Sorry for the noob question, but what is the "processing" on/off? Is that on the mic itself or something done in post? thanks

Receievd the SM7DB this week. Incredible microphone.

Are you using it for recording vocals/music? Would you recommend it for that

No. Not yet. Just spoken word. The Shure SM7B can absolutely handle vocals and instruments, but you won't get ad much high end clarity with it as you would some of its competitor

Not a fan of the proportions of the sm7db. In alot of early test it sounds like it was clipping to me. If you have the 7b dont buy it if you dont have either or a preamp get the db

TLDR: they're the same mic but the sm7dB has an in built pre amp that you can toggle on or off which in multiple tests has proven to make more noise than the sm7b with the same amount of gain from a good interface. NOT WORTH

The dB is not a better mic. It's worse. A Fethead with a 7B is the same, but has more flexibility (you can use the Fethead with other mics).
