My family is a big Catholic family. I went to 12 years of Catholic School. Now no longer consider myself, Catholic, but I still sometimes go to the church, with my aunt or my grandma. I'll still go to church functions, that my friend's kids are going to. Etc.. etc . 1- they all know that I am no longer Catholic. Even the priests in the nuns know, I had conversations with them. Nobody gave me the stink eye, I wasn't told to leave. My family still loves me. I'm allowed to walk in church whenever I want. 2) you are correct in saying they'll have a fee to hold a wedding for example , in the church. Of course they don't charge individuals that are coming in. Lol. The fees are like a donation and they make the church extra pretty with a bunch of flowers and a few more altar boys etc.. I have family members that go to church every Sunday. Yes, you can make a donation. If you don't have any money to make a donation they're not going to kick you out or have a talk with you, or ask you why. Plus if you want to make a donation of .50 cents, you can. It used to be 10% of your salary, and that was a strong suggestion way back in the day. Now they do not enforce it. 3) the Church of my family belongs to, they will have things that you can volunteer for like feed the homeless, if a member of the church is down on their luck,, for whatever reasons, they will raise money or collect food and clothing whatever the family needs. Of course we all know, the Catholic Church, is not perfect by far. Yet Scientology, make the Catholic Church look like an angel. 😉✌️ Side note - my friend, worked as receptionist for the priest/church. She didn't have to sign any contract that she had to stay there for 2 and a half for 5 years. She worked part time. If she wasn't feeling well she could call out sick, for example. Plus she was getting paid $12 an hour. Which isn't much but it's above the PA lousy pay rate. If she made a mistake, she wasn't interrogated. Etc. etc. my last thought, she only worked 20 hours a week. She still made a lot more than Scientologists on staff. Again not saying the Catholic religion is perfect. I'm just using it as an example, comparing religion, against Scientology.
