Free Gigs, should you take them? Really a lot of factors are in play when deciding to do a freebee. Let me know what you guys think in the comments.

Got to start somewhere and it's ok doing a few free gig's... did some freebies for charity and helped people less fortunate, it's good experience if you're able to turn up the volume and see the reaction to your playing.. and hope the audience appreciate your efforts, freebies is the only way to start out and learn from it!👍🎸☺

Killer video and the subject was brilliant. Love it bro. Miss gigging. You guys sound great man. I love 3 piece. People used to tell me they are the hardest to "Tighten" but the couple I was in years ago, to me was the best. I played keys next to my drum kit. A few tunes played both same time. Nothing impossible with 3 piece. Plus drummer and bassist carry a load well and the guitar is vocal.

Man you were rippin’ on that Tele. And I’ve seen you playing through quite a few amps now , but I still say that Katana sounds awesome live as your pedal platform and has got to be super gig-friendly for you. So forget the free gigs: BTK (Bischoff/Tele/Katana) = money in the bank. Rock on young man!

My band, back in the day (late 80's early 90's), took free gigs for two reasons. One, experience, two, exposure. I think for young musicians, who are more likely to need such experience, and even exposure, SOME free gigs, is a good idea, just don't get taken advantage of. As for more mature, experienced players/bands, I think it's what you say....how valuable is your time, and what are the potential gigs that could come from a free gig? I could see a band, who's been stuck home the last year, and maybe wanting to dust off some cobwebs, taking a free gig. BUT....free should include a meal .....a mans gotta eat.

Totally awesome, Rich. You guys are even better than Scrantonicity. Great sound in this one. You guys were locked in, and it looked like you had some fun.

What's the bar tab limit? Haha, just kidding. Kinda. Not really. I don't have people to call for drums, bass, or keyboard. Honestly, the only "gigs" I've had recently have been background music at funeral viewings and wakes. By the fourth song, if I'm playing it smart, I could just leave my looper on and add soothing melody tracks over the loops. Some Ben Harper, Leonard Cohen by way of Jeff Buckley, some re-imagined Norah Jones, and if I'm feeling creative, some vaguely soulful hymn chords with a decently soulful melody picked out on top. Those are about the only live gigs I've been willing to play during the pandemic because I get to sit in a corner of the room out of the way. Lots of compressor to keep spikes from disturbing mourners, simple chord progressions and rolled back melodies.

Great Job, 3 men so playing the Nashville Tele for an hour or two is pure fitness exercise🥴 ( sounds great Srv/Hendrixisch like..)

I don't see Mcdonalds giving out free burgers at least not near me so your professional time has a value, thats the way I see it anyway 👍😁

If I was good at playing guitar and I play because I really enjoy it then absolutely, however things I would take into consideration first is for who, where and when. On the other hand if I was a professional selling out huge concerts all over the world then probably not, only maybe once in a great while for a worthy cause.

Nice Vid Rich! I DONT DO FREE GIGS! If it’s a Benefit for a Good Cause I’ll do a set but that’s all if I only have to bring a Guitar and Pedalboard. You wind up getting noted for doing Benefits and other Free Gigs if you do too many, then all these Organizations and individuals come out of the Wood Work wanting you to work for free and if you do so it’s VERY hard to get out!! Cheers from Salem, Ohio!

Hah, I play for free every Sunday at church. You gotta enjoy playing, or it’s not worth it.

i remember the first time busking with friends in the city , we earned $ 40 but back at the borrowed car we had a parking ticket $80 . i guess FREE would have been a better deal ;-) but hell yeah , it doesnt hurt to give back to your fellow men every now and then , would a comedian not make jokes on parties ?

Yep we had a bandmate get towed once. Made hundreds in tips, just to pay to get his car out. That sucked.

Yes, so kind. To be fair that venue is right by a bunch of condos or senior living housing. I about said just take out your hearing aids.

@@RichBischoff Yeah, I can't fault her. You guys sounded great, but anything would be annoying if you're that close and didn't sign up for it hah. What is up with that location???

Been watching a lot of your videos. Is that your own sound setup? You should do a video on that. We always hire out our sound to a friend but I think we could get away with what you use.
