the problem is there is really no jobs unless you wanna work call center / fast food ect... i grew up in sj and that was the reason i left . hindsight , i shoulda bought multiple properties there over yrs when they were alot cheaper
Love your video and commentary. I spent most of my life in NB, first at CFB Gagetown for 4 years and 26 years in Moncton. Moved back home to Cape Breton Island after separating from my wife 10 years ago. I have always thought that Saint John was the nicest city in Atlantic Canada and the Grand Bay/Westfield area as the most scenic. Where in your opinion is the nicest part of Saint John to live in? I hope to move back to NB. I have 3 adult children there along with friends I've known the longest. Your video has given me "the feels"! 😊 It's put that idea in head and makes sentimental for the area. I definitely wouldn't move to Moncton again. It's just gotten too crazy with all the construction and buildings popping up everywhere. I want somewhere peaceful. Thanks again for the wonderful video.
Thank you for your kind words. We agree that Saint John is the nicest city in Atlantic Canada to live, but which part depends on your preferences. For us, we love the Fundy Heights neighbourhood on the west side for its proximity to ocean beaches, great neighbours and adorable older homes. The most popular area for buyers is Quispamsis. Come for a visit, take a look around, get a feel for the city and decide for yourself. Thanks for watching.
My husband and I have been watching your videos for almost two years and are always thrilled when you post a new one! Our planned trip to Saint John for 2020 got derailed by Covid, but we are so excited to finally be able to make it to Saint John. We hope to be there some time next month, and are looking forward to catching some autumn colours while exploring prospective neighbourhoods to settle in. We have learnt so much about Saint John from your videos and Facebook group and are so grateful for everything you have done for anyone looking to move to Saint John. We cannot wait!! ❤️❤️
Thank you very much Denise. Your comments mean a lot to us. If you have any questions about anything while you're here, don't hesitate to give us a call. (Unless you are working with a realtor, in which case you should direct your questions to them.) Enjoy your trip.
@@WeLoveSaintJohn That's so kind :) We actually would like to get in touch as we would not trust anyone else to advise us on the best neighbourhoods for our needs/concerns and the purchasing process, when the time comes. It would be lovely if we could meet while we're in Saint John. Could we contact you by email?
@@denisefletcher1608 Absolutely. Our email is welovesaintjohn@royallepage.ca or you can call/text us at 506-607-3095 anytime. We would love to represent you and we always work in the best interests of our clients.
Long time saint johner here those houses lower west were 100k probably 5 years ago the city has been flooded with outsiders buying up all the properties and has priced out the local population. Anyone under 30 who owns a home lives 30 minutes to an hour outside of the city in a fixer-upper bungalow. Young people are staying home much later and later in life than ever before. The houses may be cheap compared to Vancouver but theres no jobs here we have some of the highest homelessness rates in the country. Tiny apartments in the ghetto cost 1k$ a month when 5 years ago they were 500$. Theres a reason they say if you already have a remote job move here because if you dont good luck paying that 300k$+ mortgage with the state of the local job market. If you are out the province and considering moving here please dont the only way the locals will be able to afford to buy houses will be when people stop moving here and the housing market eventually crashes.
Prices have increased a lot in the 5 years that we have lived here, I agree with you there. As far as the local job market, I couldn't disagree more. While some of our clients work remotely, many have been recruited by employers here, and none have had any problems finding work. we have one of the oldest populations in the country, many of whom are retiring. Businesses are in desperate need of workers here of all types. This is why all the Atlantic provinces have invested heavily in attracting immigrants. And by the way, two people making minimum wage can afford that 300k mortgage. Try that anywhere else in the country. Money coming in from elsewhere is what is funding renovations and revitalizations on homes and neighbourhoods that have been neglected for decades. Yes, rents have risen too, but they are still among the most affordable in the country. Saint John needs the growth and investment that is happening in the city, that has already happened in every other major city in Canada.
hello,I will be working in saint john new brunswick soon.probably late this year or early next year..watching your video makes me so excited to live and work there soon❤️🙏🏻. hopefully find a place I can afford to live😊. Take care always and God bless!😊
If and when I do move back to Saint John on the lower West Side I would like to buy my grandparents house back and even if it's not for sale I would offer a good amount to the owners because I know for a fact the host is not look up to date and property looks like it's not taken care of
Nice homes. As a US citizen who looks to transit in due time, how do I go about purchasing a home with your agency and raise my child in Canada? #lol crawling to the school 😄
@@WeLoveSaintJohn I've been following you guys since the beginning. And every now and then, like now. I check in and see what areas you show. I'm from Ontario and they help tremendously :)
Hello my wife and I are trying to find the best place to start our lives and since yesterday we have been watching your videos. However, we didn't see if you guys work with rent, we are from Brazil with a little dogm a pug.
Thank you for the info guys! We are looking to move in a few months to Moncton from Australia and gives us a very good idea about the market. Cheers, Miguel & Nat
What is happening in saint john, I applied for AIP program and I haven't been able to get my Certificate of Endorsement for over a month now. I hope all is well
As with any city, some neighbourhoods will suit certain people more than others. Unless you are living in the shadow of the refinery or mill, there is no smell issue. Unless you think fresh ocean breezes smell bad.
@@WeLoveSaintJohn Thank you so much for answering! We heard about the smell from people who used to live in Saint John long, long ago. So that's why I was asking. If it's not too much trouble, can I ask something else? Can you guys drink tap water?
I wonder what will happen to the new students coming in.. the rental markets have started to scare me now.. is it safe to book rentals in advance before coming to Saint John for international student ?
The rental market has tightened up a lot but rents in Saint John are still among the lowest in the country. I'm not sure if you can book a rental in advance but if you deal with someone online, please make very sure you know who you are dealing with. There are a lot of scammers out there.
OMG it was so awesome to see (through your lovely video) my favourite place/beach on the westside... Bayshore beach. What a beautiful age for me to bring back so many treasured memories of my growing up years. Wendy & Les you greatly enriched this part of my day. Thank you & bless you both! I am still working towards moving back. When? Soon! Should I need any help I will touch base with you. 💕🫂💕🫂💕😊🥰
Thank you, as always, for watching. It's humbling to hear that our video could affect your day in a positive way. We hope you will get to enjoy the beauty of Saint John in person again soon.
Absolutely! We love Saint John, but we have helped clients buy homes in Moncton too, and several other parts of the province. Feel free to call or text 506-607-3095 or email welovesaintjohn@royallepage.ca
I don't remove negative comments. The only comments I remove are offensive ones, or consistently baseless lies from trolls. And by the way, this channel started long before we became Realtors. As we have said many times, we only became Realtors due to our viewers asking for help moving into the area.
