I have this plane and I gotta say you did great explaining it and if I had to say in few words what it is. It's a escort/interceptor fighter and cannot dogfight but can somewhat boom and zoom however as you said if the enemy is as fast or faster you will die
If you cant kill at least 1-2 enemy bombers AND 1-2 enemy fighters per battle in air rb with this plane you are doing it wrong. I very consistently get 2-3 air kills per battle using this plane as a pure fighter/interceptor. Calling this plane slow is completely false. It doesnt have great accelleration or climb rate but its top speed and energry retention are great. If you are patient enough to climb and get a decent engergy advantage you can dominate the enemy team with this plane. I have even killed many early jets such as Me 262s and He 162s with this plane.
The ju288 c is the bane of this planes existence? Wat. What. Bruh, they're like literally the easiest targets ever, and you *do* outspeed them in a gradual dive
