Living on a Cruise Ship Full Time with Royal Caribbean’s one and only Super Mario! In this episode, we discuss how the Cruise Shutdown put a wrinkle in Mario's plans to continue to live at sea. Mario Salcedo has been living his life at sea, living aboard Royal Caribbean’s fleet for the past 20 years. He shares with us how he was unable to stay aboard a cruise ship during the 15-month cruise shutdown and the question on everyone's mind, what he did instead.
This is a three-part series where we will continue in learning from Super Mario, discussing how living his life at sea looks a bit different than previously and what makes his favorite ships as opinions have changed over time!

How nice for Super Mario to be his age and have the $$$ to have such pleasant lifestyle. I am older, 78, but cannot do anything similar. this was awesome. i don't even cruise but watched all your interviews with super mario a few years ago, and kept looking at your channel for an update on him. so happy he had a great 15 months away, and is back cruising. would love more interviews with him talking about his current day cruising experiences in these trying times. happy sailing....

Super Mario is my idol.❤️ I live exclusively on cruise ships and in AirBnBs, about an even split. But I can't hold a candle to Super Mario. I like to think of myself as Mario Jr.😂 Maybe someday I will graduate to his lifestyle.

I look for stays that meet a price point, have laundry and kitchen access (unless it's just for a single night pre-cruise), are a reasonable distance from the cruise port and/or airport, and have pets since my lifestyle does not allow any of my own.

I saw him at dinner in the Windjammer deck 11 place and picked a moment to come up and say hi and I told him I had seen his business model and as an old guy myself it sounds interesting for the future for sure. I asked him this exact thing, "what happened to you during the shutdown" and he said "one word, Aruba!" :) - that is a nice word indeed

Lucky Super Mario was waiting out the return to cruising in Australia or New Zealand. Of course as of this date of this comment, could be longer than 2 years. Actually, I think it will be longer.

@@CruisetheWorldAtoZ I've got 14 cruises under my belt, mostly from Royal Caribbean and would have made Diamond plus on a back to back on Voyager of the seas through East Asia back in 2020. I've been cruising since 2016. My home port is near the Sydney harbour bridge in the international overseas passengers Circular Quay (key not cay).

@@CruisetheWorldAtoZ Hopefully the cruise travel in Australia will be lifted on December 17th this year and hopefully we can start cruising by mid year 2022. Your family might want to try cruising in Australia. Many of us are hoping to cruise in Europe, East Asia, the various Caribbean nations and the U.S in a current season soon (which is summer over here). We are one of the top nations to cruise, and the only ones not to be cruising. By March 2022 if we don't cruise, it will be 2 years since the ban was applied.
