This DVD is sitting on my shelf with a warm glow around it... been a long time, but I remember this one fondly. Especially loved the snarky story book style narrator and the many 4th wall breaks when the character's react to the narrator's comments.

At the end where Ryoko was asked if she likes Ryoshi and she answers with that she doesn't dislike him, all I could think of was, "Okay, but that isn't what you were asked."

The problem with Ryoko was that she was trying to be too tough, like I've seen the anime and I know about her experience with this animes "bad guy" but she literally had a guy was willing to protect her with his very life and yet she's still kept him at a distance, it was likely because she was afraid of being hurt but it took one other girl who in fact was in love with the male protag and she basically told Ryoko up front "girl you better get your feeling in order before I decide to take him for myself" now I know there's a manga and I'm not sure if its still going or ended but I hope it made some progress passed the anime
