Hi Dami! I just moved to London, Ontario last year from the Caribbean and I’m having a hard time finding a groove and meeting new people here 😅. I wanted to know if you had any tips or advice on how to help that. Thanks ✨
Hi Olivia Welcome to London 😊 TBH, making friends really depends on your personality and the kind of things you like. I’ve also not made a lot of friends since I came here over 2 years ago. Dm me on IG @thedamilima lets connect 😊
It's the culture... I've been here almost ten years (Calgary) and still haven't made much friends. What I find is that most of the "fun" here is drinking and partying which may not click with you. Also, convos you may have with Canadians are just surface... nothing deep and meaningful which isn't what we as Caribbean s are used to... We like being real and you'll find most here aren't which can make it difficult to connect.
Hi Lima. Thanks for the information. I will be attending Fashawe this May and I am finding it difficult getting a direct flight to London. Please which Airlines are recommended to get me there without much hassles?
London's population is not 450 people it is about 500,000. London is not 130 kms from Toronto it is 195 kms. You are correct that London is lacking a social environment, it is extremely difficult to get around, with a terrible transit system, buses are costly, to taxpayers, and hardly used - empty buses frequently drive around the city. The cost of housing is extremely expensive, according to the IMF in 2013 Canadian housing was overpriced by 60% since then the cost of housing has quadrupled. The City if filthy and is a regional centre for homelessness, drug addicts and the mentally ill. The health care system is awful one man died in the local hospital's emergency room and was dead for 48 hours before staff even noticed.
Wouldn't recommended ..we sitting on 25 million anonymous donation and we still haven't built one new house for the for the homeless population or affordable housing in better words not one house has been built since the beginning of the year
Hi Faith. I’m not sure there is a Canadian group. There may be a school specific group or community specific group. Find out from people in same school as you, also ask people in the same city as you.
