@Danielle Warnholtz Quebec in Canada. The juice isn't worth the squeeze. I agree that there are safer areas over the entire Country, but history has shown that evil wants as much as possible. When the locusts ruin their area then they will come to those areas.
Media always portrays the bad part of México, but that's not always true. You need to visit México & judge for yourself; otherwise, people woudn't move to México.
Congrats on your dream home! I've dealt with living in my master bedroom for over 2 months while contractors were remodeling the entire house so I can definitely relate. No kitchen access to cook especially for my dogs was not fun haha.

Is it worth it to live in such an unsafe place just to save some money? Mexico City has a relatively low rate of crime compared to other regions in the country and is safer than Mexico as a whole, yet it's still Mexico!
I think over time, she will definitely move somewhere else. She is quite adventurous, she lived in a camper before which I think is unsafe as well. So, this is already a step up from camper life.

22 Million people live in Mexico City and live there just fine. Why do you think it's just as awful place? It's a world class city! Plus if you've never even visited you have no right to talk about safety. The place feels just as safe to me as NYC or London. Multi millionaires, movie stars, politicians, business people etc all live in Mexico City

It started by being an au pair in Spain at 18. The full-on immersion, even just for 3 months really kickstarts everything. Then from there I’d read, listen to music and tv in Spanish, and travel to Latin America whenever possible so my Spanish has been like 15 years in the making now. I’m now learning French though and am loving the app Duolingo!
Nice work. I'm finishing up an addition myself so know all about delays and time line issues and having to correct or even accommodate something that wasn't accounted for. E. G. Changing a window size etc
Hi Rose, you handled that renovation like a pro! I've performed many, both on my personal property, and my rental units. If you can upgrade a kitchen for $10k, and a bathroom for $5k, that's about as good as it gets! Awesome work!

Renovation requires project management skills. I had my whole kitchen done and the flooring on the first floor. That's when I realized it's important to communicate, ask questions and try to predict what the contractor overlooked 😩
