I’m shocked the storage company didn’t just take them. Even tho it’s illegal, they do it all the time. Sad to see someone lose their collection like this. There’s no justice in this
@@Desecrator6 use your brain. the owner died and didn't have an heir that knew about the collection. It's more sad than anything. the person who owns this channel should have tried to reunite them w/ his family.
@@979259 AGREED! Isn't too hard to look for his obituary and see what happened. Can't continue watching. Total BS. NO ONE would just leave this collection.
I had a guitar student. He was about 48. He always wanted to learn to play guitar, but married young and had 3 children. When all his kids graduated from college and or left on their own, he finally decided to learn music. He bought Charvels, ESPs, Gibson's Les Paul guitar and basses. Keyboards and mics. The best amps and mixers. He had a room just for his music equipment. He said it was his dream to have all these, but couldn't have them before because of his promise. I think he spent over $50K in music equipment after his son left. It was a promised that he made to himself. Raise his kids and then do whatever he wanted to do and enjoy life. Then one day he had a heart attack and died. He probably enjoyed it a little over 6 months. It goes to show that we should enjoy life now and not wait for tomorrow cuz it will probably never be a tomorrow.
@@martins.9645 I'm 28 very mediocre guitar skills, own 11 guitars, hope one day I'll build up a collection like this, but I ain't ever putting my babes im a storage locker like that, they'll go down to my kids
If the guy passed away, you should try to get in touch with the family. That's the right thing to do. If the guy hasn't shown up in a long time and he had this collection, common sense would tell you to look for an obituary....but, this jerk just yaps on how much he can get YOU KNOW WHAT I'M SAYIN'?!
My ocd is going crazy that he didn't fix the cloth in the Gibson case, still bunched up under the neck and hanging out the side of the case... it's that how you really feel about a Les Paul with emg's in it? Lol
@@turunturun ya, i would feel really rude if I did that, but people subtly show you the level at which they even know to think about respecting you or your things.
To everyone saying it's a dead guy's collection - an alternative explanation. Look at the police reports from about 5 years ago for a music store that got ripped off. Thief stashes the guitars into a storage locker until things cool down knowing that guitars don't generally lose value. He got jailed, stopped paying, and here we are...
Those guitars will be spending a long time in that building. If someone is going to buy a custom shop they will order it. If he is holding out on top dollar, good luck to him
Seems like the seller is a actually motivated to sell. Probably because be a lot of sick guitars to sell. Seems like Guitarfind also got a killer deal simply by judging off his envelope’s of cash. The Rickenbacker Chris Squier bass is worth like 6k on its own. He got a sick stack of USA Jackson’s, a Charvel, heritage, two Custom shop les Paul’s, and the Rick bass for far cheaper than their worth.
Right?! The Tweed case definitely stood out, but sometimes there’s just so much to take in, things get missed. And yeah, all those Jacksons-what a crazy haul!
So there was this guy in our music scene in the 80s. He was totally stuck in the 60s. Years later his parents died, he got the house and a ton of cash. He bought a ton of vintage gear, I'd say 75-100k worth. Fast fwd a decade and he ends up hooked on fentanyl. No family, no gf and his only friends were me and another guy that talked to him every few months. They condemn his house because it's a hoarding mess. All the gear goes into storage. Not long after he dies from an od. He was living in a hotel (he had plenty of money) and all the gear is in storage somewhere. We called around but couldn't locate it. Knowing Mark he probably paid years in advance at the storage place. Whenever the bill comes back up someone is finding a shit load of vintage gear. No one would just leave that much gear in this clip. I'm guessing the guy died and no one knew it was there.
Sorry that you lost a friend. Chances are very slim that he paid well over 30 years of storage fees in advance. Especially if he passed away in the 90’s chances are his epic stash or gear was found long ago. Or the more probable conclusion is that he might have sold it off prior to his death. Or someone else knew where it was and raided it soon after he had passed.
No one would just walk away from that much stuff. Even if they suddenly went broke you could probably convince someone to pay the bill, sell a guitar or two and pay the guy back and have storage fees for years. Id say someone died suddenly and no one knew all that stuff was there. It actually happened to a guy I knew with a ton of vintage gear.
It’s hard to even imagine-must be heartbreaking to lose something you’ve spent years collecting. All those memories and pieces of history just gone. Definitely a tough situation.
I hear that, but Jackson USA models custom shop? That's really hard to pass up cuz they're all real deal Jackson's not the Indonesian or Korean or Chinese, they're all real deal USA Pros they're worth a lot of money man 5,000 6,000 and up. What a find!!! Did anybody catch what he paid for the ones he got???
for those who dont know, buddy blaze is a huge underground guitar painter top of the line level. buddy blaze painted dimebags guitars and also painted dimes original dean from hell that became so iconic it was one of the most well know guitars ever.
Right on! Thanks for the info! I thought he was a guitar builder as well. But I guess he was part of the painting portion of the guitar building process. Pretty cool nonetheless!
He did Vivian Campbell's polka dot Kramer NightSwan when he was in Whitesnake. Probably the lightning bolt one, as well. They are currently available. Killer.
Totally! Walking in feels like stepping into guitar heaven 🎸🤩. The anticipation is real! And yeah, that Charvel is a beast-definitely one of the highlights (and one that we still have). Thanks for checking it out! 😎🔥
Not doing well? Finally instruments are going back to the reasonable prices they used to be again hahaha. It blew my mind to see used instruments go for like 90% their new value XD
Were half of those guitars even played? They still had paper around the neck. Would like to know more about the person that rented that storage unit. There is definitely a happy and sad story behind this one.
Sorry to hear about that. KxK guitars are super unique, I'd keep checking eBay / Reverb. They usually pop up eventually for sale somewhere. If you have Instagram, DM me info (photo of guitar, location, when it was stolen, how it was stolen, ect) and I can repost it to spread awareness.
Incredible find!!! I'm happy for the dude that scored!! Def not my cup of tea as far as guitars go,, I'm more on the lines of Vintage Fenders and Gibsons..
The thing I love doing most in life is cleaning and recovering old guitars, my dream has always been to have thousands of them, but I only have two so I can say I'm dying of envy just seeing all these wonders.
I'll be honest when this was filmed, I was not well versed on the super boutique builders (Nash included). I passed on a lot of the ultra cool unique guitars because I didn't know much about them. I have since learned A LOT more about the higher end market. Won't make that mistake twice.
So glad none of that stash is my market! So stoked you found that honey hole! Curious to know if the guitars sitting for so long in a non temperature controlled environment damaged any of them?
I’m torn on this video bc of course these guitars are amazing and in mint condition is crazy but imagine these where your guitars, and what it took to earn them and even store them, I’m sure the guitar custom shop knows who they made those guitars for, if the owner passed away the family deserves to know about these guitars
The dude wasn't an idiot. You rent a storage locker and have no one to tell or choose not to tell anyone you have it; the agreement the renter entered into with the storage facility is apparent. You don't pay or make arrangements to pay or clear it out; anything & everything inside is going to be auctioned off. If this renter had a family that would possibly care about his collection, the renter’s wishes obviously were to not tell anyone about it. Or, who knows? Maybe the family knew about it, but since the renter left them 70-100 million in their will, it's beneath them to even step foot on a storage unit facility now. Maybe they even knew exactly what was in there but said “F” because they got their payday already, and if your set for life+, don't give a crap about guitars or their loved one’s obsessive hobby, out of sight, out of mind.
What a find. Just incredible. The only thing that sucks at least from my point of view is that the guy who bought the locker shows zero humility, zero appreciation, zero empathy for the guy who lost it all. No reverence for these amazing instruments either. Sucks it wasn't someone who truly appreciated what they had.
I totally understand your perspective. It’s always tough knowing that these incredible pieces, which someone likely poured a lot of love into, ended up in a storage locker. It’s important to have respect and appreciation for the history behind these instruments. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and I really appreciate you recognizing the significance of these guitars. 🎸🙏
Thats pretty a pretty cool find and now they'll be out in circulation for people to play. Its unfortunate the guy passed away and had no family to leave them to or anything. I'm surprised sitting in a unit for so long that there were no humidity problem with the finishes or neck warping. Many great pieces. Good luck with the sales 👍
Thanks! It is pretty special knowing these guitars will get back out there and be played again. It’s always a bit sad when a collection like this doesn’t have someone to pass it on to, but we were lucky that they were well-preserved despite the conditions. Appreciate the well wishes on the sales! 👍
Those yamaha basses in that storage space certainly looked like billy Sheehan signature series. You should look into them if you're unfamiliar. Super nice pieces. I backed up the vid a few times to try'n spot the double input jack but couldnt. Nice haul. Dude was relatively annoying (as previously mentioned) but overall it's toolboxes like that that make the work possible. Nice cnannel. I will be subbing.
Great catch! 🎯 That was indeed a Billy Sheehan signature model you spotted! Super nice piece for sure. Glad you noticed it, and thanks for backing up the vid to check it out! 🔍 And yeah, sometimes it's the quirky characters that make the work possible. Appreciate you watching, and thanks for subbing-welcome aboard! 🎸🙌
You're absolutely right-it's hard to imagine someone intentionally abandoning such a valuable collection. It's definitely worth considering the backstory behind how these guitars ended up in a storage unit.
@@GuitarFinds ...yeah, I would definitely find out. Always remember just because its a legal purchase doesn't mean it's a "safe" purchase. This Country allows others to profit off others misfortunes like housing foreclosures , storage units, car impounds...etc..etc.. and it can be as simple as one missing a few payments. When they find out their sh*t is missing they will come hunting for it. Im just saying this for safety reasons is all. But good luck in your adventures.
What a crazy honey pot of guitars. Fascinated about the back story. But sayin that I have some [unmarried] friends that have accumulated similar levels of guitars - they’re traders/collectors and that’s all they spend their disposable income on. If that’s all you do and you don’t have kids/wife/etc it’s incredible what can be accumulated.
I dont think the EMGs in that gibson lpc hurt its value any considering 490/498 pick ups that come stock in that are a dime a dozen and not like some custom specked pickups so I think its still worth the same I would love to have any 7 string in there!
Who lets such a collection go? Did he pass away? That's crazy. I would think theft, but it sounds like he was having them delivered to him. Unless someone stole them from the guy thst they were delivered to. I don't know. I've only got about 2 dozen guitars and each one means something to me. I can't imagine just letting it go like that. So strange. Even if I got to the point I had to let some go to pay for storage I would only be able to let a very few go. There were a couple in this collection that would easily pay for storage for quite a while. This just makes no sense to me.
Considering the tuning sticker, those were definitely guitar used in studio / tour WHat's weird to me is that they have the name of the guy but never mention trying to contact him directly to see what's going on
@@claire6650 The seller at one point says something about there only being one person with that name in the area, but he is a doctor. I assume that he called him and he wasn't the guy or saw the guy listed as a PHD and assumed that a doctor wouldn't have a guitar collection. There is quite a lot of money spent here and an individual as mercurial as this person was (to keep all the case candy in the same guitar case) wouldn't just let it go. If someone was storing them for a studio (considering your observation of the tuning sticker) it makes me ask why would a studio spend such money on such a narrow spectrum of guitar sound and drop the money on custom guitars instead of specific guitars for the particular sound quality - a P90/humbucker/single coil - hot pickups/warm pickups etc. I know these guitars won't sound identical, but I can't see a studio marketing itself as the premiere metal studio, because even the best, most expensive studios can't afford to be that selective in their clientele. This just won't let the analytical part of my brain go, trying to put the most confusing pieces together.
wow ...just wow !!! keep only a strat ,a les paul, a jackson ,a esp ,a other esp in a different color ,a bass, a five string bass, a 6 string bass ,the conga drum ,a musicman guitar,a dean guitar....dang keep them all it's like POKEMON!!!!!!! JUST WOW!!!!😲😛😎
Congratulations on the great find. But I saw in the video that there's a old street name sign by the guitars. Wonder if you guys have the contact info of the seller? I would love to buy the sign off him. I born in Hong Kong and I walked that street many years when I was a boy.... please let me know. And thank you for your help.
I hear you! EMGs in a Les Paul Custom definitely stir up some debate. Some folks love that modern, heavy sound, while others prefer to keep it traditional. To each their own! 😄🎸
The original owner most definitely measaged me once. He sent me a ton of pics of guitars including that orange soloist. He was nudging for a trade but it never happened. Then he just sent me pics of his entire collection for no reason.
I would have taken that Keisel and given it to Jason Becker for him to sign and auction off. His medical expenses are through the roof, and it would help him quite a bit. Just my 2 cents.
Couple possibilities, he got free guitars for doing reviews or he was a reseller in which case the it may be covered by insurance but I don't think he was a collector. Someone who loves guitars that much is going to take them out and play with them. There wouldn't be so many still in the box.
@RiffChord I totally get that sentiment of trying to find the previous owner but from the perspective that money was paid by way of a lawful storage unit auction to purchase the contents inside of the unit....do you then contact the previous owner and say "Hey I bought this unit that previously was yours, do you want to now pay me the thousands of dollars that I have into winning the unit to get your stuff back?" I don't see asking that question as being constructive or beneficial as that only leads to either anger or resentment from the previous owner, if they were even still alive. Some things are better left alone.
@RiffChord I understand your point, but at the end of the day I'm running a business, not a charity. Morals are great for charitable ventures, but legalities are what guide my decisions in business. When people abandon their property, it's my job to handle it by the book, nothing more, nothing less. If someone wanted to claim it, they had their chance. Getting caught up in the what-ifs of what happened doesn't help my business at the end of the day. Legal and moral situations can overlap in messy ways, especially when dealing with abandoned property. Thanks for the comment though, because businesses do need to have morals when buying/ selling so it’s a conversation worth having.
i really enjoyed the video! This was super cool and interesting. A lot of really cool and rare gear. I felt like the guy knew next to nothing about anything other than what a cursory search of reverb had told him about anything and would have loved if they'd have shut up and let you talk a little more but it is what it is. Also, at least to my limited understanding EMGs provide a super clean signal, they're great for recording a multitude of genres, even if someone isn't super fond of their like "live" sound, especially if you're going directly into the console/interface. I know a lot of people frown on EMGs for not having any like signature, but that's kind of the point is the lack of "color" to them. thanks for sharing!! EDIT: was it not climate controlled??? edit 2: only thing I know about KxK is Karl Sanders of Nile played them
Can't lie... even though the jp7 isn't all that special, I'm super jealous you found it. It looked absolutely perfect. One of these days I'll own a majesty 7 or a jp7
