Scott, love ALL your videos and this one is no exception. In my early Navy days I saw a State Trooper do a presentation, he made a statement that I still remember more than 40+ years later…He simply said “I’ve never unbuckled a dead man”. I’m sure you’ve been asked this a hundred times or more, but where did you come up with “My nickel on the grass”? At 71 I’ve been around the block a few times, and had never heard it until I saw your first video. Don’t get me wrong, I like it, just never heard it…Be Well and keep up the great work!
Just had the BAS dual shoulder harnesses installed in my Cherokee. They are inertia reel and very comfortable. Easy to move around without adjusting the harness all the time. Very high quality product. My A&P said they were reasonably easy to install.
Thank you for this info! My 1960 M35 only has lap belts up front for the reasons that you have alluded to and so I have been searching for an inexpensive option. I really enjoy watching and learning from the content that you produce.
As a child of the 50’s, I used to sleep on the rear window shelf when we travelled. As I drove in the 60’s, my cars were without seatbelts, we had big steering wheels and everything upfront was metal. Today I don’t drive or fly without always being fully strapped-in (seat & shoulder ... shoulder from behind/overhead permanently attached to seatbelt). These days I watch YT videos where flyer aircraft are equipped with shoulder straps/harnesses nicely tucked in place - don’t understand. Anyway, like you my comment is not a PSA. Still, my preflight includes seatbelts/straps are to remain attached at all times.
Interesting. Some parallels for me. I was one of those kids who got the arm in the face to keep me from hitting the windshield. Also was in another stupendous wreck with my mom when she fell asleep at the wheel. She was injured. I wa
I would guess that everyone, milliseconds before impact, would wish they had dual strap, inertia reel shoulder harnesses. Probably a good idea to do it prior to the fact...
For me the Hooker Quickie is a good solution for an airplane that doesn't have the mounts. I fly some older airplanes with no shoulder harnesses... so this is a solution. really like shoulder harnesses. The better solution is putting in a more permanent shoulder harness- a BAS or other diagonal belt. No matter what airplane type.
