The OLED Steam Deck is a beautiful, amazing, magical piece of tech. It does stuff that no other device does, and the Limited Edition version feels like it was made just for me. BUT, is it worth upgrading to an OLED deck if you already have a Steam Deck? And if you don't have a Steam Deck, should you now run out and buy an OLED version? Let's find out!

90 hz, 50 percent more battery, bigger display (.4 inches), smaller chipset which means more efficient cpu, all the changes in terms of the display, etc. I’d recommend watching Linus’ video on it.

Small bit cause no one mentions it. The 512gb steamdeck OLED actually doesn't comes with a case you can separate. It's the same case as the LCD deck. but with a orange logo instead of white or blue.

Thanks for the video. I got my son the OLED 512gig one for xmas. The screen protector I have makes it look like its etched (I have the OG steam deck with no screen protector). OI hope those stickers come off the OG steam deck with no residue! great video. I agree it is so much better. Playing stray on both it seems to be better on the OLED one and battery it can go for 8 hours or so using that.

Replaced my lcd (non-glare) with the „normal“ oled version of the new one (oled with a matte surface is…an sacrilege)…I couldn’t be happier with my decision 😁👍

Yeah that's a good way to put it. The glossy is slightly sharper when you're really looking closely at the screen, but the etched glass is better for real world use. You'll love it!

I love the new deck all the improvements even the minor ones are great I got the limited edition and the Smokey grey shell is amazing but there are many companies that make shells that can look similar if you really want the same look!

I actually just learned about the steamdeck oled release about 3 days ago, I was saving up and waiting for a newer steamdeck release and as soon as I seen it. Ordered it right away. Still waiting for it to arrive but beyond stoked to have the best handheld made since the original PSP

Yeah, one thing that Valve never told anyone was that there was a 30g difference between the OLED and the LCD Deck but the Limited Edition OLED is another 25g lighter still due to the plastic they chose for the translucent shell. Mine is 619g and I noticed the difference right away when I picked it up...felt much lighter.

I know that I should be paying attention to your new video, you know, with all of the great comedy bits/quips and the review of the new Steamdeck, but how did I never notice your desktop? What magic have you been using to hide this (yup, I know I am blind)? Is that freaking barn wood? It looks awesome! Ok, I am off of my desktop soapbox....ahhh, now I feel shorter :( Devil's avocado had my wife chuckling for quite a while, by the way. I might still buy the OLED deck down the line, but I just bought the Odin 2 and have been embroiled in the setup and usage of said device.

I didn’t like panel made by Chinese BOE in LE edition. So I returned it and got regular 1tb OLED. It looks much much better. Regular OLED is made by Samsung, which has superior quality than BOE.

I’m in the market for a handheld PC and have watched so many videos on the Steam Deck, Asus ROG Ally, and the Legion GO, and I’m confused as to why nobody talks about the huge amount of games that doesn’t run on the Steam Deck. I would think that is a major negative on the Steam Deck. I get how easy it is to operate but why would I want to limit myself to the games I can play?

Something else kind of interesting for those of us who have the Limited Edition Steam Deck is that the Deck is actually lighter than the other OLED Decks...not by a whole lot, but it is another positive of the device!

Just found out about this the other day. It's a whopping 20 grams lighter, making it 60 grams lighter than the LCD rather than 40 grams with the other OLED models which is crazy. Good stuff all around with the OLED's

Question - is there any website that sells retro drives that also ships internationally, retro pen drives, hard drives, like the ones you made a video on, Ali express is banned in my country and Amazon here doesn't sell those, I want them so bad, I tried making my own using batocera on a 64gb pendrive but it's a real pain adding every emulator and game one by one, I also thought of buying a separate hard drive for that but I am too scared, what if I damage it 😪 and they are a bit expensive which is why I want a pre loaded drive with every game possible.

I don’t have a gaming pc, and the steam deck is so cheap in comparison. My steam deck is basically my gaming pc I connect to a screen and keyboard and it’s mobile. I love it so much

I'm sure there are more games on Steam that can run at 90 on the Deck. There are so many 2D games, visual novels, platformers, racers, fighting games, hack n slashes. Paladins and Warframe can easily hit over 60 at their maximum settings. I'm certain OW2 can get to 90. Metal Gear Rising is an easy 90fps. Persona. Octopath. Sanic. Etc Just don't expect huge, graphically intense modern AAA games to run higher than 30/40 lol. Those are few compared to errything else that's on steam

Yup. Power and heat improvements, but not performance. The faster memory gives us about a 5% improvement in performance, depending on the game. Not much though.

Why dont you try benching the Ally and the Legion go at the same resolution and setting as the stream deck and at different power levels, And show us how poor it really is. sub 60fps is clearly noticable on the steam deck compaired to the competition, and a cost per frame would also give people a better idea where there there money gets them, So why doesn't anybody who reviews the deck give us a cost per frame against the competition? The Go and the Ally might be more expensive but when you compare them on a cost-per-frame basis where does the deck stand?

Depends on the wattage. Under 15w the Deck would beat out the Ally & Go. Over 15w the Ally & Go would beat out the deck. So it depends what's more important to you, raw performance, or heat and battery life. I prefer prioritizing battery life because it's a handheld and I hate having to be tethered to a wall after an hour or so of gaming, but that's just my preference. All are great choices it just depends what's most important to you as a gamer.

@@TechDweeb Yer but the perfomance sucks, I can't stand laggy games and a lot of my 3500 Steam Library either run like dodo, have to fiddle about to get working or just wont run at all on the deck and I hevent event tried that many because its a pain, I'm not a fan of any of them the legion Go has that lenovo bloatware problems and the GUI need work, But really does have potential and like it more than the Ally that had a few issues, I think there just a little to expensive although quality wise there pretty good, To become mainstream.
