Jiyan was the reason why i wanted to play this game so i went with him. And first time i swiped. Got him, but still missing his weapon. More 20 wishes and I'll have. I think I'll be able with world exploration etc.
That's very understandable. I remember from his original reveal I decided I was getting him as well. I'm unsure if I can get his weapon sadly, as I also want Yinlin, and he cost me 149 pulls already.

you don't really NEED his weapon for him to be good, keep in mind that there are other weapon options with not much difference in damage, especially since you don't need to have the best to complete all the content, you will get through everything with a good character/team and mediocre echo's and weapon
Well it's really debatable about "futureproofing" with Yinlin's outro skill and her being subdps gives her a niche that's less likely to be powercrept. While Jiyan is an AOE DPS which would maybe stay relevant for a bit in the AOE niche but since most difficult content is ST right now it's not even a niche that's desirable right now. And if we assume that AOE capability is calculated in his DPS output it would be reasonable to expect Single Target DPS units to deal more damage to bosses and because of that him being "powercrept" in next 3 on-field DPS releases
That's understandable, though to me, Jiyan's capabilities to easily parry in ult and skill will always make him a relevant choice to me based off that alone, since harder content seems to be heavily weighted towards staggering the shield bar and parrying as much as possible.

@@excusemewhat7809I keep seeing the same argument when people talk about Jiyan, and I just never understand where all that is coming from? Like Genshin saw Venti be like THE unit for its first year, he was very broken in abyss until they started introducing enemies that cant be pulled by him. The other 1.0 limited was Klee who was never “good” to begin with. I guess HSR is the reason people think that? Weird again since Seele is still strong and still 0 cycles content to this day, yes other units can now do it with more ease, but that doesn’t mean Seele is bad. Lastly, Kuro handled powercreep quite nicely in PGR, where a unit takes like 1 and a half years or 2 years to see a newer unit just be an upgrade over them. It is really preference at this point, pull Jiyan if you like him he’s super solid, pull Yinlin if you like her and have Calcharo, they are a really strong combo.

But what people fail to realize is Jiyan's access to pseudo aoe and grouping, and a busted parry tool, are tools that do not depend on numbers, and are thus always relevant. Yinlin is less likely to be powercrept than a standard dps, but because the reasons she is good is because of her buffs and off-field DPS, which are both based off numbers, then she can actually be powercreeped simply by bumping numbers up. Late game PGR has always been about dodges and parries, which are things that Jiyan excels at, and something that Yinlin specifically cannot do well. She is still going to be relevant for a very long time purely just because of numbers, just like Jiyan's high numbers, but she just has a rather limited niche in how she can be used, whereas Jiyan can be used anywhere for everything. Jiyan is not actually a proper AoE DPS. He is a DPS that can do moderate AoE, but is fundamentally a ST hypercarry. He has the current highest DPS in the game atm, outside of a hitless 1HP Danjin, and after Yinlin comes out for Yinlin/Calcharo. Post Yinlin banner, Tier 0 is basically going to consist of Jiyan + Mortefi, Calcharo + Yinlin, Danjin + anything, Havoc Rover + anything. They all have roughly equal DPS as a duo core, and only tweaks up and down based off elemental matchups, density of enemies, and AI pattern behavior. Of the Tier 0 teams, only Havoc Rover + flex and Jiyan comps have access to the best parry tools. Note that lategame, Calcharo cannot run his optimal DPS rotation due to enemy aggression and loses damage due to veering from his strict rotation windows. All other DPSes are a lot more generous of tolerance, of which Jiyan has the widest.
I'm a waifu enjoyer so Yinlin is a must for my account LMAO! For my 3 teams, I plan on having: Calcharo / Yinlin / Verina (strongest team) Havok Rover / Sanhua / Baizhi or Yangang with heal build (second boss team, mostly cope team bc I didn't get Danjin) Jianxin / Mortefi / Taoqi (cozy AoE team) I plan on also pulling for Changli who should be making her debut in 1.1, hopefully, she's a DPS otherwise I'll struggle with that cope team more than I would like LMAO!
It depends on what your optimal team you wanted I got cal on ny 3rd 10 pull so I've never had any reason to get Jiyan I'll be waiting for Yinlin and I'll stick with Baizhi as support
This is a very interesting take. Glad that you're making your own observations, when everybody in the community is regurgitating the same "dps get powercreeped easier" talking point. Both dps & supports can be powercreeped by somebody doing the same thing but with bigger numbers. Tbh i don't care much about powercreep in a game like wuwa, its more about style than dmg to me, I have much more fun just playing a character that i enjoy. Which makes me a little sad because I love Yinlin design but Jiyan's kit offers much more in term of answers to game mechanics while yinlin is mostly just a support that raises someone else dmg. (switch tech with calcharo is cool but i don't like calcharo gameplay, meanwhile Yinlin basic combo looks cool but they're the worst basic combo in the game so its better to install her marks and switch to someone else instead, there's no reason to combo with her unless you spend $3000 to s6 her)
yinlin not 'support that raises someone else dmg', she's good dps unit who can be main dps or hybrid dps. So she has good damage and can be used in many teams.
@@al_m8 true, she's a hybrid dps, i should've worded that better. I emphasized on "support" because i consider her off-field dmg (thunder mark install) as a support skill. Optimally she'll be off-field most of the time while someone else take advantage of her outro buff & thunder. Using her as a main dps is not bad, its just not optimal.
I'm not entirely F2P, I will at least buy battle passes and the monthly aster per day. My first guaranteed 5 star was Colcharo, and I picked up Verina with the ticket. I currently have Encore targeted for my beginner banner pity lock - and the game forced a max resonance chain Danjin on me, so she's my main by default (I do enjoy her character and playstyle a lot as well). I suppose from that, I should probably be waiting for Yinlin, so I can use her and Colcharo as a dedicated team. It would also give me a lot more time to save up rolls - I am 60/80 on Jiyan's banner but did it to max Danjin, so I can save that pity progress over towards Yinlin, is that correct? If I win the 50/50 I could probably try to pity her signature, which from the description has plenty of overlap with Verina as a BIS weapon, and I heard you can swap over gear and echoes in Tower content. Don't get me wrong, I love Jiyan as a character and his playstyle, but my account seems a lot more gravitating towards benefit from Yinlin, and I don't have infinite funds to brute force everything I want like that right now. I don't mind since I at least have Colcharo OR Jiyan, I would have needed at least one of them to really enjoy playing. Will you do videos diving into optimal weapons, including 4 stars? That seems like an important place to learn more about, especially with the battle pass options having some crit.
Actually, you dont even need yinlin for calchero. Upon CN testing, sanhua only loses to yinlin in terms of cal’s damage by like 11% which is negligible considering we get sanhua for free
How much that matters depends on how much people want to meta chase. Then again, it's a single player game with no leaderboards. There will be those that pull because waifu, and there will also be those that pull because 11% is enough to ppflex their clear times, and then those that just don't care and pull because 1% is enough to justify since they only speak wallet. Yinlin does also have significantly more personal damage, but that also comes down to how much people are willing to run Yinlin's shorter rotation before swapping off.
To guarantee both characters you need 320 pulls, and there isn't even close to that many pulls on 1.0. There are about 200 limited pulls including the extra 20 pulls they gave out in the first week.
Remember that there is also Afterglow Coral as well. Which currently can only be used to get dupes and not the first copy of a unit. Thus, using it for pulls is a viable use. There is also (Tower of Adversity) Abyss reset, which is actually possible to reach the final layer already as of around today, since this is around when day 1 grinders have been working on their 2nd DPS to start farming for pulls. This is without using Crystal Solvent. I myself am working on my 2nd DPS team at the moment. There are 11 days left in the current Abyss rotation, and it is very realistic that day 1 grinders will be able to acquire about half the Astrite on the final layer before it resets. I will admit I did include Welkin into the math, and also assume people would not have to hard pity 80 and lose each time, as it is confirmed soft pity exists in this game. I ran it off of 75 pulls per pity, including Welkin, and including Afterglow Coral usage. That's roughly +50-55 more pulls than the number you are quoting. + a couple more pulls from Abyss reset (+2 to 3). Realistically, you are extremely unlucky if you are unable to acquire both Yinlin and Jiyan after ~280 pulls.
I am happy i can still get yinlin. Too unlucky as i accidently gpt him at 41 pity abd while pulling for mortei got him again at 54 pity. He anf I have a hate love relationship😫

Oh congrats! My luck was amazing on standard, beginner and novice, but abysmal on the limiteds lol. I'm looking to hopefully get enough to pick up Yinlin by end of patch, should be tight, but doable.
there is no really sub dpses in game and esp yinlin not the one. Character who do damage similiar to ur main dps can't be categorized as 'sub', also she very good as main dps, if you compare calcharo with her, she will do slightly more damage(look for iamrivenous calcs). Also calcharo not perfect partner for her, she dont really need him in her teams, but he needs her for sure. So you kinda misinformed people a little. Also you dont bring any calculations, but made claims like 'future proof', 'her onfield dps lacks noticeably behind main dps units' 'not recomend her as mains dps', this claims - bad for those who take your word for it

CN has calc'd Yinlin vs Sanhua as buffing Calcharo's personal damage by 11% higher. Yinlin also has personal damage that is significant even when off-field, but takes a moment to actually setup her rotation. If you are ok with the rotation becoming a bit more complicated, then I would say it's a solid pick. It's hard to gauge the team DPS increase with her off field, since it varies significantly and is harder to track than personal DPS, but she definitely has more off-field than Sanhua, because Sanhua has 0 off-field DPS. Yinlin *is* skippable, but if you intend to play Calcharo for the long-term, I would not recommend skipping, because she makes the 44111 echo setup significantly better by offsetting the lack of electro%, compared to the standard 43311 echo setup.
