As a retired firefighter, I’m thankful for this video. I had several injuries over the last few years, that have stopped me from totally enjoying my retirement. Surgery, a reverse replacement is scheduled for tomorrow. I think I am looking foreword to it. Thanks again brother and stay safe.
Thank you so very much. I have been putting off shoulder surgery for years now. I have had19 Orthopedic surgeries so they don't scare me but the idea of the shoulder did. The pain is finally to the point where I have little choice. Hearing your story has encouraged me to finally make the decision. Especially the part about re-injuries. My Brother tore open a brand new replacement knee and is now permanently crippled. He blames the surgery but I know that he pushed it too far! P.S. I am 72 and 1/2!
I'm on number 4 on my right shoulder. This time total replacement. I have a friend who has had this surgery. He says it's been great! He's on his 6 year since and loves it. I love that RU-vid allows me to actually see the procedure done. So cool what surgeons can do. I have faith in my Doctors ability to do a great job. Hopefully, I will be able to reach up for something on the top shelf again. PS. I will be having my left shoulder done in May for the 2nd time. Oh well.
Thanks, I'm fighting the same battle surgery #1 three weeks out today my dominant arm and I'm wanting to push it as everything seems to be going great except sleeping at night, boy is that still painful but believe it or not the pain is in the elbow and lower arm.
I have surgery oct 23. I have hills sack formation along with tworn rotator cuff along with like 2 other tips. I dislocate my shoulder doing about anything behind or above me. Cant throw anything. Cant swim. Dislocated my shoulder at least 2 dozen times over past 8 years. Sometimes just while I'm sleeping. Cant wait to have my life back.
I really admire you I had my rotator cuff surgery last week and it’s a pain deal with almost everything I’m very frustrated can’t sleep like I used to, it’s so sad 😞 when you don’t have someone to count on . I pray god to give me strength . Thank you for share this nice video god bless you .
Hope you are doing better. Tore mine up motocrossing last April (2020). It was a hell of a ride. Do what your PT says to do. Work it out. Do something to make it better every day . . It will get better. But it is NOT easy. I am about 93%. I'll get it back. You can too.
Hurt my shoulders lifting weights years ago. First time it was my rotator cuff and a few years later, I injured my labrum. Each time, while I couldn't bench press for some time, I was able to do bicep work, tricep exercises among other things. Let them heal on their own, as opposed to having surgery. Friends I know had surgery and still have problems. I'll be 66 next week and I will be attempting to bench 300 lbs. I weigh 185 lbs. Have never had any surgeries, no broken bones, never been on meds of any kind and have never had health insurance. I still work, spraying lawns and pulling 300 ft of hose thru my customers lawns every day. If I come down with something serious, I'll fight it naturally and holistically and if that's not good enough, I'll gladly go to meet my Maker.
Going in for a TSR next month and am freaking out about what my post-op functionality will be like cuz I'm a very active person. Nice to see you're able to do job related tasks like lifting overhead. Thanks for the advice re: don't get too gung ho with the rehab.
I'm 34 and Also a career firefighter. Had a labrum tear two years ago, and now I need a replacement. I was told that a total replacement would sideline me from ever returning to the truck again. And that a partial is my only option to stay a firefighter. Based on your experience, what is it like wearing scba, gear, carrying high rise pack and other tools on the daily?
I’m 49 and my surgeon says that I really need shoulder replacement but doesn’t want to do it until I’m older...around 60. I just had 4 anchors put in my arm for a severely torn labrum. Are you concerned about having to have it replaced again?
OMG 5 shoulder surgery. I've always thought that firefighter are the true hero when it comes saving people lives my uncle was a true hero user firefighter he also busted his shoulder on duty . .I'm just curious after total shoulder replacement witch I just had after full recovery what's the limitation and doing push ups is that to much stress
The orthopedist told me I would not be able to lift heavy objects overhead after having shoulder replacement surgery. But this firefighter is still working active duty. I can't think of a profession where lifting objects overhead is more critical. I have always lifted weights. I assume military presses, lat pulldowns, bench presses were not permissible after SRS. Who is right and who is wrong?
You can tell this story was paid for and posted by a hospital. The story kind of sugarcoats the complexity and long recovery of a replacement. If you have other issues such as a torn rotator cuff, your recovery will take a long time. (Up to and over a year) and you may need a reverse replacement if the damage is bad enough.
Thank you very much, I was so worried but now all Im not cause all I need to do is take my time. I don't want to screw this up cause I want to join the defence force. Thank you very much and God bless. (Yeah I know my names stupid too).
Mines been bad for years. Had it scoped 20 years ago and it’s never been right. I went to a Dr here that said the only thing that he can do at this point is replace. I’ve been working out my whole life. My fear is that I won’t be able to lift or carry more than 50lbs with this arm. I used to be able to bench 450lbs and do dips all day. That might be part of my problem lifting too heavy for years. I’m 53 and the Dr said if you can wait till your 60 that would be best because it’ll have to be replaced in 12-15 years. I can’t take it anymore. Haven’t slept well in years. I’m ready but worried about what to expect after????
I'm 32...did buildingbuilding for years. Lifted a 45kg dumbell and shot it up and backwards so my arm snapped backwards. I have surgery this Sunday... Nervous. I know I won't be a le to lfie for 6 months... But guess its for the greater good as I too find sleeping difficult for the past 13months
Just had mine 11 days ago. Feels much better but is still quite painful. Been doing home therapy and getting stitches out in 2 days. Everytime i do therapy my arm swells but it does feel good to get that stretch. I can sre this taking s long time to heal. Thankfully i only had to wear sling for one day. Glad i had it done. Injured it when i was 24 and turning 59 tomorrow.
@@retroafro1 i tricep is really painful as well as bicep. Im probably over using mine but i think it is just my nature from weightlifting most my life. Ive been reading some of the comments that others have left but most of these were done many yrs ago. Stay in touch and let me know how its going.
David Wilson You had it scoped. Not repaired. You tore it more and it’s probably fully detached from the bone which is why the only option for you is replacement.
