"I'm 48 years old" was probably one of the more surprising things I heard. Lookin fresh and youthful, Chris! Also, thanks again for all this content. The growth of my business owes a lot to you.
@@thefutur OMG I swear to God I really did not even hear more than your first question whether or not I would hire somebody to do tasks to do a job before I answered the first question it's something my father taught me who has a PHD in organizational management which is a business degree business doctorate rather from Capella University
Just for clarification, the 9k are not in the bank but 800 per project but the automated and scalable sales system is $$$ that is not attached to hours, plus 2200 is damn high with tiny margin, that expense needs to be revisited and improved. 🙏🚀
Everytime i reached my goals with Chris teachings, I go bored and want to get even higher, I watch the Chris videos again and I start to do all the stuff he says and I grow again. Thanks Chris for Amazing work.
I have seen thousands of videos on Business, Motivation, Creating Social Media. Plus have seen hundreds of Documentaries. Sure there's a good ones but Chris you are by far an Exceptional Master of sharing your Wisdom in an easy way to comprehend manner. (I Prayed for resources for the next level of my Education via RU-vid and the Lord brought me to you Chris.) I Am Grateful The Lord and I send my Gratitude to you Chris.
@@thefutur I found you guys because I figured selling a logo must be one of the more difficult things to market out there, and if I learned how that worked I could apply it to product design. Totally changed my product design business. By applying your recommendations on how to handle clients I've now done design work for Post Malone, Atlas Robotics, and the CEO of AMD. Thank you.
the amount of value thoooooooo. Genuinely don't know how this is free. You're really out here teaching me more than my $100k business degree did in 2 hrs. Thank you!
Great content as always, no doubt about that. The message is the right one and I totally dig it. Still, at 51:20 the guy made a point right there. You cant take the 3k USD into consideration for the potential IG leads. You need to calculate that with the gross profit of 800 USD, because you are using feelancers to do the job. That leaves you with 3x800 = 2400 USD (25% scenario) vs 2420 USD for the investment. Again, the basic approach of outsourcing work that other can do is of course the way to go, but the comparison wasn't fair there.
Right - I was frustrated by that comparison, and wish the questioner dug into it a bit (you could tell he really wanted to discuss gross revenue v. net profit). Ultimately, the $ potential + external opportunities still teeters toward hiring out, but the point would have been more impactful if addressed, esp. when scalability is taken into account (ie, What if you pick up 4 leads per post? 10?)
Yh but if you take into consideration even having those jobs in the first place, then it makes sense again. You invest the time in something else, to get 3 new Deals in rather than 1.
I'm not even a designer, but I'm preparing to start a new business and so much of what you say is soo important for other industries as well! Thank you so much, Chris!
Through all this years of my as youtube user, I haven't commented on more than 2-3 videos. This video of Brother Chris is rare piece of knowledge.. I think this insights can be applied to any domain of Product, service or any business.. Goldmine of Knowledge..Chris you have also removed many complications from my head.. Thank you.... This video deserves at least 100K+ views in 7 days...please watch this video people and share.. You will learn many things.
I learned a lot from this whiteboard session!! I started a small icon studio about a year ago, it's just me doing all the client work and hustling on my own goals for this studio, and it was really chaos that I couldn't manage my time at all. Then I found your whiteboard session "How to run a studio" and keep repeating that video until I have enough balls to scale up. The good news is, I just recruited one junior designer not long ago to mentor and help me do the work, and it's all because of your contents!! Thanks a lot Chris!! Now I can focused on growing the studio.
Your income seldom exceeds your? “effort” this is the answer that popped into my head. And I was pleasantly surprised to see that it is in line with the answer of personal development. Thanks a lot Chris u’ve really made me think.
Oh my god never would I thought you would be on here. Btw I really respect how much you put in to motorcycle community, your videos also made me more aware as a rider.
I speak as a "living example" of effectiveness of the Chris's approach. I am a sustaining member. This means that ,even if I cannot (yet) afford to be in the PRO-group or taking a boot camp, I am so grateful for the value that I received on many different levels that I feel the need to DONATE what I can .....This is the first time I see a model of "virtuous" capitalism in action ;-) Chris is just an amazing human being ! Thanks.
I know that this is for designers, but I own a security company and your business principles apply almost universally. So I'm learning from you. In regards to hiring people, of course I can do the job better than most, because I'm highly experienced, trained, educated (in security management), and I'm really good at what I do. But I can't protect everyone or every client's property by myself. So the alternative is to teach others how to do it my way, and then pay them to do so. So in my case, hiring others to do the job isn't even a question, it's absolute.
Interesting point on coaching the gap which I’d love to be expanded on more future videos as there’s more designers wanting better quality of workplace but still contribute to a company instead of owning a business. The thing is that many businesses expectations is that you come 100% on their project vision and that 25% help is omitted. How can the futur better equip these designers to have a fighting chance and come to better terms with their employers?
Let's get this vdieo to 200k so he will keep it up please lol. Love the content as a young gun!!!!! Just getting started all I needed is right here on this channel!!! All my questions etc. Always excited to get notified of a new upload or a stream. I am investing in my personal develop and to try n take on the marketing n then customer service.
This is my second time watching this, I think I finally get it! Ima watch it one more time and while i follow along. I got some updates, things are finally happening, I’m making it happen thanks to you, my wife and fam.
Mannnn these whiteboard sessions are a gift sent from Heaven. As someone who's looking forward to launching my studio, the timing is more than perfect. Thank you CHRIS & THE FUTUR (sounds like a name of a band :P )
Thanks Chris for such a valuable information. Non-dogmatic, meaningful flow of thinking. The best on RU-vid. In our Russian-Ukrainian place it is hard to find such a big “business Socrate”. Listening for your lectures and dialogues is literally mind-opening. Great thanks to you!
Wow... Hodrigo’s (sp?) background story is exactly like mine except I’m from France, my parents are cambodian and we moved to indiana. They also ran their own restaurant and they expected me to only go to school, get rich and live happily ever after. But I’m far from their goal. Decided to go my own way and that’s why I’m watching tour videos to learn.
The Eisenhower Matrix is actually designed to determine urgency and importance and is set up as follows: Upper left quadrant: urgent/ important = Do Now Lower left quadrant: urgent / not important = Delegate Upper right quadrant: not urgent / important = Decide/Schedule when to do it Lower right quadrant: not urgent / not important = Delete / eliminate the task Great video otherwise! 😊
Doing it yourself forces you to create better systems to do the work that could help reduce opportunity cost of the labor - which you can use to better estimate the cost of the work and provide proof it can be done efficiently for freelancers who are not as adept as you lol plus you can charge them for the system. Both A + B find a way - Divs work when you have large sums of money to contribute regularly = passive income that allows lifestyle - I say try to get "rich" quick and then hire more people is the way to go. Coffee is for closers -sales sales sales #1 way to help your business - forces you to solve problems for customers to add value. Video is a great example of a system for making better decisions faster - Keep it up Futur staff Like the use of the tech to reach different groups at the same time. - Much Luv from Kansas City MO
I loved this, been watching for years, I grew up in San Diego, and Kansas City, but here in Asia now, the Philippines developing my business...and yet, this was my FAVORITE video of all time from you. As I help (black and Filipino) entrepreneurs, this was an awesome way to explain 'value' to my fam...and how to scale. Thanks! -Kareem Jackson
Thank you so much for this. It built upon nicely from the previous whiteboard session. This has been an eye opening experience taking all this information in.
You really strike the nerve on planing and busy life style we all fall victims to with out knowing what is it we are doing. I have learned a lot from you and spreading your words to loved ones and real friends ❤️❤️, Your insight into the heart of entrepreneurship is amazing and i hope i can get the chance of being a wolf someday.. Thank you Chris, thank you futur
@@thefutur I could have used that awhile ago. I FINALLY realized that I was wasting a LOT of time trying to learn all sorts of coding languages and frameworks, and that it was adding zero value to my business.
The previous session "How to Run a Studio" is fire. Haven't finished it yet, but the time bit made a lot of sense. I wonder why I don't have time outside of working on client work, when my personal marketing is suffering. So good.
Woow when I saw that the video was 2h long, I said, no way I am not whatching this, hahah but it hooked me until the very end of it. That was some very valuable content, it made me check the website and think about buying a course. THANK YOU!!!
52:50 how you messed it up is: If his plan is to delegate the work, he's only bringing in 800 per client, not 3000. So he's looking at 2400 vs 2200, not 9k vs 2200. Plus it will take some time to delegate and manage the 3 additional projects. I'd still go with option B because of the other benefits, but you're assuming he wants to spend 60 hours doing the next 3 projects himself. Still, great content!
It’s time to sit down and start creating the plans. @Chris These days, I have been trying in switching from Solopreneur to Entrepreneur and these 2 whiteboard sessions made my way easy. @Chris I had always a lot of other plans other than work :: Now I know why I could not execute them. Thanks for the great content.
What I understand is that if you outsource your "first" job you would earn less money ($800), but it gives you time (20 hours). When you spend that time on marketing and closing more deals you would have more jobs to work on. What will happen if you leverage that. Let's say you get 3 new jobs from marketing and you again outsource that? That would mean you would have 3 times the amount of time available on the first job. That would be 60 hours on marketing and 3 x $800 in your pocket. That would theoretically mean you could gain 3 x more new jobs after that. That would be 9 new jobs. Now we all have to make a living so at some point you might want to do 1 job yourself and outsource 8 jobs? Of course this outcome would be when you are consistent and the results are consistent. It makes total sense to take little profit at the start to grow your business income stream. You could also do it the way around. You do the job and you hire someone to do marketing for you that could do it better and faster. That would cost less money and takes less time.
I think I see his point. Your math says 2% of 15 leads, converting 7 of those leads at $3k a piece is $21k. But he's not making $3k per job, he's paying other people to do the work so he's only making $800 per conversion. So it's more like 15 leads * 50% * $800 = $5600. Which is still more than the $2400.
Awesome knowledge! Thank you for keeping it real. It’s so awesome to see Southeast Asians coming up to share wisdom. I’ve so much to learn and I appreciate your content! 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽
This is amazing! Thank you, Chris and The Futur team for bringing this to us! My biggest "fear" is hiring someone else to work with me BUT this has made it easier to understand how to best utilize other people for you.
These lessons are amazing. There's not a lot of professionals in the world giving out in depth useful advice on how to be critical of yourself, and how to put together a business plan like in this video. You are a hero. Fullstop.
amazing video Chris as always. Thank you. I've broken out as a freelance videographer and apply your techniques to pricing and value discussions all the time. It's genuinely making me more money. Thank you so much!
Hello The Futur family! I have a question that I'm struggling with.. hope someone can help me.. * Should I share my knowledge through my Business Brand or create a Personal Brand that points to the Business? Thank you for all the amazing stuff, Chris!
Whatever you intend to share, does that have anything to do with your business? If yes, combine them. Share some stories about your business and some knowledge. If they are completely different realms, it is better to keep them separate
Where would you put Case Neistat´s ad business in this? I feel there can be some nice middle ground. Where there is something that you are doing very well and are known for, like editing (style), or the creative direction (ideas). But are still talking to the client directly as in strategy and cashing appropriate money (not just brick laying money), and probably still hire help and delegate some of it. But still keep your hand in the craft/creation too in what you are most known for or want to keep doing because you get the satisfaction from it.
Please fix the sound. Your levels are extremely low which is compounded by the many much louder commercials at the start of the video. Makes it where i have to ride the fader through a long video. Otherwise great content! This is good stuff.
Love these whiteboard sessions! Will share to have more! :D One question, what are "spec projects"? On Google I find "project specifications" but I don't think that's what you guys were talking about...
Rodrigo missed the point. Getting $800 per project, if he manage 4 projects, he already will be making more than those initial $3000. And if he manage 8 projects, he will double that income. All of this without putting the hands on the project. Of course he would work, but he would not be worried about not making enough.
Another great lesson Chris. I have a question it would be good to hear your thoughts on it: there are people who contact me asking for quoted on animation commissions where I know they can't afford my rate. Often mom and pop businesses from developing countries. It's multiple times what they could afford, often a factor of 10 above what they would be willing to pay. Hitting them with that number seems like a bit of an "F you" to them. Do you have a more gentle way of letting them know "you can't afford this"? Or should I just be frank with them?
@@thefutur But it does. This is the real world. And in the real world of business, we have to manage expectations, deliver good customer service, and build goodwill even when the prospects for profit are slim-to-none. (If for no other reason than not building goodwill can generate ill-will towards the business.)
@@w0mblemania remember, like Chris always says; We are in the business of making money. So are mom & pop shops. They don't invest in our services because "it's nice", it's because we provide value. If you do good work, your work pays for itself. If your client sees the value of your work, they will pay up. Of course there are a lot of situations where the initial investment is just too much for your client, and that's fine. If your client can't afford you, they just can't afford you. That's all there is to it. If you want to build goodwill, do it for free, not for cheap.
52:48 Yes, you're comparing cash with revenue. In case A I have $2420 and can cash out anytime. In case B I made $9k but spent $6.6k hiring people and a lot more time dealing with the leads once I've got them. So I can make $2.4k working 20hrs then doing nothing or $2.4k working 20hrs then working some more. I understand the overall argument but this example just doesn't check out. If I am given the choice between both options and that is exactly how they are, I will pick A.
