Way back in 1978 I became a fan of showaddywaddy through my pals sister, so by 1979 I discovered Rockabilly vie matchbox, but the first gig I ever went to at the ages of 14 dressed in my blue drape ted suit with George Cox white creepers and SHOWADDYWADDY , was my first gig , the original 8 guys are the best and always will be ,
I'm a 55 year old gentleman who remembers it as a living hell. Terrible cars, horrible music, and people used to treat others like shit. With brexit we are bringing back the bad ol' days.
@@yeticus1 Back in 2010 I was deluded enough to think that xenophobia in the UK was pretty much finished. But, the attitudes displayed in the '60s '70s and '80s haven't gone far away. What happened in 2016 and the aftermath is more of a symptom than a disease. I don't know if that's close to answering you.
@@mjowsey so because millions of people decided they didn’t want this country ruled by the EU but actually by people that were in some small way accountable to them you describe them as xenophobes? My wife is Bulgarian. I’m not a Xenophobe.
First time I’ve heard this song in about 29 years I last heard it in a game show called Gladiators they used it before every task. Woke up this morning with it playing in my head great song
Great decade to live through music wise.We had so much choice. This lot always looked like they were having fun above all else.Brilliant to watch again.
I saw Showaddywaddy at the Glasgow Apollo in 1976 - my first concert ever. The Apollo was bouncing !! The pre concert entertainment was a gang of Teddy Boys taking on the Apollo's bouncers - they lost ...

Remember my first showaddywaddy gig in Aberdeen 1981, it was great, then the year after 1982 they played Aberdeen again, an me an my pal both in Ted drapes got asked up onto the stage to dance with the guys as they'd seen us dancin like them in front of the stage, no bad for 2 16yr old Ted's, still a Ted today.
When I first saw them on the New Faces talent show. I was mesmerised, hooked line and sinker. I bought all their albums. I saw them live, at Sheffield City Hall UK, possibly the best concert ever. I wanted to be one. I remember wearing lime green socks for school and Brothel Creeper shoes. I wanted a Teddy boy suit so badly, they sold them in a Sunday paper £6, but I couldn't afford one. I bought a concert programme. and took it to my local barber hairdresser. I showed him the picture, ''I want my hair like him in the picture, it was the same as the Bowie haircut. After he finished, I still had a short back and sides. I looked like an escaped convict from Alcatraz. I can still remember the smell of the album cover, and I'd stir at it. for ages. They wrote some beautiful songs, ''Smiling Eyes'', and"'Sing on Louise. Brilliant. So talented, not me, them. Thanx for sharing, brought back many memories. Now I can afford a Lime green Teddy boy jacket, sadly the paper doesn't exist, Like my Showaddywaddy haircut. R IP Buddy.
For some reason, I now have a craving for rainbow sherbet. Amazing sound they get, without having their guitars plugged in. Sounds just like it was mixed in a recording studio! 8)
This was my first band to c in concert in Dublin I tried to get up onto the stage,,,, in those days there wasn't much security,,,,, I was up front I was 😊 happy crying I almost made it to the stage everyone was dancing to them never forget it fond fond memories
They usually took the mick out of it though, which was fun. Buffin, drummer of Mott the Hoople playing drums with rolling pins! And other such antics. Sparks dressed as Arabs and other things you could not get away with now! Favourite bit here is Malcolm Allured throwing his drums to the back of the stage in a fit! Hilarious!
