Hey everyone, today Jason is shaving his fork legs on his chopper project. The 1977-1983 Showa 35MM forks have a dual disk bracket and fender mounts that will visually clash with the spool front wheel and fender less set up on the bike. After simply taking the forks apart the lower legs have the majority of excess material chopped off with the band saw. The lower legs get placed into the lathe and the turning process can begin. Once the legs are "shaved" multiple grit sandpapers (150-2000) are used to smooth out the lower legs. Aluminum polish is applied with a foam and wool pad to achieve a smooth and shinny part. Lastly, reversing the order of disassembly the forks are rebuilt and new fork seals are installed.
