Even despite the weird reputation of SS4, SS3, and SS2, I still really like all of the serious sam games This franchise will always be my favorite horde shooter!
Best horde shooter for SURE!!! SS2 has gone from a game I wasn’t interested in to a game I VERY curiously want to try!!! So many people recommend it! Thank you for sharing !🙏🤘💯👍💪
Never related to a Serious Sam take more. I like all the games, including the ones you listed. Unfortunately, they're incredibly divisive, with the community literally wanting carbon copies of TFE and TSE, and complaining and being toxic over the most ridiculous things in the later games. Honestly, the SS community is just as bad as the Halo or CoD community at this point
@@maltsutty I like all the Serious Sam games,I didnt played serious sam 4 yet but I will, the first one I played was hm Serious Sam 2 back when it come out in 2005 and i like even today.
@@ashhabimran239hey late reply but what would you hope for if they revealed SAM5 was in development!?! They’ve refined the formula so I can’t imagine the crazy stuff they’d need to think up
@@tomislavtakac873coincidentally Sam 2 is the only one I haven’t played !!! I really wish they’d remaster it or hell even a remake could have big potential
I've never played the series until last (!) year, bought the whole bundle on steam as part of an effort to play through stuff i've missed, and I've enjoyed every second so far. Its really nice to catch a vid from the perspective of someone replaying it.
Thank you for watching, commenting and sharing your story with the game ! I played the OG game back in early 2000’s but never followed up after the first encounter (and the ps2 game). But going back with this collection is sooooooo fun , that old school game design is executed near perfect here ! Thanks again for commenting 😁🙏✅🤘💯
I always love how big and atmospheric map in these games. TSE was my favourite, the map in that game was really giving me this big surreal ancient place, I fucking love it. I also really don't like the syle of 3 at first when I beat it, but now I wanna try it again after watching your review. (btw I really love your casual style review here man, It's kinda relaxing I dunno why lol I'm weird)
You’re absolutely right about the huge scale of those maps and the ancient vibes ! Loved the variety in TSE! Thank you and Glad you liked the review , I have a Sam4 video coming up next 🔥🤘
Cannon does more damage when it is charged up. Flat damage for Cannon is 425 + 25 but fully charged up Cannon does 750 + 25 damage in total. With fully charged Cannon you can one shot Major Bio-Mechanoids and 2 shot Khnuums. Also non charged cannon can pierce up to 3 medium sized enemies before cannonball explodes. Small sized enemies will always gib no matter how long that Cannon charged and cannonball will only explode when cannonball lost its all velocity after any enemy hit on it. I don't know if anyone need this information but yeah here it is.
I agree with you on Serious Sam 3. I've recently been playing through the franchise on my channel, and Serious Sam 3 has really stood out to me as being severely underrated. I actually didn't like it the first time I played it, but now I love it
Same here bruv!! The first few levels where it’s easing you into the combat almost turned me off of the game but maaaan once mentals shit hits the fan the game is so intense and addictive!!! Thanks for watching and sharing 🙏🤘💯🔥🙏🙏
I only ever played serious Sam 3 on my brother's pc on split screen and we managed to find so many bugs and imperfections (probably just because we used one outdated pad over some better piece) but I never really played more despite really wanting it. Now, I think I'm gonna buy a bundle and see it for myself... But tfe would be first, obviously ;) Also, maybe, probably, possibly fun fact - similar treatment occured for heroes of might and magic. Nobody liked 4th installment but it's decent and probably my favourite.
Sam 3 was good but the 1st city levels are awfull. Also the last canyon level is a bit pain inducing with how much crap they throw at you at once. Outher than that the only outher issues i have are how much the warebulls seem to be nerfed here, how sum enemys like to get stuck on walls, how anoying the witch brides are and how corny 3rd person meles look as it has obsurd range and just looks like sam just teleports in frount of enemys that are several feel away to rip them apart. Imagine ur one of thoes spiders. But sudenly sam spawns in frount of you and for a second you hear the ultra instinct sound as he rips ur head off.
I first played Serious Sam on the original Xbox. It was a standalone version of the first and second encounters made into one seamless game. One of the only down sides to that game was that it didn’t have any online support. It did however, have system link support. My friends and I had many hours of fun playing through the story together on system link.
Local multiplayer will always hold a special place in my heart. Can't beat playing fun games with buddies in the same room havin a laugh and cooperating in game! And you had the one Sam console game I actually haven't played! Ive heard it's the best way to play the original 2 encounters so I am jealous! a generous buddy of mine offered to let me borrow his 360 AND the 360 sam game. It's only a matter of time before I take him up on that offer lol. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience with the Sam franchise!!!! 😁😁😎💯👍👍🙏
@@maltsutty definitely take him up on it. I haven’t played the original Xbox version in years. So I’m not exactly sure if it holds up against the HD remakes, but I still have it though and I’ll have to compare them sometime.
The quality of these videos are top notch. Great editing and commentary man. I got The Second Encounter in basically a bargain bin in the UK store Gamestation (next to.... the Microsoft flight sims lmao). Although I always struggled when I was young since the game was pretty difficult.
Thank you so much dude I appreciate that !!! And even bigger thanks for sharing that! Hilarious to know it occupied WORLD WIDE budget retail space 🤣🤣 but still, worldwide success is still worldwide success 🔥🔥🔥
Oh hell yeah, I boot up most all the Sam games on a regular basis 🎉🔥💯🤘💪💪 hell I even ventured into the Talos Principle due to my fondness for Croteam! What’s your favourite Sam title ???
I remember I was a 10 year old kid when I first played a demo of Serious Sam The Second Encounter and my god I have been hooked on Serious Sam since then Recently played Serious Sam 4 with it's Siberian Mayhem DLC and I must say this Serious Sam 4 is a masterpiece no matter what people say And Siberian Mayhem is one of the best DLCs ever made for a mainline entry If Serious Sam 3 BFE (I have played that and it's DLC as well and it's simply legendary) is serious then Serious Sam 4 is simply mental Game developers should actually learn something from games like Serious Sam You can make a game as simple as giving a guy like Sam a couple of weapons and hoardes of enemies and it's party time But nowadays games are simply focused on identity politics and being submissive to delusional woke ideologies Seriously (no pun intended) waiting for Serious Sam 5 🔥🔥
I was first introduced to Serious Sam when I watched my father play it as a kid. Ever since then, I have been a hardcore fan of the series. I do also recommend Serious Sam 4, but do be aware that it is quite divisive. It was in development for about 10 years and faced multiple problems during production, so keep that in mind when playing it. But after that, _absolutely_ play Siberian Mayhem. It is probably the best game in the entire series and my personal favourite. It is essentially the Sonic Mania of Serious Sam, being made by passionate fans and modders with official support from Croteam. It even had an update that added a New Game+ mode that changes enemy placements and adds additional modifiers to make the game way harder! (Currently only on the Steam version, but the update will come to consoles later on)
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience ! Reminds me of my childhood watching my dad play games like this , Quake and redneck rampage to name a few lol. I actually did pick up #4 and am having a blast with it so far ! But forreal you got me so hyped on Siberian Mayhem! I especially love the sound of that NG+ mode ! Once again appreciate the insight and comment , thank you !🤘🙏💪💯
I share your love for Serious Sam 3 (and Doom 3 too), even though it's so overlooked. I did bug a friend to play it and he had a pretty good time... except for the intense wrist pain he got after the final level, heh heh :D
I'm watching this after I played Serious Sam collection in 2023 haha. Few years back I bought the Xbox Original with Serious Sam to relive my childhood. Fantastic game.
How’d you end up liking the collection !?!? To be honest it straight up reignited my love of the franchise . I plan on going back and playing the Xbox version too at some point !!! Wish they’d port next encounter too🤞🤞🤞
@@maltsutty I enjoyed the collection alot. There was 1 minor thing I didnt like and that was the health and armour bars that wasnt the same as the original Xbox but apart from that, brilliant! Go for it. It will defo be worth the money.
I'm a huge fan of the series and have been playing it for years, it is my favorite video game franchise hands down. I love your video and your style how it's just laid back. I have one question, have you ever played Serious Sam: Next Encounter on Gamecube or PS2?
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed ! And to answer your question I have only played the DEMO of next encounter. It came on one of those legendary Official PlayStation Magazine demo discs , wish I still had it !
@Malt Sutty I think that you should definitely check out the full game if you ever get the chance, it's a blast. You can run it through dolphin emulator on pc and it works great.
Fun fact, serious sam 3 was made out of two other games that were both canceled. One was an untitled military fps (which the street sections come from) and the other was a pitch for doom 4. The cloned soldiers, khnum, scrapjack, and one of the player models all came from the pitch.
This is not true and there is no source to confirm this. Serious Sam 3 began development before the cancelled military shooter, called TEOR. It’s TEOR reusing assets from BFE, not the other way around. Stop repeating that lie from that stupid Civvie video that is full of misinformation.
I have like a tradition for myself where I play TSE every year once. However I never played the HD versions of TFE or TSE, just don't like the HD versions and probably will never play them.
That is a respectable and admirable tradition that I feel I’m gonna have to copy for myself lol the games are indeed timeless fun. The HD versions are great in my opinion but hey you can’t beat the classics and I still love to boot up both the classic encounters as well from time to time ! Thanks for sharing 🙏💯🔥🤘🙏
Small error: You said this is available for PC.. It's not really, at least in one important way. Which kinda matters because while SS1/2 are pretty much the same as the HD versions on steam, SS3 was never really updated much since its release in 2011, I think it was last updated 2013 though hard to find the final patch notes. Anyways they did release the 2017 "fusion" beta engine that can run SS3.. But to be fair ,they changed the gameplay a lot to the point it's not quite the same game, different achievements also, and it also introduced a lot of bugs, many of which i think they will never fix. So yea looking at the footage kinda shocked they seem to have updated the SS3 engine for this PS4 release. Mainly the post processing looks a like cleaner and overall graphics are slightly better than max settings on PC. You can go beyond max settings with console commands on PC to achieve a similar look in the fusion engine i think, but the post processing will still look worse (and gameplay be different due to some weapons changes, etc).
I think you only need the paid subscription(s) on console if you wanna play online multiplayer. Local MP is available offline but ya I would say absolutely get this game. at that price it’s a steal and if you love single player you’ll go nuts for the amount of content and levels they cram in… and the performance is beautiful
I fukkin love max payne with a passion ,literally my favorite game, beat it over 30 times easily. i sadly knOw The whole game word for word. THE FLESH OF FallEN ANGELs 😂. I played serious sam first encounter on pc when i was a kid.
Ngl I LOVE Serious Sam 2 (not the second encounter) I grew up with Serious Sam 2 and I love it the other games are also amazing like Serious Sam 3 I love that one aswell
I think just because of how much I love the other mainline games I’m gonna HAVE to try it eventually . Especially with comments like this praising it ! Thanks for sharing 🙏✅🤘💯🙏🙏🙏👍
@@maltsutty no problemo tho I gotta warn u the jokes Sam makes are sometimes cringy and I Love it and how the weapons look and how the maps are made is just amazing.
@@Y0RV I can handle any amount of cringe jokes as long as it’s coming from SAM lol I’m actually super excited to try it and see how the gameplay compares to the others! And the level design looks extremely colourful and over the top I’m looking forward to the change of scenery so to speak 😄😄😁
@@maltsutty Ngl the 1.9 update they did was awesome it added double wielding so u can use 2 guns and once and u can sprint like ss3 it's AMAZING. Ur gonna love it

I can respect your position , having recently screwed around in SS1 OG I can agree it has great style and mystical atmosphere ✅✅👍👍 I can’t hate on the HD tho it’s pretty crispy
Great video. I grew up playing Doom II and Duke Nukem 3D but missed out on Serious Sam when they first came out. Played it this year and now I'm a big fan too. Not trying to gatekeep, but I recommend trying on PC when you can for the mods and maps. There's an amazing Doom mod for SS3 and someone remade the first several levels of Duke Nukem 3D in SS3. Just subbed!
Thanks for the sub brother I truly appreciate it and will do my DAMNEDEST to meet/exceed your expectations 🤝😎🙏💪🔥💯🤘 btw great username Carnifex is killer. And also big thanks for the suggestion! Not gatekeepy at all lol I always welcome recommendations from likeminded fans 👊💪🙏 and tbh that’s on my goals list right now to update the PC. I used to play only PC and I went nuts with mods I loved it haha. Thanks again for watching and commenting bruv - you the real MVP!!
I 1000% think that SS4 suffers from the same "Doom 3 false hate" thing. It was buggy on launch I guess, but idk I think it's a fucking romp and I like it WAY more than SS3. and Siberian Mayhem? Literally my favorite SS game of all time. As for randomizers and modes like that - if you play on PC, every title in the series has mod support and can easily triple your play time
There is definitely ammo in the games for every gun except the revolvers in 1st& 2nd encounter and the desert eagle in 3BFE. There usually isn’t any shortage of ammo thankfully 🎉
I have the Serious Sam Collection physically for the Xbox 360. It has all three games, the Jewel of the Nile DLC, and Serious Sam Double D XXL, a very enjoyable side scroller.
Wish I could help answer that! The guides all say to “survive the storm at grand cathedral” so I’m actually not entirely sure what that means … I assume it meant beat the wizard boss fight during the rainy storm 🧐🧐🤔🤔🤔 anyone else chime in!? Lol
9:52 Finally, a worthy opponent for Quake 😎 Jokes aside, I enjoyed BFE as much as the other ones. Each game had places that were a bit boring or overwhelming compared to the others, but in 3 I only disliked some underground maps, even those early parts were saved by how fun the hammer was.
Ya tbh I didn’t even mind the underground parts too much , none of them were long enough to annoy me and sometimes you’d find unexpected enemies down there too which was fun . Also LOL about the quake comment 🤣😂🤣😂
Just my opinion so don't kill me in the comments but I enjoy serious sam more than doom, and quake (by the way I love quake) also btw I love the video you did a extremely good job breaking the collection down. You got a like and im subscribing I can't wait to see more of your videos
The more I play Sam, the more I can see where you’re coming from!! It has its own distinct flavour of FPS goodness similar to other shooters but unique in it’s own EXTREMELY fun way 😃💪🔥 thanks for subbing I appreciate it , and you can definitely look forward to more FPS/action game content (potentially SS4 next 😉)
I wonder how many people play Serious Sam 4 and Fusion on Console. People did prefer playing for fun instead of banning or kicking people from lobbies - console vs pc. Yet, Serious Sam Fusion uses Serious Sam 3 enemy behavour while not applying First and Second encounter cooldowns and rotation speeds of werebulls and skeer. Also if there is no heavy movement, mainly aiming, then they fixed it, cause no croteam console game was good. Only Next Encounter and Serious Sam 1 Encounter Collection are flawlessly handled by other studios. Not sure how good Serious Sam 2 was except far slower than E.C. which utilized nearly everything from the original Encounters while only cutting the least amounts of map designs.
That would be interesting to know ! And that is quite funny that the flawless console games are done by other studios lol I just wish I could play next encounter on modern consoles !!!!
Playing spilt screen on this was horrible, ss3 on ps5 and there is just so much pop in, literally the enemies will vanish and reappear right in front of you!! I’m assuming this isn’t the case with single player, but it definitely sucks a lot of the fun out when the game can barley process its self.
Tbh I haven’t played the multiplayer (split screen or online) but I can only imagine the performance tanking haaaard. It runs great in single player but ya with those large hordes and bombastic action I wouldn’t even attempt the MP. Which is sad cause SAM games seem perfect for some jolly cooperation😭 and even the single player of SAM4 was chugging so I hope in SAM5 they prioritize performance!
Getting my PC fixed this weekend, first game I’m gonna install is SS , I can’t wait to play with Kb+m that’s how I originally was introduced to Sam back in the day thru PC 💪🤘✅🤘
@@maltsutty SS3 and 2. I also played ss classic in my old windows 10 pc. But unfortunately my new windows 11 didnt run ss classic. For this i started play hd version.Except SS 4 and Syberian mayhem i played all serious sam series. I hope croteam will remastered SS2 with realastic plot and show us to defeat mental. Original SS2 not considered as a canon for its cartoony graphics but story plot in another planet is perfect. So i hope croteam will create same type of story with some realastic experinces in another planet.
I wholeheartedly appreciate the suggestion and tbh I plan on playing it the first chance I get !!!! Even if it’s aesthetically wacky I can’t deny wanting MORE SAM 🤷♂️🔥🔥🙏🙏 thanks for the comment friend
The alien monkey hunts in the dark tombs did my fucking head in when I played through SS3. It's my biggest criticism of the game. Shame too, because I do find the core combat enjoyable.
I tried auto aim for a little bit and at first I loved it but it can be waaaay too generous sometimes lol. It’s easy to notice too since the bullets leave the line of smoke or whatever that effect is
Hi I just saw this at the retro store for xbox360 I haven’t picked it up yet was thinking of picking it up. Isn’t there a serious Sam where he shoots and then the enemies turn into flowers? Also I just subscribed 😊
I gave SS3 another shot thanks to this video and the comments, i must say. Setting the 'colors' to 'Vivid' definitely fixes the feeling to me. SS3 has the best movement from all the games, is fast, you can sprint during reload unlike SS4 and you are always faster than your opponents, you style with your movements. Great game SS3 is.
I recently finished the series (you can see the playthourgh on my channel) and TSE>2>4>TFE>3 Ss3 has its moment but in most parts it’s just not enjoyable and bad optimization (like in SS4 but the tone and some weapons make this one more fun) doesn’t help. The monkeys were atrocious to fight
Interesting list of favourites bruv! Being honest I don’t know why I am so attracted to SS3BFE. Maybe because I avoided it for years based on heresay and frankly discouraging comments about it so going in with low expectations it straight up blew me away😄🤣😂🤣😄 I do agree tho there were some really weak sections and the monkeys were so bad I mostly ignored them completely lol. But when the game was good it was REALLY good imo. You and lots of other commenters are seriously making me HAVE to play SS2 now. Perhaps I’d play it and have to make another “SS # is a MISUNDERSTOOD MASTERPIECE!” Hahah. Really appreciate you sharing your opinion, I love the Sam discussion even if we favour different things in our Sam experiences !✅💯🙏🤘💪🔥😄
I played tfe for the first time in 2018, when i got my own laptop. I just went to some pyrate site and found it in low spec category, then i fall in love with series. Now i own all Sam games (even spinn offs like DoubleD) on my steam account and hundreds of hours was spent on killing those mf aliens. Sorry for my english btw
OG player. Looks good, but i prefer the nostalgic memories and won't play again. That said, if they make something new I'd try it. I think i read somewhere some of their original team my be working on Stalker 2 ?😅
A fellow BFE enjoyer? Hell yeah. That game is seriously overhated. The modern touches really don't bother me all that much, and people saying it ruins the game or it feels unbalanced. I've beaten the game several times on Serious and Mental difficulties, and I overall think it's the easiest game in the series. I enjoyed it SO much more than I thought I would on my first playthrough
Hell yeah, dude. I love SS series and haven't gotten around to playing 3 and 4 yet, so decided to do a marathon starting with TFE and TSE HD remasters. I used to play a lot of SS2 with my buddies in co-op when it came out in 2005, so I love it and would recommend you give it a shot. It's like 3, you might not like the visuals, but the game is fun as hell. Other than that great video, keep it up! :)
Its a shame it still has some bugs carried over from fusion concerning enemy behavior. Theres a chance when a enemy does a melee they relentlessly teleport to hit you. And kleers and bulls charge cooldown are bugged so they can just stop and it hit you while already charging.
I feel like even in Fidelity mode on PS5 with PS4 version the frame rate is pretty fast and fluid, might be not >60fps but definitely more then >40fps.
I will completely agree with this review. I feel serious Sam 2 deserves more love but there is the Renovation mod that makes the game a bit more believable.
I’m jealous I always wanted to try the Xbox version of Sam as it seems to be a favourite among the Sam community ! And tbh with how many releases and rereleases the early sam games got it did get confusing lol. Thanks for watching bruv 💪💯🙏
@@maltsutty it's strange how the mental fight is the hardest level by far, the expansion then eases up drastically. Even the final boss fight in Europe is WAY EASIER.
There's three weapons from Sam's arsenal that I love; The Minigun, the SBC Cannon and last, but most favorite, the A-24 Devastator. The firepower, designs and sounds make me overuse them throughout the gameplay. I just wished I had BFE, because I only have 4 & Siberian Mayhem (I love those two games, too.)
They also change the maps a little, some secrets as well, so playing the classic version ( Personally i like Classic Revolution's graphics the best from all the games) and the HD versions are different enough that they don't feel like playing the same thing. Cool experience.
I think Serious Sam reigns supreme when it came to the bargain bin ! Another bargain bin shoutout goes to BRUTAL LEGEND! Got that sucker for like $14.99 at Walmart and as a lover of metal it was SUCH a good buy 😁😁😁🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🤘🤘
I like your ambition friend, you could write my next video script and lots of ppl would probably enjoy it lol. Still, thanks for checking out the video bruv you an MVP🙏✅👍🔥💯
Sadly not , I believe SS4 and SM are running on the serious 4 engine and the 3 games in the collection here are on serious 3 IIRC. I just picked up SS4 though and love it despite its flaws/performance issues - probably will do a video on it !
@@maltsutty yeah same! SS4 has brilliant gameplay, probably my favorite in the franchise with the new upgrades of shotgun grenades, cluster grenade on GL and the homing rockets. Also once you finish SS4, DO NOT miss out on Siberian Mayhem, it's an amazing expansion
What makes these games so fun are the guns and the why they handle with over the top blood and how fast and smooth the game feels. Making these type of games today they tend to make them look crap or with sprites thinking retro looks good. shame the new serious sam 4 game didn't have proper visuals it just looks to old and so buggy. I had to get rid of my serious sam hd and BFE because they play laggy feel on my new pc and when i had my old pc they play amazing feels so smooth and mouse movement just flowed with the game it didn't feel sluggish unlike most games i tend to play today. Even this game runs faster and plays better in the guns being overpowered than the new doom games why i don't like the new doom games it should be like this in the guns even the pistol is better than the new doom and shotguns lol. I would like this to be remastered with proper visuals for today
Although I love doom 2016 and eternal I do agree with you , I think they overdesign a LOT in that game when really all we need is a great setting , classic guns and some modern features - basically how SS did it but with doom themed weapons enemies and levels . Kinda would love to see a doom style serious Sam ! Thanks for commenting and adding to the discussion 🙏🙏✅🤘
@@maltsutty I agree 100% and as for overly designed is an understatement more like ridiculously overly designed it just made the game for me less enjoyable to play because of the new direction it took. For me that isn't what doom was in the first place it lost that magic level design the classic had and the n64 doom had. I just wanted that style gameplay but with modern visuals no parkour or double jumping and dashing pole swing wall climbing and all the other crap that went with it. Why i wish serious sam had a proper upgrade i miss this type of gameplay we just don't get them like this anymore it's all over complicated now with less simplest controlled.
They actually aren’t “inspired” by doom. ID Software actually got Croteam to make enemies for Doom 3,while doing this, they tweaked some of the designs,to be Serious Sam enemies, which is why we see Mancubus=Scrapjack and Baron of Hell=Khnum
My PC is currently being fixed so that future videos can include PC footage !! Believe me console isn’t my first choice for shooters lol although SS does feel great on the ps5 I have to give credit when due 💯💯 thanks for watching 🙏🙏
Stumbled across the channel while going though my long maybe pickups list in an effort to shorten it up by moving some to the no pile. Impressed with the video and will stick around.
Thanks for checkin out the video friend! I know my last vid was months ago (shamefully) but I currently have a video in the works for an indie shooting game then a couple “boomer shooters” that have really impressed me 💪🔥💯✅🤘🤘🤘
