Akira Toriyama is not dead. Why? Because someone is only truly dead when they are forgotten. I can assure you… Akira Toriyama will never be forgotten. Legends do not die
In the US in 1999, Toonami was airing the second half of the Namek saga. In October of that year I had a spinal injury that left me in the hospital for six weeks. I had to learn how to do everything again as I healed - I had to learn how to walk again, how to feed myself, how to write, etc. I would have six to eight hours of therapy every day to try and get me better, and every day I would make sure to be done by 5:30 so I could watch Dragonball Z. One specific day was extremely rough and I ended up in a really sour and sad mood, being bitter that my progress had hit a wall over the previous week. I was extremely depressed bordering on suicidal. Then that night, the episode of Goku going SSJ played. It was everything about it - the scream, the music, the sense that he was pushing through to something just past his grasp and finally achieving it - that just floored me. I related so much to Goku in that moment. It gave me the motivation to keep pushing forward. It took another year of therapy, but I finally made a full recovery. Dragonball has meant so much to me at every stage of my life since then, and to find out that Toriyama is gone now just hurts on a level that's so hard to describe. I remember reading a quote about the reason we cry when creators, artists, singers, etc pass away. It's not because we knew them - it's because they helped us to know ourselves.
Damn man…your story was the like the perfect blend with dbz that only comes once every 1000 years…the legendary super saiyan…had me mad emotional…happy you’re still striving and that quote at the end was profound…
Childhood??? Dragon Ball has been a part of my life since I was 10 and still continues to be well into my adult years. There's no way that Toriyama knew the full extent of influence he's had on MULTIPLE generations across the entire planet, R.I.P. Toriyama and thank you for your life changing work.
When the editor guy said that if they drew nothing they'd just draw goku or vegeta it threw me back so far in my school days! coming to school to discuss dbz episodes and showing off the drawings of different characters of dbz was the shizz back then here in India!! It's crazy how many communties akira touched unironically and ironically. Black, white, hispanic, chinese, japanese ofc, indians, africans, gymbros, meme culture, everything influential in some or the other form has referenced his works. What a way to live and what an impression to leave on the world!! RIP you absolute legend!!
Akira Toriyama, Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, all people who affected the black community. Edit: Since people keep getting mad, I just wanted to say that my comment had nothing to do with race. I know it effected everyone, IM NOT EVEN BLACK. I made this joke cause people made a joke that piccolo is black.
Goku, Vegeta and Piccolo are aliens, so people is a strange description even if they werent made up characters 😅. And whats up with this angle of the black community? DBZ was/is loved by evryone regardless of race, it sounds silly to turn it into a groupthing while its clearly not.
Akira Toriyama will be missed... I am a HUGE fan of Dragon ball especially DBZ. That was a classic... I have the Action figures, Manga's and even a Signed Poster of Dragon ball 🐉 from him... I've watched DB, Z, Super, Movies, All the Mangas and most importantly have appreciated all of them. As a Kid, i have always wanted to write a letter to him saying thank you... But that dream will never be fulfilled... His work can truly never be copied... 😔😞😣 *me finally crying*😭
It was early 90s when I first watched Dragon Ball, Dragon Quest. While other kids wants to be a Teacher, Engineer etc. Akira Toriyama inspired me to be an artist and to take good care of my body. thank you and rest in peace.
Respect to the reporter for the colors. What a life this man had! Akira put in the same amount of love into small projects like Cowa than he did to the Dragon Ball projects. The man's passion was insane! From Dr. Slump, Dragon Ball, Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest, and everything in between, an entire world of people are feeling this loss. He once said something along the lines that his goal was to create something that would be around long after his death. It's safe to say he accomplished his mission a few times over. Legacy established! I will miss you sir! Rest in peace you Legend.
Talk about letting your fanaticism speak for itself while announcing the saddest news you could think of (as a fan) of a beloved memory and yet remain professional. Wow... very well done. RIP Toriyama-sensei. Gone but will never be forgotten!
Shutting a tear here for the man who shaped the mind of a lot of young people in the early 90s you are a legend your stories Will Be Loved and in the hearts of all of us an artist a a storyteller legend a warrior Toriyama thank you so much for all that you've given us in sacrifice
Ita not just the reporters colors that resembles the Gi, but the way she has her hair back on one ear resembles what 18 would do. Mad respect. RIP Toriyama
It's heartwarming to see how influential Dragon Ball is when you see MMA fighters, Wrestlers, Athletes, Celebrities, Politicians, Countries, shows, and other forms of media showing respect and mourning over Toriyama sensei's passing.
@@justju0rd Oh my goodness! I didn't even notice your name, haha. It's so good to see you again, friend. By the way, any social media account (besides RU-vid) I could reach out to you at?
Its amazing to see how much Toriyama influenced the world with his work it really is beautiful and to see how the world has now come together to truly appreciate him after his death is just incredible Fly high Toriyama sensei you inspired us all
RIP TORIYAMA. I'll forever be grateful to you for allowing my imagination to run rampant and enjoy my childhood all the way through to my adult hood. You inspired me and so many others.
I first watched Dragon Ball when I was 9 years old in the year 2000. I'm now age 33. My brother was a huge fan of the entire story. We even played several video game titles, especially the Budokai fighting games. I've recently started watching Dragon Ball Super and playing both Dragon Ball Xenoverse games. I even bought Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. I read one person wishes they had all seven Dragon Balls. They'd wish to bring Akira Toriyama back to life. Thank you, Akira Toriyama, for over 40 years of Dragon Ball. Until the next time. 🧡
I love this, all of this. Thank you for giving such a detailed and beautiful story on the sad news. And thank you to the News Anchor for paying tribute with her outfit ❤️
"leaving its lasting message of always pass you limits and become stronger" well said. But there's more to it. It's about the passion and love he put to this series and he touched many of our hearts because of that. He made us learn to make our worst enemies into friends, to make our rivals to crewmates,And to do what we love and break the limit of what you can currently do and push through. Toriyama sensei was a true teacher and a hero ❤🫡
I WAS WATCHING DRAGON BALL Z IN LIKE 1996 IN VHS WITHOUT SUBTITLES!!! THAT TELL YOU HOW GOOD THE SHOW WAS! 🔥🔥🔥 #DragonBallZ #Nostalgia #ChildhoodMemories
RIP Toriyama thank you for everything. I grew up off Dragonball Z the very first anime, welcomed into the USA that set the foundation for anime across the world. Where people united because of the like of a cartoon. Culture friendships and bonds were made because of you and your work, you will be missed. Thank you
Facts all me and my cousin use to do was trace pictures of all the DBZ characters when we was kids I stopped there he actually became able to freehand and make his own characters and then use to be nice too RIP
The reason why the show was so influential. Must be went on a lifelong journey with these characters. We grew with these characters. We became different people because of these characters. This wasn't the TV show, this was a journey.
Was not expecting a local news station to show this much respect. A lot of people are dismissive but this was very well done. And yes, I wanted to hear the newscaster's own thoughts given that she's got the Goku look going on, so either her, her wardrobe manager, or both are big fans.
Best mainstream news report I've seen about this sad passing. Thank you for doing it right! Much better than the BBC woman who described it as "a story about a boy collecting magical balls to summon dragons to fight bad guys" ugh. RIP Akira Toriyama!
when i first saw DBZ on tv for the first time it was amazing. it was the 90''s. im over 35 years old now and still watch DBZ for over 29 years. i gotta admit it been part of my life
This lady deserves recognition! Also, rest in peace Akira Toriyama. You gave my young mind a place to be when the real world was too much. You taught me to love myself. Lastly, your art style has been the biggest influence on me and countless others.
These guys are lost I'm 55 and remember clearly many anime on channel 5 in the early 80's before DBZ/S there was Starblazers in English the Japanese submarine in space and so many other Robotech, Gundam all before DragonBall and I have a sweet collection for over 30 years with my son that cost even more now RIP King sensei
Thank you Akira Toriyama for everything, all characters will always remember you for making the best to all of us, Toonami and me do appreciate the greatest anime influencer of all time.
