Tony T yes , thank you Tony. please everyone clean up after your self . my closest BLM just got shot down here in Perris CA (steele peak) not sure why but people have been really abusing this place 😢.
@@Future-Preps35 Thank You sir, we need more like you! It also helps to bring along a pair of rubber coated gloves to avoid getting cut on glass or sharp metal.
one thing i like to add . when you visit these places please clean youre trash / brass / shells . this will help issuer that we can return . so please clean up befor you leave . if spot otheres mess atleast pick up some of that to . thank you and be safe .
+madsexymanofthenight Oh man I should have mentioned that too. One of the most annoying things when people dump or just don't care. Thanks for the reminder
I'm fortunate, that I live about 10 minutes from a great outdoor range. The range masters are really level headed and don't care what you're doing, provided you're doing it in a safe manner. I carry onsite concealed while there, shoot as fast as I can pull the trigger, etc. Family owned and operated. I'd prefer to be out in the wild, but I'll gladly support the local business if I can't get away. Thanks for another great post my man!
You just told everyone my secret. I ditched the range six years ago, and only use it to requalify on my edc. I even built my own portable bench rest and take several different targets, from paper to steel. Be safe out there. Remember "Leave no Trace" and have fun.
I'm so thankful I live 10 minutes from my gun club outdoor range here in Vegas. my spot is never busy and I have never been checked by a range master. I've seen them cruise by on ATVs.
Hey I live in Vegas too which place is this I'd love to check it out cause I'm a noob and I bought green tip ammo, 150 rounds, that I need to use up lol
+Tuck Tummy it's called "desert sportsman outdoor rifle club". it's $200 a year but worth it if you want a safe clean and uncrowded place to shoot close to home. plus you can get $100 off if you volunteer to clean up once or twice a year.
This is the problem in Texas. It's gun friendly but you have to own property to shoot outside of the range since all of Texas is private land for the most part.
Plenty of "Public" land... that is strictly controlled by the US Federal Govt (like Big Bend), or one of the 125 state parks. In any case, no shooting allowed anywhere. You either have money to get your own land (which you of course never own, because the local Authority will kick you off if you don't pay rent for the rest of your life ), or get fucked. Texas is not nearly as gun-friendly as most people make it out to be.
Great video! 95% of my shooting is done in the Mojave Desert as well. I'd like to reinforce what a few others have mentioned below... PACK OUT WHAT YOU PACK IN!!!!! Countless area's closer to Los Angeles have already been closed down throughout the years which has pushed gun owners further & further out. PLEASE be responsible and do your best to leave the area's cleaner than you left them. Thanks!!
+The Daily Shooter Thanks brother! I know... I've had to educate some of the yahoo's out there in the past, too. Anytime I go to a location that's trashed, me and my buddies will clean it the best we can before we go hot. We also don't want to get hassled if Mr. Ranger decides to pay a visit. My buddies and I invested in steel targets and reusable target stands a few years ago so the only thing left behind is our tire tracks and the faint smell of gun powder and Tannerite.
That's a big advantage about living in the western states, in the Midwest at least where I live there is no place to shoot except ranges often with strict rules unless you own land that you can shoot on. Three seconds between shots, no shot size larger than #6 birdshot for shotguns, no steel targets, paper only on designated target stands is the rule at every range except indoor ones where the tree second rule does not apply. Also there is only two ranges that are private ones that go past 100 yards and the closest is a two hour drive from me so it's not worth the yearly fees, it only goes to three hundred yards and another goes to 500 yards but is farther away and has an even higher annual membership fee.
Im lucky to be a member of a gun club with 15 separate ranges including 10 private bays and a 1000 yrd range. $260 a year open 365 days from sun up to sunddown. Rapide fire, shooting from concealment, shooting while moving, etc... all allowed
That's what I'm doing in 2 months moving to a small countryside in georgia done with chicago life. Leaving behind all my fam. Just me and my wife and my guns.
Nice man. A few buddies and I are headed out to the desert by Ridgecrest Oct 20-23 for a camping/shooting trip. We'll be setting up a dualing tree, clay thrower, prone area and bench rest spot with targets out at 600, 700 and 800 yards! Love it out there.
Just a friendly FYI, please keep those who belong in the indoor ranges please. it takes a special breed who respects the desert and its environment. the issue at hand is all the garbage that is hauled out to the desert to shoot at, destroyed and then left behind, propane tanks, glass, refrigerator's , microwaves, Brass and countless other items. these area then pile up with items that can be easily picked up and hauled out the same way it came in. if you could please cover this in a video, I am positive you have witnessed this at first hand and understand what's being asked, this may insure the future shooting spots for all of us to enjoy. I WOULD HATE TO SEE ALL THESE AREAS CLOSED BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF CLEANING UP AFTER OUR SELVES, California is notorious for this and would love to slow us down. I believe in our 2nd amendment rights. A PROUD U.S VETERAN. please help.. !!!!!!
8thid 12th As a reloader I usually don't mind if people leave their brass behind (there's a special place in hell for people who leave spent aluminum or steel-cased casings behind though)
Arizona has shut down 80,000 acres do to those lazy asses not taking their trash with them and just stupid people being careless. It's so sad now I have to drive 2 hours each way to shoot in the desert.
If you are going to go out to shoot buy steel targets on stands. Make sure in safe direction, Set them up, shoot them up don't leave no trash, go home.
I live in an area where I have a lot of public land around me, I am only 10 miles from my favorite shooting area, the river district even put up a back stop so people have a place to shoot. I am also lucky enough to have several friend who have shooting areas on their land and they allow my family and I to go shooting when ever we want too.you have given some very good information. another place to shoot is on land you can hunt on. just go during the off season and chances are there will not be anyone else around you will have the area to yourself.
When I travel to central California I check in with the local sheriff. Usually 1/2 mile from the road towards the mountains. A nice hike to recon the unpopulated area. Don't leave a mess
I also love in Kalifornia and used to have very good luck finding places to shoot even Border Patrol was ALWAYS way cool with my son and I shooting. But times have changed (Border Patrol is still way cool) so I truly appreciate this video/advice and will use it. Thank you!!!
You know, I think I'll go back to the beginning of the daily shooter episodes and watch from the 1st video forward....Lets begin, after this one first. Thumbs up the whole way.
Ironic. Cant buy guns and ammo in California, but you can shoot to your heart's desire on BLM land. In Florida, you can get what you want with very little restrictions, but there is no shooting allowed on public land.
@@rmac2786 there are actually plenty of guns on the roster that dont have either of those bcus most of them are old and outdated so those features didnt really exist yet.. dont know the whole roster by heart but i actually only know 2 guns with either of those while none of mine do
@@DannyPorsche He was only mentioning the fact that we have a handgun roster and can't buy anything new since 2013, plus we now will have to background everytime we buy ammo. He's right, it stinks.
I'm incredibly grateful that 15-20 minutes from where I live is a massive 1,100 acre outdoor shooting facility, complete with a 1,000 yard high power range (.50BMG is the biggest you're allowed), SWAT training facility (can be used when SWAT isn't training), and a beautiful shotgun range with 2 trap, 1 skeet, and 1 5-stand. Had 50 yard pistol and interactive plinking ranges, and a general purpose 450 yard range with about 20 bays. Also has some other awesome stuff like a mock up wild West main street for practicing your cowboy trick shooting with revolvers and lever actions, as well as a primitive black powder and archery range. Totally run by volunteers such as myself, which keeps guest fees a low $10 for the whole day, or $50 ($75 couples) yearly memberships. I lived in Chiraq (Chicago, for the uninitiated) for 30 miserable years where even owning a gun was extremely restricted, and then you only had shitty indoor ranges. When I finally moved out here a couple years ago, it felt like I finally moved to America for the first time. I went to get a CPL (concealed pistol license), and the cops smiled and praised me for wanting to take on the responsibility of concealed carry. They told me about that glorious range, and let me know that in this town, citizens are encouraged to own and train with their guns, because the police can't be everywhere, and they genuinely wish for this town to be safe and peaceful (and it really is). I'm not ashamed to say I almost cried, as it was such a welcoming and all-American attitude, something I thought had been lost to the 1950s and only existed in stories my dad told me about before people started demonizing firearm ownership. So like I said, I'm truly grateful for the freedom I have out here, and I really hope y'all in California someday taste liberty for the first time, too.
I'm glad the range I go to doesn't care about rapid fire. Putting a limitation like shooting every two seconds is not going to allow someone to train for a actual self defense situation.
I'm in Kern County also new gun owner & want to get some practice in but the ranges here either suck or too expensive any tips on where to take the family out for a day of shooting?
@@ivanprado8138 Download onx maps and find anywhere that's BLM land and is also safe to shoot (no houses, animals, or roads nearby). I recommend getting a range finder of some sort so you can get a proper zero on your gun assuming it's a rifle.
I do most of my shooting in the national forest I've talk to game warden every time I go out there and it seems to be legal. I can't afford to Pat to go to the range it cost me $80 + to go and take my whole family. thanks for video and info
Interesting bro! I was out on propane deliveries late last week...I came upon a property that was obviously a shooting range...dude had 8×10 sheets of plywood on stands at what looked like was 1,2,3,4,5, and 800 yards. I do plan to stop and introduce myself. Most shooters are good people and will welcome the company. Keep in mind how special this is because this land was flat...in the rolling hills and hollers of KY.
Thanks for the tip, I moved to Henderson NV from Jersey the same time you did, and am looking to hit the desert also. I’ll look into it. Keep up the good work.
Minnesotan here, I grew up only shooting at a local gravel pit. The same pit is now posted no trespassing, but all you have to do is call the local PD and say-"I'm going to sight in my rifle." They say, "okay, just pick up your brass and any soda (pop, for fellow Minnesotans) cans. Clean up after yourself, and you're fine." Most of our camping these days is in state forest lands where it's kind of an honor system. Public land, use it, love it, and be a good steward and we're all good.
Brother in-law is a firefighter with forest service and he usually hooks me up with some spots in the middle of nowhere in the desert. Just make sure you clean up after yourselves.
i do go at angeles firing range( outdoor range ) its a very nice place in los angeles.but sometimes it can go pricey and to many rifle and ammo restriction! good video man. thank'z
Great video and excellent suggestions. Haven't gone to a public range in years since moving to ID. Plenty of open BLM land to shoot on and I'm fortunate enough to live in a county where we can legally shoot on our own property as long as we're doing it safely.
the west is nice, I used to live in California there's a old quarry on the north side of new melones that I used to go to and a great swimming hole if you can find it
One lesson learned from my experience. Read all of those posted signs (the sticks that say no fire/atv/off-road) in the immediate area of where you are shooting. I pulled up to a spot and read the stick in front of me and it didn't say anything about no shooting but the one to the left and the other to the right about 30 feet each away did. The BLM ranger politely pointed that out and told us to pack it up...it was a buzz kill to a great day of shooting but it could have gone way worse.
The alarm goes off while using a key is actually a good feature. If a family member finds the key and they open t!he safe while I am busy - they can't turn the alarm off. I will know. Next time they will know about the alarm and will not touch it. Great feature.
When I was in Calif. (in the old days) we just went into the desert. Arizona was the same. Moved up to Washington (kitsap county) and there isn't any place we can go, without going to a club.....
Oof, buddy, you moved to the wrong side of the mountain range. I'm gonna do you a solid, and point you to where I shoot. It's a bit of a hike from your area, but OMFG, it's one of the best facilities I've ever seen! 1,100 acres of liberty! Might even be enough to make you want to move out to Eastern Washington. $10 for the whole day (9am-3pm) for guests, or $50/year ($75 for couples) membership. Open to the public Wed, Sat, and Sun. Public Rose-Iris range goes out to 450 yards (steel at 200, 250, 300, 350, 400, and 450). www.tcsa.info/ You're welcome.
Great Advice for the Cali and western people. I am fortunate I have my own range. At the ranges here in my area fees are $1.00 - $2.00 for member. Membership is $60.00 a year.
There is a BLM Ranger Station in Cantil, California. This is at the corner of Jawbone Canyon road and State Highway 14, 21 miles north of Mojave. Go in and talk to them, they're friendly and helpful where to shoot. You'll share the area with off road vehicles, just be safe. (and leave no trash). Do not shoot in Red Rock Canyon State Park.
great place in Cochella near Palm Springs. Just off the 10fwy. It's on BLM and the area is huge!. Many people go to Hodge rd off the 15 fwy near Barstow. I still like Lytle Creek Firing Line off the 15 fwy north of Fontana. They do have rules but you can rapid fire, bring your own targets including metal. They have their own metal targets at 100,200,300 yards if you don't want to put up yours. $20 for the day. Tables and cover from the sun.
I'm a new gun owner and have been going to the range the past couple of weeks, but living in los Angeles I was already thinking where can I go to shoot in the outdoors, this video definitely helped me out, thanks! btw that's a bad ass shirt
Ever think about setting up a range day meet and greet with guys who live in southern California. I bet it would be fun. I bet guys have some cool guns for show and tell.
Small Correction: Local laws don’t apply on BLM or federal laws. The federal land will have to implement federal restrictions that mirror the local laws.
Just a heads up incase it hasn't been brought up... I think it's pink or purple spray paint on fence posts signify private land in place of No Trespassing signs.
I suddenly feel the need to find some serious deals on bulk ammo. I'm telling you man, my wife is going to hunt you down. I know, I'll just tell her I saw it on Yeager's channel. Lol
I know this is an old vid, but i have come to find out you can always ask the R.O. on "rate of fire" allowed. Ive usually been told "if we can tell you are generally putting sights back on target before follow up shots" its considered acceptable. Of course depending on the range you choose.
All National Forests allow recreational shooting as long as it's not particularly prohibited. Ours has areas with covered ranges. Apparently at others you are allowed to shoot as long as it's safe. I just watched a video with the national park service with guidelines for doing this. RU-vid it.
+The Daily Shooter I live just outside of Mojave in Lancaster and when I called the BLM they said that Jawbone Canyon was the closest shooting spot. I would love to find out where in Mojave that I can go to shoot.
@@anthonygutierrez7190 Its not about actually being Mexican. Most people who fly the Mexican flag in another country above our flag are the type who spray paint on your walls around your house, and the rocks in the desert. Those are also the ones who have no trigger discipline and will shoot in your direction with no regard. Those are not the type of people we need representing us, or being around my family.
Not much in my area to do any shooting. I just checked out a new range over the weekend. They don't allow rifle calibers though which is what I have the most of. You can shoot .223 but it has to be their ammo and it's pricey. I'll have to see if I can get this info in my area. Thanks for sharing.
i live in Ca in the high desert. no you cant shoot most places there. shotgun only in most areas. but, stop by ur local ranger station and $5 will get you a map of shooting areas.
Unfortunately in Northern Central California, all the target shooting locations were closed/stopped by the BLM the last I checked a few months ago. if any one knows differently please let me know. I'm in the bay area and everything that was possible was a 3 hour drive.
In Finland, until a couple of years ago, you could shoot whatever wherever you want as long as it was 1) outside cities and municipal districts 2) you shot in a safe fashion 3) you had the land owner's permission. Now the law is basically the same but it's very vaque whether the land owner has to be actually overseeing the shooting. Waiting for the first victims of the newly worded law. Until then - I rented my shooting area for shooting purposes for 1€ perpetually and made a legal document of it so I'm covered.
There are a lot of people that ride their dirt bikes there at the entrance but it is a legal to ride their bikes there so I best stay away from them and the lower part is shotgun only the farther you go in the more valleys there are.
