I mostly agree. The insane grind is usually just not worth it for the top attack helicopter in most nations. One of the best attack helicopters in the game is the KA-50, and it’s a premium so you can just buy it out right. The only helicopter better is the KA-52 and the only main difference for most players is the very useful edition of thermals. I would say it is worth it for the thermals alone for the ease of spotting targets at those long distances.
The AH MK1 takes the spot imo, not only does it have the easiest heli grind in the game but its better than the AH-64D in literally every way, finally you can first spawn witb 76 rockets and 4 semi-atgms
tbh the AH-64D is just the Peten with a radar .I have the peten and have no real rush to get the top teir american helis unless gaijin implement the Longbow system properly .
Well I have the UH-1B and I want the YAH-64 and don't buy so yeah it's wanted for some people plus 300k away from it and millions of SL I wish it was less painful also I have 11.0 so my heli is useless unless I get and apache
Ah-64 isn’t realistically modeled, it’s entirely missing it’s 1100kg of armor. Australia cited this in replacing their Tigers with Apache but in War Thunder this means nothing. Usual Gaijin BS. Tigers get their latest missile but we don’t get the newest hellfires.
Australia substitute the tigers by apaches because they have problems with Eurocopter and they want a tank hunting heli no a tactical attack and recognize heli. Also because here in Europe we have already many problems with the tiger. Also the tiger of Australia is the HAP version the first version, the rest of the members of the tiger they use the HAD and the best version. The most powerful version of the Tiger is the the Spanish one and then the German one follow by the French. Australia had the worst version of the chopper
I find the radar to be pretty useful, you can set keybind to lock onto whatever the radar detects and I detect tanks constantly. They do become kinda useless when the battlefield becomes very cluttered with dead tanks. Also maneuverability is more important than speed. You can’t outrun missiles with speed.
Tip: in ground assault for helis a mixed rocket/ATGM load out is more effective than pure ATGM loadout because the rockets can kill MBTs at close range where they’re usually engaged in this gamemode and missiles can kill the anti airs quite easily. Do as you wish of course but hellfires really aren’t so effective below 2km.
Imo for apaches 16 hellfire is better since we can kill close range target with 30mm by flying above them, and carrying rockets means sacrificing 8 potential kills.
I think for the new update the will make heli radars will be hable to lock on ground because the mi28nm will be using the krizamtema a laser/radar misile. This thing will be also added to the Ah64D because the Ah64D have the hellfire L that is also radar/laser misile. I supose that because normally gaijin add's a new feature to a vehicle and then they add the feature to all the vehicles that can have that feature.
At the moment it’s just not worth the insane grind to get AH-64D. Especially when it doesn’t offer anything significant over both the squadron Apache and the Israeli Apache currently in the US tree. Hopefully with this upcoming sale I can buy the premium German Heli, to grind the Tiger. Wish me luck, I’m going to need it to survive over 1 million RP of suffering.
Bruh, you just don't know how to use the KA50. It is by far the most agile helicopter, but you can't fly it like a helicopter; fly it like a turboprop plane and you'll see what I mean.
It is fast but things like barrel rolls which are very important for dodge SAMs are much more effective on Apaches and Tigers. With the Kamovs or Mi-28 you need much more height to get in a stable flying position. I dodged missiles with a barrel roll on the Tiger while being 100 meters above the ground (or 80 meters above tree) but if you try this in a Kamov you crash. But Ka-52 is more of a air denial weapon for me and when a game is starting to end I go ground hunting. My combined KD in it is over 3 to 1. Like with all vehicles you should now its pros and cons and master it. I used agile choppers before I grinded the russian ones and had issues because I used them not as effective as I could - just adapt whats work and what doesn't and you can master all vehicles in game.
If you change your air radar in options to make it a square shape instead of the triangle one it’s easier to pick out ground targets and you and bind in your setting to auto lock to ground targets with a single click as long as your radar picks something up. It can be annoying to cause it locks dead tanks too
just use the squadron YAH64, its practically the AH64A. Both does not have radar and lack MAW, both carries Hellfires with practical the same flight performance. I grinded through the entire US Heli tree, its not really worth it, trust me, atleast until the radar Hellfires get added. The toll it takes on your mental health is insane.
@@cutthroat795 thats not at all what I meant, I meant now that im done using the first heli the next ones as far as im aware do get atgms, maybe not stock but after 5 games that wont even matter
You probably won't read this, but I am very grateful for what you are doing. Keep up the good work and good luck to you. Sorry, I do not know English well.
its not bad overall being at 9.0 rn but it does get m774 the same shell as the 10.0 abrams as well as getting a gunner thermal sight which still gives you an advantage over some tanks at that br bracket. Honestly for me its a solid tank literally the definition of 'support' tank and not for frontline fighting. It is also my favorite tank in game and in real life but is largely super ceded by the m1138 and the mbt 70 and 808. Its not bad for late game as people tend to bring out lighter vehicles and your firepower knocks them flat. The era can useful as ive sometimes survived rocket barrages from helis and ate heat shells from all tanks. I love the damn tank but its up to you whether you want to use it or not.
When can you do a review of the AH Mk1? I'm considering buying the G-LYNX in the upcoming sale and want to know if its going to be worth the time and money. Really what I want to do is slap Ka-50s with Starstreaks.
Those starstreaks are a pain in the ass. It’s not like any other top helicopter missiles( all hellfires) that fly up and then down which takes longer. Those damn things fly right at you just like the Russian Vikrs. And you can’t shoot them down with your own ATGMs. They are probably the best dedicated anti-aircraft missile mounted on a helicopter right now in game.
I only bought the premium apache cause it was on sale and once I get my AH1Z I am immediately dropping the premium apache for the AH1Z cause I like it in real life
If anyone knows how to be able to aim and fire the cannon from 3rd person camera on helis and use the laser targeting from 3rd person in control modes more advanced than mouse aim, I'm all ears.
no matter what i do when i play this vehicle i either die to a fucking Kamov or die to a SAM bc they can lock you through forests and the hellfires are SO SLOW bc the engine doesnt burn long enough so id rather use the Tiger UHT or a Kamov
The Army WANTED the Cheyenne, but the Air Force has ALL of the political capital during this period and said that the A-10 was already going to fill the role of fast-CAS, so the army had to go with the significantly worse AH-64.
Hellfires suck, their mobility got nerfed to the ground, if firing closer then 2.5km you will over shoot your target, in terms of AA top down mode will fuck you in the ass it won't hit anything if it moves, sure they got like 1200mm of pen but I've seen alot of tanks take like 3-5 hit to kill while aiming at ammo racks, crew, center of mass, and if they move around you will also miss them
Look just like a custom battle that he hosted. Pretty fun to join these since you don’t lose anything neither gain anything other than fun and have infinite respawns.
"the Apache is not well armored" No fucking way. The Apache is the second most armored thing in the sky next to the A-10. (looks it up) Google even confirms it DOES have a lot of armor, it's just that the snail doesn't want the apache to actually have its armor otherwise it would be hard to shoot down if the enemy doesn't have AA.
