A proximal humerus pathological fracture resulting from a unicameral bone cyst is a rare but challenging orthopedic condition. This condition primarily affects children and adolescents, weakening the bone's structure, leading to fractures. To address this, open reduction and curettage are commonly employed surgical techniques.
Open reduction involves realigning the fractured bone pieces, while curettage entails removing the cystic tissue. To provide structural support and enhance bone healing, fibula bone grafting is often performed. The fibula bone, commonly used as a graft source, helps fill the cyst cavity and promotes bone regeneration. Successful treatment can restore function and prevent recurrence in these young patients.
