OK but a connection that is a little scary to think about is Nifty's throwaway line of "Sometimes I kill mother bugs in front of their children as a warning to others" and the overarching theme of Carmilla protecting her kids in this episode set off alarm bells in my brain - hopefully it's nothing though!!

Sad you missed it but when the Overlords were in the meeting and the angel head was on the table Alastor poked it and licked his finger . It was hilarious 😂

Respectless is not only a banger, but a great insight into how Velvet operates. She's so smart here, being outright uppity towards Carmilla at first, to throw her off her game. She targets Zestial specifically because she picks up that it pisses Carmilla off. You can cut Vel’s lines in pieces that display her playing the room. And when she sees Carmilla on edge, she goes for the throat. The switch between “You all don't compare to me” to “You fell for it, moron” is seamless. And it WORKS, Carmilla can’t deflect or rationalize, her last move is to book it while she can. Here’s the thing, Carmilla lost here. Vel put her in a lose-lose position. There was no point for Vel to go on, Carmilla cutting off the meeting was worse than a confession. All in all, this song does amazing character work for Vel. She’s an influencer, yes, but so far she is the most cunning and controlled V. She’s not just a fasionista, she’s a social genius. I swear I wanna learn video editing just to juxtapose this song with Vox’s miserable loss to Alastor with "Stayed Gone."

I believe Zestial is canonically the oldest overload alive, being from the 15 or 16th century.

Vaggie’s part in the song really shows that she loves Charlie so much and just wants to do what’s best to protect her, she truly is the Amity/Cassandra to Charlie’s Luz/Rapunzel. Also, guess we found out who beheaded that Angel. Carmilla is just a demonic mother trying to protect her kids. She’s earned our respect.

Fun fact, the Egg Boiz are voiced by Blake Roman. Yes, *that* Blake Roman.

I wonder if the only reason the Vees have stayed in power for so long is because they are capable of at least slightly balancing each other out, like when Vox stopped Valentino from going after Angel. Even if they’re not levelheaded themselves, they can kinda keep each other in line.

Also a a bit of lore leading up to the premiere they confirmed that Zestial is the oldest Overlord in Hell. They also confirmed that Velvette is the youngest so there's definitely a generational gap/conflict between the V's and at least some of the overlords.

My theory about Zestial is that he died around the dark ages, being a witch doctor (by the look of his hat)

I really took a liking to Zestial as a character when he first appeared on screen; there was just something charismatic about his voice, vocabulary and design. Then I learned he's voiced by Jason Monroe Iglehart who also voices Asmodeus in Helluva Boss and so I was like "dang that's why I like him a lot so far!"

A small fun fact is that Zelestial is the oldest overlord considering how he speaks like Shakespearean times and Velvette actually being the youngest because she acts like a GenZ with social media and such

Carmilla instantly became one of my favourite characters in this episode, her and Zestial seem to have a good friendship.......which is troublesome, Zestial seems to be one of the oldest Overlords (maybe even sinners overall) that hasn't been exterminated so far, i have a feeling he might end up sacrificing himself to save Carmilla and her daughters

Carmilla was looking at Zestial during that song. She cares about him.....to the older demons surprise.

19:36 I will say it is slightly different with how the Vs were treating their employees, because in all those instances, they were killed by demon hands. They will eventually reform, albeit a painful experience, but they are otherwise fine. When Carmila was talking about keeping her daughters safe, it was from an Exorcist, which there would absolutely be no coming back from. Not to say that the Vs care about their employees at all, but a lot of their nonchalance is because they know those people will reform since they weren't killed by angelic weaponry.

I hope that we will see Eva someday, but I don't know if she is like Adam Anjel or if she turned out worse. Ep 3 of the Vaggie and Carmila theory is now full for me...

Velvet calling out Camilla for the gun thing is probably my favorite line in her song, just because it is established in helluva boss that she makes weapons for killing demon royalty (the rifle use by Stryker) but its also fair because perparuating war works when the war is able to be won. Sure she killed the angel but what happens when its not just the exorcists but all of heaven invade?

I now it’s a two people song but Vaggie’s part of the song was amazing and it shows how much she loves and wants to protect Charlie as much as possible Yeah I just can’t stop thinking of Vaggie as The Amity of Hazbin Hotel .

I love that Respectless has separate music for when Carmilla sings and when Velvette sings, cause the first bit is all Carmilla, and the next bit is all Velvette. But then Carmilla's next part is only partially hers, you can still hear Velvette's music. Then Velvette's part is all hers again, Carmilla ending the meeting _is_ all hers again, but the final beat is from Vel's music. Carmilla did well ending the confrontation but not without giving Velvette important information as well as opening the door for Alastor to learn the truth. Vel won and Carmilla's likely gonna run into a *lot* of issues.

I'm convinced the music as Alistor and Zestial were walking down the street was a deliberate reference to the "Procession of Knights" from Prokofiev's ballet of _Romeo & Juliet_

I theorize that the only reason Carmilla Carmine was able to kill an angle was simply because it was an act of virtue. Allow me to explain, basically Carmilla saw her daughters about to be attacked by an exterminator and in an act of pure motherly love she jumped in front of it to protect them, not caring in that moment if she didn’t survive so long as they did, which (unbeknownst to her) gave her the power needed to kill an angel. In short she won because she was being driven by pure love against an enemy that was driven by pure hate.

I love Vaggie and Carmilla’s song

At some point, I got the feeling that the confrontation between Carmila and Velvet reflects not only the conflict of generations (old versus new) but also the conflict between parents and children. In particular, in their song, Carmila chastises Velvet as a strict mother to a rebellious daughter. In any case, something like that slips between them. There is a feeling that Carmila will now say: “Go to your room, young lady!”)) And in the moments when they are shown together in the frame, their (family?) resemblance becomes visible. In any case, Velvet has the same eyes as Carmila and her daughters - red, with a white iris, which can be considered weak evidence of their family connection.

One of the commenter from a different video had this idea. Carmilla was only able to kill an angel is because it was selfless (i.e protecting someone and not for herself). They also speculated that the end game, is everyone at Hazbin Hotel are gonna revolt for trying to protect each other (which is selfless cause they could bond really well by being Hotel residents and combined admiration for Charlie in a way) and be able to succeed.

I really like to think Vox sent Velvett at the meeting just so he wouldn't have to deal with Alastor after the humiliation he suffered from last episode x)

I feel the need to say that sense Vaggie clearly has some sort of military background, it adds fuel to the fire that she may be a fallen exterminator. Lute acts very stoic, so it’s possible the exterminators are kinda like an army or some type of

I love that it seems like Vaggie was a general or in the military in her past. Very fitting. Probably being with Charlie is her first chance to be a lady and have love in her life.

What's kind of hilarious is that Vaggie's and Carmilla's voice actors played a lesbian couple in the In The Heights film, so this isn't the first time they've sang together.

So Velvette isn't like the other Vees. She's just as ambitious, but unlike Vox or Val, she's quite cunning. Through the course of this song, she put a target on Carmilla's back, EVERYONE is going to want the secret of how she killed the angel, which also creates the possibilities of overlords falling trying to fight heaven's forces (note that when Alastor's crew made a move on heaven, she sat on her hands and watched for opportunities,) all whilst simultaneously convincing a room full of overlords that she's hotheaded, stupid, and unimportant AND showing everyone she can get away with challenging a room full of overlords without repercussions. Carmilla is my favorite, for being the smartest, but even SHE got played by Velvette, the master of manipulation.

Also for the meeting with overlords they are more older and ancient then Velvette which is probably why they weren’t agreeing with her because she’s younger and problematic and the other overlords will think things through because all of the other overlords seem like the type to fight so I think they weren’t saying they didn’t want to fight it’s that they are making tactics and strategies to win rather then just going to war. At least that’s what I think soz that was long.

Alastor is probably my favourite character. There's just so much we don't know about his true power, or where he disappeared to for 7 years. I really hope we get to to see his full power, and also find out where he was and if it has anything to do with Lilith also being gone. Also, Niffty makes me laugh. 😂 She's hilarious.

I think Vaggie might actually be one of Carmilla's daughters. They both speak Spanish and they both have white hair and the same skin tone. This would also explain why she has an angelic spear since Carmilla is the main purveyor of angelic weapons. It's possible that Lucifer maybe even asked Carmilla to assign one of her daughters as a bodyguard for Charlie, which could be how they met.

I bet in the next episode Valentino‐the punching bag will be beaten more than 20 times😈

Btw, did anyone notice that Carmilla's ballet shoes were glowing white? Something tells me her shoes are holy weapons, and she cut off the exorcist's head with her feet.

I love Alastor so much. Quick thing, though I don’t know if anyone else noticed but episode 1, in the beginning, did anyone notice how Charlie said that her mom‘s been gone for seven years? Then, in the last episode, and or in this episode, it was mentioned that Alastor has been gone for seven years as well. I’m coming up with theories. ❤ love your reaction.

Wish we'll have more Zestial and Carmilla next season. "Whatever It Takes" is still my favorite song this season. (I've seen all episodes.) Also, thank you for being the only reactor out there (who I've watched anyway) who's picked up on Carmilla looking at Zestial during her song and saying that she wants to keep him safe, too. Zestial was surprised, too. They're so lowkey sweet and caring for each other and I love that.

The overlords going to war is a win-win for the Vees. If they win, they can gain/keep more souls that would've been exterminated. If they start to lose, they can leave the other overlords to be exorcised then take over their turf.

My weakness are very powerful women who uses their power to protect their loved ones instead of hurting or abusing other people(Carmella and Charlie)

Main theory for Zestial is that he's pre Shakespeare, I personally assume around early to mid 1500s. He's speech patterns fit that time period and what rly convinces me is that i have yet to hear Zestial say a phrase or word invented by Shakespeare that has made its way into modern vocabulary, words such as "lonely" "comfortable" "critic" and the likes. I am going back thru his lines to make sure that's the case.

22:08 I think Alastor was gambling on the fact the egg boys or at least that one are typically seen as dumb minions of Pentious who everyone in the city already don’t give two s#%s about for anyone to believe to be true. And Pentious himself wouldn’t believe (for now I guess) the egg boys would come across such important, harrowing information by themselves since well, they like being told what to do. But if Pentious is as smart he thinks he is, he’d get suspicious of Alastor and will be interested to look into what the egg boys did for Alastor that day 🤔
