Thank you for choosing Finneas. He deserves more recognition that he has. Plus, as you said, he's so involved in her music that it feels right to choose him!
Yes well Billie does do some of her own production to and still writes her stuff Finneas does do a lot more in the production and instrumentation sense to. Like Billie is a more talented singer and all but Finneas is still an amazing singer and does so much for Billie. For that one there both equally talented and I feel like they bring out the best in each other.
Exactly what I was going to say as well. Without Finneas, I'm unsure if we would have ever even known who Billie was. And for her to constantly go on tour and on shows and bash men, especially as she says "all white men" is hella disrespectful to her brother. She owes him just about everything she has in life.
Noah Cyrus has a pretty discography. It’s not for everyone but still it’s very impressive. It’s kinda sad how she isn’t recognised as an artist. Her songs are mostly sad songs and I feel like she always sings them with lots of emotion, I really feel it when I listen to her songs
Britney's "Everytime" is beautiful. It was the song that got me to give more of her music a chance. It's so simple and considering all that's she's gone through the lyrics are just heartbreaking.
It's beautiful to me after the fact. I agree with it being a bit sleepy and I didn't appreciate it at the time. I chose Jaime Lynn because I like country music and it was much catchier. Like Joel, I like more up-tempo songs.
And it takes talent to sing in the baby voice Britney was forced to sing in. Britney is, as you stated, the winner. That voice is very difficult to sing live when it's not your natural voice and Britney nails it...
I chose Jamie Lynn based on the song choice only. Because in probably every other song and life situation, Brittany wins. My favorite song of hers is Toxic which is more in her actual voice.
I love Noah Cyrus's song July. The only one I know lol, but it's great, and very vulnerable lyrics. I'm usually not that into chill songs or care much about lyrics necessarily, but this one catches my attention. Her voice is very similar to Miley, can definitely tell they're related. She seems to have a different vibe though.
i honestly think Noah’s voice, in SOME songs, are actually better than Miley’s. i’ve been listening to her music more and more lately. definitely could recommend a few if you’d like!
I believe the reason Miley went full on "leaning into sexiness" has a very calculated logic- she saw what Disney did to Brittany Spears. Disney also wanted her to stay the sweet innocent little girl- even with all Spears' sexy songs, they still made her hold a "little girl" persona. Miley went as far as she could to make sure Disney would disown her forever. I really can't blame her.
She has repeatedly said her inspo in regards to career path/role model is Madonna who’s pretty much always brought the shock factor which is what miley also attempts to convey
@@jamie9726Tho in that video, she's not leaning toward sxiness, she's making the Hemsworth brothers workout routine... Basically showing Liam she can do it better than he can 🤷🏻♀️
Andy Gibb, what a voice. He was a teenager heartthrob in 70s (alongside David Cassidy and Leif Garrett and many others. Teen music was very good back then). So sad he passed away so young 😢 btw his songs were written and produced by Barry so, it's a win win situation there 😅
Okay in Traces defense, he started Metro Station with Mason Musso. If that name sounds vaguely familiar it's because that's Mitchel Musso's brother and he met Trace on the set of Hannah Montana. Also put out stuff under Ashland High when Metro Station was on hiatus, had a really The Ready Set type vibe to it that you can kind of hear in parts of the one that's played for him. I'm not saying he's a great artist or anything but the story behind Metro Station is just a kinda cool story imo.
I've never heard of Noah Cyrus, and can I just say I'm in love with that song! Reminds me of a dark Kate Bush, the song itself is so melodic and emotional, gonna be replayed for many many times. Thanks for this! 🧡
The thing about the Andy Gibb song is that it features the Bee Gees on (very loud) background vocals, so it's hard to judge. In any case, my favourite Bee Gee voice is Robin's. The pain when he sings songs like "I Started a Joke" or "I've Gotta Get a Message to You" is gloriously heartbreaking.
@@damhnaitcockburn2970 He did produce them all, and he wrote some (occasionally alongside Robin and Maurice), especially on Andy's third album, but the rest was mostly written by Andy (or at least officially), sometimes alongside Barry.
Yep, Barry was very close to Andy and wanted him to succeed. So sad Andy OD. Drugs got the best of him. I don’t think he had the confidence to go alone and it was too late when his brothers were able to help. 🙏💕🙏💕
Fun fact: Some kpop idols do train on a treadmill as well and sing their heart out while doing it. Having stamina while dancing and singing is important I guess it does really help in figuring out how to control the voice and breathing while moving like crazy.
Also i don't remember who but i think it was kpop star that trained singing while having balls thrown on stomach (she was laying down on back) and wasnt supposed to have any changes to her voice during impact😮😮
Noah Cyrus's most recent album I actually really enjoyed, more so than Miley's. The folk/country direction suited Noah's voice very well, the production was full, and there are some really great highlights.
I’m not really into folk/country genre. It’s not my cup of tea. But that album was done so well I really enjoyed it. I would definitely go with Noah Cyrus.
"My side of the bed" is my fav from that album but I love the others too and has never skipped any song from that album. I love all the songs she makes, and her ep the end of everything is my fav😭.
Joel always admires great performers/dancers like MJ- I’d love to see Joel attempt that level of awesome moves if he ever goes on tour, although I think I can imagine how that would go after the iconic dances vid 😂
Am I the only one who's in love with Solange's music? Hers is one of the few albums that I've been listening to for years and I never get tired of it. I'm surprised she gets so little credit here, she's an amazing musician!
As far as I can remember, my sister also loved Solange. That’s the only reason I know about her (I don’t really listen to these genres at all, but I like watching and learning); you’re not alone!
i love joel because he's so real. i dont know how to explain it. like, he does not comment on solely music - he notices normal stuff, like miley's teeth, and it makes him so real? it just makes him a person?😭
I'm a bit sensitive about my teeth. I always notice who has lovely teeth and I agree with Joel. When telling a person's attractiveness, I look at their eyes and their smile.
No way to choose between MJ and Janet!! They both amazing, even Michael admits this on interviews. They are equally amazing, reason JANET still rocks her concerts and maintains her fan base.
I much prefer Janet as a person but in terms of talent, there is a big gulf between Janet and Michael. I dislike Michael but the man had an insane talent.
I love Janet Jackson and she's one of my favorite female singers (not based on solely on singing, but also song choice) ever, I've loved her since Control. Anyway, as much as I love, love, love Janet.....I'd still choose Michael. Janet still rocks her concerts because she's alive. If Michael didn't have his medical issues, I think he'd still be putting out fire music. But I agree with those that are disgusted by the claims against him, but this is about singing.
I love both of them so much.. while I probably chose Michael, mostly because he’s a person I’ve heavily studied and researched as well as been drawn to more musically, Janet is a literal icon.
Great video 😊 your reaction to Ashlee and Jessica being sisters was the best, the sheer surprise and laughter was hilarious! 🤣 I feel like Trace Cyrus got done dirty though, your researcher should’ve gone with Metro Station Shake It instead cause it’s such a BOP! 💃🏻
You should definitely check his music! I'm not the biggest fan, but he definitely has a lot of good songs!! And actually, you might have already heard him if you saw Pixar's Turning Red (he was on the boy band)!
If you do another video with this premise in the future I recommend including the sibling pair of Taka, the front man of One Ok Rock and Hiro, the front man of My First Story. They have the same vocal training and their accents when singing in English are also p much the same but the genres they perform are slightly different so how they employ their technical skill differs a lot and I think it’d be really interesting to see someone’s POV on it who isn’t already familiar with one of their works.
Thank you for giving recognition to Bruno Mars! He is probably one of the most underrated singers who is actually really great. And yes, Finneas does help Billie so much, he is most of the reason she is what she is today, this man is so so underapprecated
@@pisethrithypong4079 it's not true, i am from east europe and everyone know Bruno Mars and everyone appreciate him very much so idk how it is in your country, but here everyone knows Bruno is one of best singers of all time
Andy Gibb died due to a heart condition that was attributed to years of drug use throughout the late 70s and early 80s. He was 30 when he died in 1988. Also should note Barry Gibb wrote most of Andy Gibbs songs including Shadow Dancing
I went through both a Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson Phase. So much great music from both. I have to agree, that Bruno Mars is one of those artist who will be considered legendary in the future. I also think The Weeknd will reach that status as well.
i think roomie chose the wrong song from janet jackson's discography. I would've liked to see something like Rhythm nation or Love can never do without you
@@acethemain7776 Rhythm Nation would be great in comparison to this song of MJ's. I'd still choose MJ but I love both of them so much. I loved Scream with both of them.
@@janejones7638 rhythm nation wouldn’t match the vibe against MJ’s song. The song they picked for Janet in the video was more similar sounding. I can’t think of a MJ video that follows the format of Rhythm Nation where it’s just uniform dancing from beginning to end.
I didn't know about some of those siblings, really enjoyed this video 😊 What a treat, Joel singing parts of those songs! 🙂 I hope Bruno Mars won't quit touring before I get to see him live somewhere 😅
ive never listened to Finneas and i really love billies music but I completely understand and agree with your decision to choose him over her. Being talented has so many factors and i think he has so much talent that get overshadowed .
Billie has admitted in interviews that much of her success is due to her brother's help, writing songs with her, helping with the music (not just lyrics), and undivided support.
Since I was a teen in the 80s, I can still remember the time before Thriller and the video, when Michael Jackson really was the King of Pop. Even when I didn't listen to his music, really.
Billie and her brother are both equally deeply singers but also sprinkle in some preppy songs here and there. Equal talent to me! Also, Joel is looking more and more like Dylan and Cole Sprouse😂
I was thinking, when they had both Trace and Noah with Miley, that they could have added at least Jermaine (I mainly only know of Dynamite). Rebi did have that one song; Centipede, I believe? I think LaToya had some songs, but I'm not familiar with any of them.
Yes, the lyrics are very deep. So many times the lyrics aren't what matters but the beat and other parts of the musical composition. In this competition, I'd actually choose Jamie Lynn but only because I enjoy her song better. But if they'd chose almost any other popular song of Britany's, I'd chose her. Now that I know what Britany went through, I believe the song would be a major hit.
Why all the $ex appeal in modern music? Its becoming quite annoying, and is a testimony to the fact, that some music is becoming so generic that records can't get people to listen for the musics sake, but need to spice it up in artificial way. Music videos used to be support to the music and now it's almost reverse, more to distraction and just to fill some pockets. Sad😢
Yes, THANK YOU! Definitely annoying. Honestly disgusts me a little. 😅 It really is distracting, and the video feels like it’s about that and not about the actual song topic. And I might be old-fashioned, but I was muttering “Put on some clothes!” 😅😒
I love Noel, but Liam has (had) one of the most unique, and best, voices of the 1990s, Noel is and was always a bit more technical but honestly boring and generic. Without liams voice Oasis would never gotten so big. Liams voice is, to me at least, up there with Kurt Cobains.
Heath Ledger and Andy Gibb looked a lot alike. Both of their careers were exploding when drug abuse ultimately led to their deaths at such a young age. Andy had just celebrated his 30th birthday five days before he passed away and Heath died three months before he turned 29. So sad.
Happy to see you being yourself. Putting on a persona can be tiring, that's why actors fall into depression as was the case with Jim Carrey. Just be you :)
Hey, Joel! I’ve just started watching your videos after seeing you featured in other RU-vid content. I saw the song you made with Felix and Dave, and your singing was simply perfect, lol. Recently I checked you out on Spotify and I’ve had your song “It Kills Me” stuck in my head haha. Super catchy and of really good quality. Thanks for doing what you do, it’s inspiring and entertaining :D
I’m one of them who’s team Noah Cyrus all day.. she is absolutely breathtaking when she sings, and her songs are beautiful 🖤 It annoys me how many people don’t know she exist
@@Nephew_grouse I totally get that 😂😂 I am one of the chosen rock people. I have daughters however, and they.. very fkn rarely… Show me a good tune. Her song July won my heart
If you saw Turning Red, the Pixar movie, then you might have already heard him!! He was part of 4*TOWN! And if you liked that song, don't hesitate to check some of his other songs, they are all well written!
Not siblings, but the real test is choosing between Tim and Jeff Buckley. Talk about a father and a son that were both incredible singers and exceptional songwriters. Both gone far too soon, as well.
Dude, u might like Andy Gibbs’ song, but his brother Barry’s voice & singing capabilities were technically superior. All Gibbs bros could sing, it’s the way they harmonized effortlessly that made them great.
Awesome video!! I wonder about how the siblings treat each other -- are they supportive of each other or do they feel envious of their siblings success? Thanks for making my Saturday so much better😊👍🎵
on tour Nick & Joe sing both those songs together & fans have even called jealous joes song now 😂😂 It's real fun hearing the difference they bring for the group especially with performances of their solo projects
Joel - please go research ALL of the songs the Bee Gees (especially Barry) wrote not just for themselves, but for Andy and others. Incredible volume of hits. Also, Andy died from a drug overdose way to young - partly due to getting into a bad group in the industry and also heartbreak from his lost relationship with Victoria Principal.
Ashlee Simpson also had an MTV reality show to launch her career. I really liked her at the time. She wasn't as dumb as Jessica. It's a pity how the lip sync issue really killed her career. She just couldn't recover.
For a Michael and Janet dance comparison, you should watch Scream. They're both amazing in it and there's a dance break where they're exactly synchronized but still with their own style.
It's so funny that Joel HATED Andy Gibb's "Shadow Dancing" in the previous videos, but this time he caught the vibe and called it good. I remember because I was furious lol
The problem with Noah Cyrus is that could hear one of her songs and recognize her voice and be like "Oh is this a new Miley song?", because she just sounds like her sister.
Love YOUR voice. You were right on point today with all your choices. I actually still have the Andy Gibb album that was released with Shadow Dancing. I totally crushed on him as a “tween”.
"Flowers" sounds like someone re-recorded the vocal track of a Fleetwood Mac song or a title rejected from a later ABBA album, but used the original backings. It's groovy with almost no interesting texture.
I’m just wondering how those siblings feel having a more successful famous “star” at home 🤔 Are they happy and supportive? Or jealous and intimidated? Especially when a “star” and them doing the same thing (singing/music/business etc.)
The best singer of the four Gibb Brothers (Bee Gees) was Robin Gibb. “I Started a Joke” and “I’ve gotta get a message to you” as examples. If you ever wanted to compare the Gibb brothers’ voices again
Oh wow... when Finneas came in my heart physically softened and I felt like I was melting listening to his voice. I can't compare Billie and Finneas, because they both have two completely different styles of music that I'm in love with. And they both have such profound depth in their voices and lyricism. But I definitely am drawn to Finneas's style more. Also I am so glad that Noah Cyrus is in this video because I love her music so much and I really think that she deserves more recognition. Heck, I didn't even know she was Miley's sister until this video (although I guess the last name should've given me a hint). Miley and Noah both have beautiful voices, but Noah's style and genre has always felt far more authentic and rich than Miley to me. All of these are just my personal opinions, and I have nothing against the other artist's. I simply have my preferences.
Sadly Andy Gibb died at the young age of 30 due to a heart virus compounded by years of an addiction to drugs. Maurice and Robin Gibb have also passed which makes Barry the sole remaining Gibb brother😢
The last time I checked on Silverchair, I guess they got happy as they weren't nearly the angsty band I loved back in the early 2000s and prior. Not to say that creative evolution isn't great.
All the Jackson siblings are very talented but ofc Michael always stood out and I guess he is actually the best performer of all time across the globe. I cant think of anyone else from around the world who was/is globally that big. I really hope MJ will be remembered even 100 years from now . I only wonder if they will refer to him like we do to Mozart for example. hehe Since Miley grew up and became more mature her music is actually good. I do like her Disney stuff since it has also a lot to do with nostalgia, but the rebellious phase was a big no for me.... idk her sister aint bad but in this case I do prefer Miley. When he said for Everytime that it worked back in the 90s ...Oh Joel...Everytime is a 00s song xD
