Please subscribe @ / @quantiqualification My Toyota FJ Cruisers hood latch stopped working. Here is my quick fix to keep her rolling. Toyota part number for the spring is 9050609050 per @tjgalletta3908. Thanks for the tip.
I just tried this and it worked perfectly. I used the same exact spring you did. Whole project cost $8 and I still have a spare spring that came in the 2-pack. I will likely have to replace the line eventually, but this will keep my truck on the road and not headed back to overpay at the dealer.
@zee_nyc It really depends on how bad your latch is to determine what is needed to make it operational. Mine was good-to-go except for the spring. $85 is not too bad. Congrats on a working latch!
Thanks, that was my reaction exactly. The garage owner said on the 2013, the entire hood lock assembly had to be replaced - that it was "sealed" and the interior was inaccessible. He also said he couldn't obtain the assembly for less than $115. I can definitely follow your instructions, and I've found the 2013 part online - the spring is accessible from the back of the assembly. So I'm going down there today to see if we can work something out.- @@QuantiQualification
