to kill x, 10 minutes to kill this, 15 to kill these 3. Most of the time it's not a challenge, cause that's how long it took with the normal missions. Probably the toughest ones are those with a bunch of small mobs, cause you have to dash around and kill em, they respawn, dash around and kill more, respawn, and repeat. However it is a plus in that the grind is no longer painful, and it's something you can boot up, play, and enjoy and not have to set aside 3 hours of free time for 2 missions like past god eaters.

Yes, just picked up GE3 for $8 for the PC, was debating between Steam and Switch, so glad I went with the PC version. I keep my Switch docked, playing at 240hz on the PC and with substantially better graphics. This also plays well on the Switch and serves as a great port.

I think they can improve on movement, weapons, and character customization. I would really like more optioms when dealing with mobile enemies. Would love some more weapons like the dual blades and ringblade (because they're basically Bloodborne weapons nd I'm a huge Bloodborne fan). I woild really like more variety in clothing, hair, character body shape, and maybe a system to improve your character similar to Bloodborne or Darksouls leveling system. The online needs some work too as well as some more interative and unique maps similar to Monster Hunter.

After playing code vein, I got nostalgic for the good old days of playing god eater burst on psp. Recently picked up GER, GE2RB and GE3. Looking forward to playing them! Also, glad to find a youtuber that does covers this stuff.

In all honesty this game was unfortunately disappointing for me. Out of the GE series I guess I fit in the minority as I liked GE2 the best because of it's story and amount of content. Gamplay-wise Yeah I'll say GE3 added new mechanics that I liked such as the long jump for better traversal and movement, plus the new weapons. I also liked the customization you get with the burst arts and combos, but I didn't like how they worked in comparison the original blood arts since you had to be in burst to use them, but it makes sense for the sake of game balance as some Blood arts could get really overpowered. To me I felt like a lot of things in this game got nerfed in comparison to the previous games, i.e the bullet editor. I didn't bother customizing any bullets in GE3 because of what was changed. (Spolier Warning & Long Comment) Now, the story... The most disappointing point for me. Being a writer, I'm usually very critical about stories even more so with ones I like, in this case God Eater. Aside from Phym, I didn't feel much attachment to most of the characters. I think the problem is because you don't get to learn much about them and what you do learn is lightly glossed over. There's a lot I would go into depth about this, but I'll just talk about Hugo and the pals from the port for a brief example. The problem with them is your character already knows them, but you the player don't. It would've helped if there were flashbacks like when in GE2 when Livie explains how she knows Romeo. Another example from GE2 were the character episodes (Could've had flashback missions of how you got to know Hugo). They were great since you got to know more about the characters in GE2. They were also optional, so players that didn't care could skip them. Even then without them you at least got to go on a few missions with each of the Blood members to get to know them. It felt like all that went out the window in GE3... Second: The story to GE3 is pretty similar with GE1/Resurrection due to Phym. It was pretty predictable once I saw her. Hell, I was hoping that Soma/Ein would've played more of a bigger role in the story helping you save Phym since she was like Shio. Nope never happened. In fact it felt like the last two games didn't really happen. There were only a handful of points that were mentioned and alluded to the previous games via some text. Once again, compared to GE2 you got to see the old crew from GE1. It was good incentive for new players that were interested to play the first game to know more about them while giving homage to veterans. All in all, I didn't feel like there was much progression with the God Eater World for a narrative stand point and I was really disappointed about that. I'm hoping that the Updates can help GE3's story, but I doubt it'll win me over. So I'll say GE3 is fun and I encourage curious beginners to try, but my heart's set on GE2. Also Rage Burst. I know it's more of Blood unit thing, but I thought that mechanic was awesome. Sad nothing like that came back. Maybe in the update, but I doubt it.

I would be awesome if in the updates they add some of the Aragami from the movile games like Queen Maiden, the Chernobog, Nebuchadnezzar, Kubera and the Voltumna. Also that weird God Arc we saw in Resonant Ops that turns into a bow. If they add those then it would be awesome and at least tie up with the movile games because those are canon too and happen between GE 2 and GE3. Imagine and assault mission with Kubera, that would be insane and difficult as fuck XD That's what I want to see for the most part and I can't wait to see what happen in the story after rank 7

As someone who’s played Resurrection twice and played a little bit of God Eater 2 (136 hours total), I love this series. It was a random purchase on a lazy Sunday that evolved into a truly enjoyable experience, it’s more than just a game to me. That being said, I really liked this review, it was clear, cut-and-dry, and from the perspective of someone who UNDERSTANDS the game (unlike IGN, I mean, goddamn) So I just wanted to say thank you! God eater 3 is about $100 for me atm, so I’m trying to be patient and wait for it to drop a little, but you’ve 100% convinced me to play it!

The fights in GE3 are also shorter, usually a harder fight for me usually lasts at least 10 minutes (maybe that says something about my skills but that's beside the point.) Here, my fights only last 5 minutes.

The game is only at Rank 7 so there will be more updates in the future. Hopefully it covers what happened in between 2 and 3 since the Spiral Tree should be immune to Aragami related. Still cant see where's the tree in the game.

Dude. I just finished all 3 games. This game. God eater 3. Was done real dirty. I don't know why it's called bland. Idk why it's ignored mostly. I'm even glad monster hunter world gave this game some sort of advertisement cuz WTF went wrong man?! You're the only guy who seems to know his sh*t. The second you went GE3 > GER > GE2RB when it came to story I completely sided with ya dude. 2. 2 was so painful. So painful that I wanted to die. I saw many amazing monsters. I don't wanna type them cuz spoilers but no matter how amazing the monster was. 1 Pledge. GG EZ. Can't die but monster can. Not to mention how absolutely absurd the game's length and the story end was at the end. After 50-70 hours of playing a game, no ending would live up, Especially a completely Naruto ending or some sh*t. 3. Was. Good. I completely got invested. I didn't mind sh*t and I was so worried playing this whole game cuz I was waiting for the point where the game fell flat. That's already a problem because before even entering I was told it's a cliche JRPG with bland characters. What I got was the exact opposite. Infact the story went into places i didn't see coming. What happened to this game exactly. Why do people just shrug it off?! Did it get the Monster hunter world treatment or something. The game being so different that people just didn't wanna adjust? I have a dude who quit Monster hunter world cuz the game "Isn't for him anymore" He still says 4U was better even though 4U is such a bad game that it makes my heart ache every single time I play it. Bro thank you for making this, God Eater is lit. I have 400hrs on monster hunter world and I can say that I noticed a lot of (good) things similar to it with this game. I love the grind and the story is nice, in fact it’s better than monster hunter world story, I am engaged with it. I’m only on story rank 5 but it invoked emotion in me. MHW, Black Ops 4 and God Eater 3 is the top games I’m playing until iceborn drops. Respect to you bro.

I dont know if its just me, but I don't find the combat satisfying, it's like im using a paper sword smashing paper-boxes.. theres not enough weight to these extremely cool and OP looking weapons. Don't get me wrong I really like the style, the monsters, the look of it. I really want to like this game, but when i start playing i just lose interest after one or two missions. I think they should add that "mili-second-stop" to the end of hard-hitting attacks, to emphasize how big and brutal thoes weapons really are. It might be because i'm too used to Monster Hunter World, and I expect it to be like that in terms of combat-feel. When I saw this review and heard you talk about it with such joy, it makes me want to play it, and give it another shot.

While your review has a few things that I don't agree with, I can say it's a fair review. It kind of confused me to hear that your "biased review" rating was higher than your "neutral" one, but I digress. Honestly, I prefer God Eater: Resurrection's storyline over both sequels. There was more depth to character motivations, interactions, and backgrounds. You figured out who not only the main God Eaters were, but even what kinds of people the side, minor, and even antagonists were -- Aragami included. (Susano'o... Just. Susano'o.) I believe it was because of the game's length (as a compilation of God Eater and God Eater Burst) that made the story stand apart from Monster Hunter and made the story feel so long. It's too soon to say that GE3 is a short game; more patches and updates are on the docket to arrive. For some reason, I morbidly wish a few more Aragami had made it into the roster: Ouroboros, because OMG that scaling would be freaky-legit; Susano'o, because duh, plus Tsukuyomi (the sleepyhead) and Amaterasu (Ouroboros with boobies). Also, Venus because it breeds? I could be overloading the game here, but Blitz Hannibal and Balfa Mata because sadomasochism. But this is just a personal wishlist, feel free to nitpick and blast and cringe and all that nonsense. Who knows? For now, I sign off with this: I platinumed God Eater Resurrection. I have yet to platinum GE2RB. I'm 5 or 6 trophies away from platinuming GE3 (as of this writing). If you haven't played the first game, you might not catch the references sprinkled throughout the game. "Ein" is probably the biggest reference in the entire game. Just sayin'. 0 .0

Kinda why I can’t get into monster hunter, and why I’m not gunna by god eater 😢 Kinda bummed cause the anime was cool. I just want code vein 2 already lmfao put all this effort into making more sweet weapons and blood codes for a sequel 🤩 also fix the bad ones the game had, aka bayonet and hammer lmao Hammers could be made cool... maybe? But you could fix bayonets so quick. Better move set, different styles for affect and looks(shotgun, rifle, smg). But I’ll stop talking about code vein in a god eater video

GE3 is a good game I like it the customization of arts/effects is amazing the gameplay felt like GE story had me hooked. But the fashion isn't there at all the grind is simple yea but they cuz a lot of aragami from the game and reduced the number of skills in the game therefore making the broken arc install skill very lack luster and stale to me. I found myself not caring much bout it till the end of the game but even then not paying much heed to it also the button controls I tho m should have been revamped of possible the gunplay in GE3 feels outdated in the since I have to raptor claw to use the gun effectively resulting in me not relying on it much. All in all I enjoyed the game for what it was it reminded me of GE Burst and I love that.

I didn't buy this due to the fact its pretty dry. And well the blood arts are bad and the story is blah. But i will get it down the line.but i stll perfer GE2 or GER. But if anything im waiting for tokiden 3. Still the game are easy and the element are busted as sin. I switch between scorch frost and jolt twins blades. And by far they are broken. At lvl 3. But i don't have the game. My Gf does and i just been killing it for her with the build and so on.
