"Inception" came out just a few months before this, and between these two Leo movies it felt like everyone went for it over "Shutter Island". Not knocking "Inception", but I think this was the better of the two. So glad you've watched it.
Wait what?! For some reason I always thought that Inception was a much newer/recent movie than shutter island. Shutter Island has that older-movie vibe to it (in a good way). Can't believe they came out in the same year
Shutter Island was released before Inception in February... Inception was a summer blockbuster starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Subject matter aside, its not exactly surprising one was "bigger" than the other.
Andrew pretending like he's still in his psychotic loop just to drop that hint that he's not and probably just wants to be lobotomized just to forget. "Is it better to live as a monster, or die a good man?"
Shutter Island came out in 2010, Gangs of New York is the one from 2002 and it is awesome, if it is one of the ones you haven't seen yet, check it out. Also, highly recommend Bruce Lee's Warrior and Tokyo Vice
Can we please have subtitles enabled if the sound discrepancy between you and the movie is gonna be so large? I know a lot of people would greatly appreciate it.
He didn't revert back at all. He was completely sane when he said, "Which would be worse? To live as a monster or die as a good man." He chose to have his memory wiped.
3:15 The part where the doctor describes what "Rachel" did and says _"She insisted the children weren't dead"_ then they show her photograph with that delusional dead far away stare in her eyes always sends chills down my spine
Jimmy, I can totally understand if you don't wanna do it, but I would give anything to watch your second viewing of this movie as a commentary. It's a completely different experience and it would be awesome to watch that.. But anyway.. Just happy you watched this movie! It's amazing.. :D
Loved your reaction but "That was the greatest movie I never need to see again" is where you went astray. This is the movie if there ever was one to watch a 2nd time.
Great movie the first time you watch it Phenomenal movie the second time you watch it One of the greatest twists ive ever seen and its so well planted!
Wow... I forgot how eerie and tragic the heavy atmosphere was in this movie... the nightmares, the colors, the sad violin music "On the Nature of Daylight".... That's it, I'm watching it again!
This is adapted from a book by Dennis Lehane. Other movies adapted from his work are: Mystic River, The Drop, and Gone Baby Gone. They're all great and worth the watch.
If you're going to watch The Color of Money, you need to first check out 1961's The Hustler starring Paul Newman as Scorsese's film is actually a sequel.
One of my favorite movies and so satisfying to rewatch and see what you missed when you know the ending. Went in thinking it’s a psychological thriller about a corrupt mental asylum, did not expect the tragic story I got but I loved it.
You must have kids, or want them some day. That struggled breath-in tells,...when the reveal is shown. Brutal. Amazing movie. I struggle with the emotions everytime I see that scene.
