SHRINKAGE! Short Cigars For The Winter Months

Being in montana, since late November I’ve been relegated to garage smoking… and use a space heater for my feet as well as wear two coats and two pair of sweats. After I finish my stick I use a 4” induction fan to suck out the smoke and if it’s above freezing I’ll also open the garage door to air out the space. This works great to watch a movie or tv show to, and as long as you only do a single cigar It won’t be too too smokey

I'm a warm weather cigar smoker. Bought a greenhouse last Summer. My new man cave is 91 degrees currently in mid Michigan in mid March. Love your videos Tim and your excitement.

Interesting topic. Oliva Nub makes a series, although they are all 4×60 which I think is just the right size. There is also the R&J Short Churchhill which is an AWESOME smoke. If I had to pick a couple on the more economical front; Alec Bradley Nano or Flor de Copan Short Magnum.

Just got into cigars over the holidays. Standing out in the cold ( just west of Toronto) to have a cigar kinda sucks. This was the video I needed to watch, thanks. I am subscribed.

Usually go for the Nubs when it's cold, but they can sometimes get a little long especially the larger guages. Also the brazilia Corcovado is another short one with great flavor. And on those ultra cold days when I just don't know how long I'll be able to stand it, I go to the budget friendly Quorum Short Robusto at sub $2 each they are great and you don't feel bad if the cold wins.

Exquisitos count? One of my favorite smokes period.

Sitting in my garage with the heater on, a couple of layers to add comfort and multi-tasking: smoking my "normal" sized cigars and enjoying your content. I just received a box of La Perla Perlitas but have yet to light one up. Will report on it when have done so.

Thanks for your videos and live show (which I miss due to time zone difference) Alec Bradley Black Markets are good value for the money so are the Olivas G or V in their different "cape" or wrappers. A tent is a swell idea. Hereover a tent would not do it as we saw the sunshine only twice in the last 30 days - the rest was rain. I therefore repossessed my upstairs covered veranda which served me for 2 years as an office during Covid confinement. It has brick walls and full roof and windows which well protects from rain but since it is not insulated leaves a nice natural ventilation. I heat it up with 1 or 2 2000 W electrical heaters to feel comfortable and when too cold I just wear a double long underpants. Yesterday after your video I spent some hours having a nive Tatuaje Gran Cojonu, while preparing my quarterly VAT return. When below freezing, I just pre-heat the room before sitting. Now of course that will not please Greta Thundberg, but I reckon she should get into cigars and be a happier camper altogether. Thanks again and take care

Those primeros are my favourite short cigars. They just never disappoint and they go well with a latte macchiato or a cappuccino.

Nice Zappa reference there, Tim. When it comes to smaller smokes, as typical as this may sound, it's (still) hard to beat Papas Fritas or Nasties.

Just the opposite down here in SW FL. Churchills, Toros & Gordos this time of year, Rothschilds & Robustos during the hot summer rainy season months. Might have to add some 4x32 Pequenos to the summer collection.

This year the winter is not that harsh in Poland, but still i switched to Tabak Especial 4x32 dark roast as my regulars. Great little sticks. Yet longing for a regular relaxed summer smoke during a barbeque or a campfire...

Romeo y Julieta has a small cigar too. It is a 4x38 I believe and comes in a 5 pack tin with a small boveda. Oh and it's the 1875. As always thanks for the videos Tim

Great video as always. I would love to see you do a review and get your thoughts on the toscano cigars. I have not had one but hear many speak down on them (none of them have ever smoked one though). Papas fritas is my go to in cold weather.

I smoke mostly tins from Davidoff or Liga 9 when I'm at hotel stay or vacation. I'm lucky to have the big cigars In the winter since I smoke in my garage with the heater on next to me.

Hoyo de Monterrey petit robusto . One of the best smokes around and perfect for the Canadian winters haha

Arturo Fuente makes the chateau sun grown in some shorter lengths and I LOVE them

Got myself a few tins! Weather here in Chicago is awful.

UK perspective: All cigars are expensive. But the Comacho range and Davidoffs are more expensive than Quorum robustos. The Punk is a fabulous smoke any time of year, but now about $12. The Drew tins are now silly prices, but decent. The tiny AVO range were good, but now expensive. Best bang for buck at the moment is the El Viejo Continente 3.5x44 in two varieties at about $8 and worth it 👍

21 degrees and snow up to my knees in Minnesota. Insulated Carhart bibs and coat. Definitely robusto weather.

For small cigars I like the junior (4x38) sizes from Rocky Patel. I bought several of their Sungrown juniors a few days ago, i can get 20-30 min out of them. My record was 38ish minutes though

Try the Arturo Fuente Exquisito maduro. Very small cigar, big Fuente flavor and 3-4 bucks a stick. 20-30 minute smoke time and very enjoyable. If you’re a Fuente fan, a must try.

I’m new to cigars so I just smacked a Lampert Edicion Rojo Robusto that my brother gave me for Christmas outside at like -15°C… my hands were quite cold but the cigar was quite pleasant.

I live in Ohio and mainly work in Columbus . I'm in concrete construction so we usually get laid off from Jan to March . It's a good time to rest your body and work on yourself . I'm definitely going to enjoy some cigars . I need to set up a room for cigars . I'm not going to the garage cause it's not connected . I'm going to buy a window fan and keep an electric heater going to keep it comfortable while smoking .

The Deadwood tobacco Crazy Alice is a great smaller smoke. It's a pyramid style. Kinda looks like a spliff.

Any of you that live in very cold areas. I live in the mountains in Montana and I use an Ice fishing tent on my back deck. I lay my outdoor rug down and then mount the tent on my back deck. Put a little heater in there and even when it hits -50 degrees I can go in there with a hoodie. Just a suggestion! They work really nice!

Well for the winter time, if i smoke at all, my pick is Romeo y Julieta Coronitas en Cedro, Cusano coronas and JLP petite cazadores.

From a Business standpoint you guys and manufacturers pushing cigars for everyday is great for the Wallet. We forget that cigars are meant to be enjoyed occasionally whether once a week 3x month well you get the point. During the winter months in the Northeast I purchase cigars for all the other seasons. I’d rather smoke one great cigar once a week than 7 ok ones everyday. Just my .2 but we as Americans smoke cigars almost like cigarettes. PS I like your channel keep up the good work.

I smoke the RJ Blue tin. Amazingly smooth and last about 10min. I want to try the Arturo Fuente minis next.

Tim I agree with all your choices. Personally I like Undercrown, and I like Black Market by Bradley so I will assume the punk size will be as good. Don’t like acid, not into aromatics. I will also add to your list Tatuaje Verocú, P.G gourmet series 30th, padrón corticos and fuente exquisitos and cubanitos. Especially the maduros I find they pack a punch. Finally liga privada No 9 coronets. 👍

Minnesota has about 6-7 months where you can be outside and actually enjoy a cigar, otherwise, it's just way too damn cold to be a good time. So the other half of the year good cigar lounges/shops are key!

The 4.1/4.2x36 Cohiba Pequenos are an easy recommendation, available in Red, Blue, Black, or Nicaraguan. The Oliva Serie G in 4x38 are great with coffee. The AF Cubanitos (4.2x32) are nice. For a cigarillo, the 4x24 Excaliburs from Hoyo are hard to beat.

I used to love the H. Upmann Half Corona back in the early 10's, but I feel like they have lost it a little bit, but it still works in the snow. If I want something quicker I'd go for something like Avo Classic Puritos.

Oliva Connecticut reserve cigarillo would be awesome!

These are the kind I like all the time, anything over a 6x50 maximum is just too big for me. And it's rare that I'll smoke something that big. Maybe it's because I'm a shortarse Englishman lol.

just finished an Alec Bradley Medalist, it was a god smoke but the construction was undesirable. The wrap started to unravel towards the middle and the total cigar itself was rolled too tight.

Is it best to still store the smaller cigars like you show in this video or the smaller cigarillos in a humidor if you're not going to be smoking them for an extended period of time? I'm new to the world of cigars!
