Great vid, very informational. As to spacers, wheels, and hubs welding themselves together, this is a real phenomenon, especially if you live in an area that salts the roads in the winter, or a coastal area that deals with saltwater air all the time. My recommendation as a mechanic is this: always use an anti-sieze compound on the mating surfaces (NOT ON THE STUDS), and make sure it's a compound based on the higher metal nobility factor (Google that for a good read). Personally, I use nickel anti-sieze on the surfaces, and you really don't need to slather it on, a thin coat will do. Make certain your hubs and rotors have been wire-brushed or wire-wheeled with a grinder to remove the scale and surface rust, then apply the anti-sieze lightly, but covering the mating area. Trust me, a little goes a long ways as long as the coverage is even. I'll say it again though, *do not apply anti-sieze or any lube (PB Blaster) to the studs before mounting the wheels*. If you need to use PB to get them off, clean the studs and mounting faces of greasiness with brake cleaner first, then apply anti-sieze, then mount. Sorry for the text wall, hope this helps someone.
Watched this after already getting my spacers delivered today. I feel justified now. They are a good quality hub-centric spacer, and they came with extended bolts. 8mm for the front and 15mm in the back for a flush (but not poked out) fitment on my mk7.5 GTI.
I’ll be honest is a German SUV!! If anything goes wrong it will cost a lot of money to fix! And even some say go ahead and buy hood brands like H&R some say don’t!!! I think I’m just going to leave it alone cause any failure can cost a lot of money!!! But hey! We appreciate all the information! 👍🏻

You didn't offer advice on wheel bearings blowing up at high speed, because there is no solution. Therefore Wheel spacers + high speed = russian roulette. Also you didn't mention that Stability programme expects stock geometry on the car, and wheel spacers will invalidate minimum 500 out of 1000 scenarios for the stability programme.
Some good information. I'm surprised so many people actually opt for those super cheap ebay variants though! I mean, I know money is tight but... Your wheels are what make your car a car. Wouldn't want to use anything cheap for what connects me to the road.
Hey,do you recommend using spacers (10mm) on front and rear? I ordered a set of new wheels with correct ET numbers. When put it on I had no issues on the back but the front... my brake callipers are to big . I can't even rotate the wheel by hand. The factory oem wheels was a 17" 8J ET 43,my new wheel is a 20" 9J ET 40 My car is a 08 mercedes w221. Thank you for your time
Driving 230 km/h with a fucking spacer on the front axle is not something I'd do. even if it's made out of vibranium. Not to mention the wear that they cause.
