ending was a little basic. lemme give y'all more specific advice. use music for... - solving repetitive problems - working on art projects - programming - organizing notes or data - brainstorming don’t use music for... - reading dense text - writing essays - learning complex topics - watching lectures sorry about that! will flesh out my ideas a bit more in future videos
Whenever im reading something and im listening to music, i try to sing the music, especially if im obsessed with the song but i get distracted and i forget where im at (Thank you for the tips they really help!)
This is almost exactly how I use music. The only ydiffere ce is that I do use music to lock in on my essays that I've waited til the night it's due to start.
I recommend music with no lyrics, especially if you’re doing a reading/writing assignment. My personal favorite is the soundtrack from the video game Night in the Woods.
If anyone want another selection I suggest Pigstep from Minecraft or just in case (because the show takes place inside a video game) listen to the amazing digital circus theme WITHOUT LYRICS
@@karentang562I myself love minecraft background music instead of disc music, they're the ones I play when I'm doing something that needs my brain to focus on
@@mathmagician155 Not all of us have the luxury of time and breathing room to do that. Speaking from personal experience, a combination of (diagnosed) chronic depression, GAD, and insomnia leave me perpetually and unbearably exhausted. I will probably never have the energy to accomplish even the most basic tasks without significant effort, but life won't wait for the unlikely event I get better.
That's the problem! There's no silence when I'm studying bcoz of my family conversations + neighbors music 💀 So I listen to music to focus on what I'm reading 😪
As someone who does a lot of computer work here’s my decision: Most importantly: lyrics kill assignments don’t listen to music with lyrics especially when reading or writing Lectures: *NO MUSIC* Project: kinda fast music to give yku a sense of urgency and swiftness Regular assignments: chill music Quizzes: playlist of whatever honestly Important tests: queue only your favorite songs because getting frustrated at a song yku don’t like will knock you off of your game Happy studying! Thanks for reading have a cookie 🍪
I can only listen to music when I’m doing math homework as I don’t have to lock in on reading/comprehension like I do with other subjects. I guess it just involves different parts of my brain.
I really recommend using the clock ticking sound. Its relaxing and stimulates panic when u r slacking off or day dreaming. Its a reminder that time is ticking and also feels like asmr ❤❤❤
I recommend music you can sing along to without having to think about it. It’s something that helps me (I listen to Disney, my favorite artist or simply broadway musicals)
Honestly, for me, I would say that it helps me focus more because I cannot have it be quiet around me. Also it helps me get work done faster because then I can jam out to my favorite songs later on. My advice would to be to go to RU-vid and find a long playlist with some really good music that you enjoy. Then you may not be as prone to changing the playlist constantly.
Listening to music really helps me with my ADD, proof as I am a straight-A student, honestly, if you have ADD, don't do classical or white noise, anything like that, put on a nostalgia playlist, you won't even care whats around you, you will focus solely on your work and no amazing on it, your welcome.
Honestly, I would say classical music is amazing for studying. When I was in college working on homework or studying? I would always throw on classical music and I found that it really helped me zone in and focus on studying . I had trouble focusing some when I was studying, but when I turned on the classical music I found that I was able to study a lot better.
The tip I generally found to be the most effective. If you have to learn material, it's almost always better to not listen to any kind of music. When you need to practise exercises, then music can be a really good way to keep yourself motivated to keep working. I think it's better to take good and long breaks on top of it followed by long study sessions
If you are listening to music that is new to you, especially with words in your own language. You focus too much on that. So could struggle with other tasks requiring the phonological loop (ability to understand and recreate language and sound). So if you are working with an essay subject you might struggle quite a bit if you are listening to lyrics. Which is probably going to involve most of the work you are doing anyway. But I find from personal experience (I still listen to music with lyrics in study) is if you listen to songs you already know well and are personally encouraging to you, or songs that don’t have lyrics such as classical music or music in other languages. Clozee is an artist that is great when it comes to good music without lyrics, and it’s great for study. Then you can be able to concentrate, but everyone is different in this sense.
If I’m doing something that uses my brain, then I don’t listen to any songs or music. The silence and white noise helps me connect the dots in my brain a lot faster and easier, memorising stuff made it easier as well. I especially love the sound of my air conditioner, It’s silent but the slight sound of air coming through from the fans is just bliss. It’s my favourite type of white noise. I love this way of studying, it feels like I’m studying and meditating at the same time, so it’s like 2 birds 1 stone kinda thing.
Maintaining full focus while studying can be challenging but is achievable with some strategies:🌞🤙 1. *Create a Study Schedule* Plan specific times for studying and stick to the schedule. 2. *Choose the Right Environment* Find a quiet, comfortable place free from distractions. 3. *Set Clear Goals* Define what you want to accomplish in each study session. 4. *Use Active Learning Techniques* Engage with the material through summarizing, questioning, and teaching others. 5. *Take Regular Breaks* Use techniques like the Pomodoro Technique to take short, scheduled breaks. 6. *Eliminate Distractions* Turn off notifications, limit social media use, and inform others of your study times. 7. *Stay Organized* Keep your study materials and space organized to avoid wasting time. 8. *Stay Hydrated and Eat Well* Proper nutrition and hydration can improve concentration. 9. *Get Enough Sleep* Adequate rest is essential for effective studying. 10. *Practice Mindfulness or Meditation* These practices can help improve focus and reduce stress.
My tip is listening to classical music. It was a game changer for me during my finals. I'm not the best at math/calculus, but the math was mathing y'all.
I listen to music while studying, it made studying less annoying but i need to find the perfect music that i like but it honestly made studying more fun!
I put it on the right side of my brain since that's the 'creative side' of the brain. Which let's me focus on knowledge and helps me not to get distracted.
If you're learning, avoid music. If you're implementing, music can help. Learning can be anything from studying the text on your textbook to trying to use a new document Editation web to preparing the content of a presentation. Implementing can be either preparing the visuals for a presentation you already have, or checking emails with quick tasks on them, or even cleaning up your apartment/dorm room.
It's basically that when you wanna learn something, especially when you are on the verge of your exams. Music or any form of entertainment during study should be strictly prohibited but if you're doing works like copying down notes or things that don't require any focus, then music is the best way to keep you engaged and complete your work on time
For me, it depends on what I'm studying. If I'm studying for Math or Physics, then I like to throw on some lofi and do some exercises. If I have to learn subjects like geography or history, then it really helps me to play sounds/music that fit that theme.
Here is a tip: While doing any homework except reading and understanding concepts, listening to any Music even with lyrics can work. But for reading and learning, listen to Soundtracks, that would be less distractive as our brain tends to listen to vocals even being focused.
A classmate and I did a study on this this year for out methodology class. Because of time constraints, we tested out 2 genres: Lo-Fi and Rock. Lo-fi was the victor because people felt more concentrated when working with it. We also found that in the class we tested in, the music affected positively the men more than women. Lastly is showed that alot of people where affected negatively by the use of music in these circumstances. However, multiple people that benefited from the music where motivate to try and utlize it at home for homework or for their studies.
I match the music to the subject. Classes that need words, motions, or talking is no music. Classes that need memory, repetition, or extra motivation is upbeat music, and when im trying to relax its usually chill music or youtube vvideos that break down different pieces of media.
My personal advice as someone who can’t focus well with music: If it’s something tedious or repetitive, listen to music If it’s a shortish assignment or an important assignment, don’t listen to music If your environment is loud and annoying, use noise cancelling and lofi/white noise if you need it
As someone who always listens to music while studying, especially songs WITH lyrics, I can confirm that you should just figure it out for yourself. Everyone always told me that lyrics are distracting (a lot of the comments here do too) but it never bothered me,neither did it distract me. For me, music I can vibe/or mindlessly sing to motivate me greatly, which improves my mood and therefore my willingness to study.
Music with vocals to me are more distracting, especially with reading. Some prefer different genres for different subjects, but I prefer my standard quiet coffee shop jazz as it helps me feel productive and collected
Personally I use it for everything other than reading stuff I do get a little distracted but it helps me actually want to do work rather than procrastinating
I personally love studying with music, especially with my ADHD it helps me focus since there’s at least some noise around me. Most of the time I put on the same artist and make a small playlist of 3-7 songs, otherwise I listen to the same song on repeat. The noise eventually turns into background sounds as I am focussed on my work, I don’t acknowledge the music even being there :3
I can find it easier to work with music on, so do some of my friends. Our old teacher (I’m in the fourth grade last day of school) Let us listen to music since it helps us focus
As a person with ADHD, i usually use high energy upbeat music for tasks i don't have to motivation to do, and use calmer music for more relaxing tasks like reading
i know a kid who did a science fair project on if music affects your memory, it apparently does and makes it worse, so if your studying for a test, DONT USE MUSIC!!
I use it to go with the rhythm , Basically I follow the beat as I study , It helps me keep active as well as complete tasks much faster due to the constant rate of work done.
As long as it the music doesnt have any vocal, it helps me focus so well. Because the thing is i have high imagination skill so when i listen to music with lyrics i imagine the lyrics and end up distracted
Hey, tip from someone with a little ADHD when doing something boring or automatic use your headphones so time goes on faster and you feel the energy from your songs, now if you're reading something you hate (like if you hate history) I don't recommend using them, just speak while reading and mark where you read with the tip of your pen.
I feel like this is a very subjective thing. I practically need music in order to be able to fully focus on anything because otherwise there is "to much empty space" in my head which makes wandering thoughts easily appear. I also saw some comments about staying away from music with lyrics, but I am able to focus and retain information just as well when the music has lyrics.
Music definitely doesn't help all the time and doesn't work for everyone either. I think the best thing to do is to test listening to music in different situations just to see if it either helps or makes it harder to focus. I did this and Ive found that listening to music helps with reading or when there's lots of noise or even too little noise
I personally can’t study with music. because I’m a musician the music would be taking up my entire brain with me analyzing it and just vibing lol. But brown noise is a life changer, my focus goes up a lottt
He's right. I have friends that are comfortable with listening to music while studying (Even reading!) while I DON'T study with music on, since it distractes ME. Not them.
