This performance never gets old no matter how many times I've seen it. Puts a smile on my face every time. My absolutely favorite showcase of all time.
They're both terrific. Beautiful technique - so smooth and precise. But why I keep coming back to watch is that I love the nuances in the choreography as well as the big moves that serve the music so well. And they execute with such musicality. The music swells and you feel it. Benji wears his heart on his sleeve; he won SYTYCD because of his connection with the audience. Nigel criticized his fake mugging during auditions. Here, in his element, I say he is dancing with joy.
And years later, I still return to this performance and am filled with the same wonder at the contrasts in movement and the musical intricacy. Thank you, Benji and Torri, for sharing such an amazing piece with us.
All I can say is WOW. Absolutely loved it. So wish I was like 30 years younger... I would have loved to learned to dance like this. What an insperation to all dancers out there. Just amazing!
Wow, this is taking WCS out of the box (slot) and into more expressiveness and creativity. Love the fluidity and music. Have really enjoyed seeing you develop Benji- as a dancer and artist, congrats to your partner too!
I loved Benji on SYTYCD but damn, seeing him do his thing, in his own element is just... Beyond words. This was awesome. Benji and Tori, it just can't get any better.
@nfomation I think many dancers today may be flirting with the audience, as you say, but I believe that Benji is actually enjoying himself and the movement that much! Every dancer has experienced at least moments of that kind ecstasy, and he embodies that feeling with every single step or movement. That smile is completely genuine!
Oh My God. I found this clip by chance. I do not know what is swing but this video is really make me smile and I want to learn how do swing dance .lovely couple indeed.
It is amazing how well they blend the lifts and tricks into the dancing; rather than breaking from the dance in order to do something acrobatic, they truly make it part of the dance! Also, I believe the music is "Love Story Meets Love Story", by Jon Schmidt, though the middle is taken out.
That was SUPERB dancing. Just lovely lovely balance. Great timing and spins. Beautiful committed aerials at speed. Benji is every girls dance partners dream-isnt he?? Hes just soooo Good. Torri is just a beautiful dancer!!!!She just maintains great balance in spins and lifts. And their presentation to the audience is smick!!! Ohhhh _im just gonna watch that again....:-)
They are so amazing, and this is my favorite TS song. She has come such a long way since then, and I really love to watch her and her hubby dance WCS together. So magical.
@andrewcbelbin Yeah. It looks a lot like an evolved Lindy Hop. This is where dance should be heading, especially WCS if they want to open up to more music and move away from the groove and tick/boom sound that it developed with. Truly beautiful!
@andrewcbelbin yeah, it looks a lot like an evolved Lindy Hop. This is where dance should be heading, especially WCS if that want to move from that groove and "tick/boom" sound that WCS is based on.
This is when becareful u have lived ur dream and people will try to steal away ur dream. U have to work hard then ever to keep ur dream alive. I think his body language says he loves dance. Dance move along can he follow is the question. I think he is a great preformer. We may move into rock era, rap era or a Instrumental era. He needs to protect his ability and work on the changes in decades if he wants to stand as Icon of Dance.
@andrewcbelbin I think in between in this Piano/Instrumental Cover is Coldplay - "Viva la vida" which was used by Tat & Jordan for a routine in 2009, it also looked like they used some of their moves to get the connection done (2:17 following) but even when there is a competition between all the WCS dancer, there is also a kind of friendship (I hope so) and that is what makes such parts really fun to watch!
@hatnguyen87 I think it's still viva la vida but "slightly" modified, if you pay attention you can hear the notes of the introduction. As to tell you who composed this new interpretation of viva la vida, i'm afraid i can't, sorry :)
2:24 That music change is Viva La Vida (Jordan and tat's music) and they do the EXACT same moves J+T do at the beginning of their routine! Check it out! ^_^
I love this routine so much if you look closely you can see my dad with glasses and a blue shirt on and I know them in real life thay are so nice and funny
I agree - the dancing is beautiful, and so is the music, but it looks like the music was grafted on after the fact instead of used to create their choreography.
