I wonder if WCBS New York or WBBM Chicago has any color kinescopes of "Shower of Stars" in their vault. I know the Pacific Time Zone watched a live colorcast in regular black & white since color was too expensive and they didn't have videotape until 1957.
True. Only the East and Midwest saw this in full color during the original telecast. I don't know if *any* color kinescopes exist of this one..........
This was a 55 minute show instead of a full hour, as a five minute "paid political announcement" (for Eisenhower's re-election, I believe) followed this special {in black and white} at 9:25pm(et).
How things on television has changed. It has gotten to be really bad! Only thing about this video is it represents America so much. All about the all mighty dollar. It has taken awhile but such a philosophy is bringing down the US!
