strange that it says Canada sealed it when Ovi got injured. Canada never trailed at any point in the tournament and was never really challenged. It was easily the most talented team Canada in the history of the tournament.
Exactly plus one is a center and one is a wing. Since when do wings and centers get compared? I played LW my whole life have nothing in common with a center and always hated the center breaking out on my side right next to me haha.

In a normal year, especially back then... when both Euros and Yanks were entering NHL later... Canada is missing a fair number of top juniors , due to NHL cradle robbing... But 2005 was THE PERFECT STORM... Fantastic bumper crop for Canuck juniors, combined with NHL Players Strike = 2005 TC Dream Team and total destruction of Team Russia... Canada actually outscored the opposition something like 47-11 in that tourney (that's from memory)... and Canada had Sweden, Finland, Slovakia and Germany in their pool... But they were all ... lambs to the slaughter...LAMBS TO THE SLAUGHTER! Canada 8 Finland 1... Canada 8 Sweden 1 ...Canada 2 men short vs Swedes and Mike Richards almost scores on a breakaway?!? ... OUCH!
I feel like Crosby earned his C when he was the youngest captain to ever win the stanley cup. When Ovi makes it past the third round maybe then you can flip it around.
Ovechkin ain't that guy to give big speeches to the team. He shows it on the ice and how he plays. Ovechkin been playing with the Capitals for 7 seasons and has been the best player on the club. He definitively deserves to wear it. Are you gonna bash other Captains like Nash, Koivu (min) and Doan because they can't lead their team to the playoffs and the Stanley Cup final? seriously? you think Datsyuk is overrated? he's an incredibly gifted player on both ends of the ice, has magic and does things that no other player in the NHL can do. You talk about him not scoring enough goals? that's because he sets other people up plenty of times and makes unselfish playes. He is one of the main reasons the red wings have been soo good for the longest time. He's a team player unlike a lot of those "goal scorers" your talking about.

@RageGamingnf Nah man. Take it into perspective to what's going on with him. He's been absolutely dominent in the NHL before, in almost every game. He's been in the top 10 in goals many many times. He just signed a million year contract for a billion dollars, and this is how he plays? I may have been over the top to say that he's a no one in the league right now, but compared to what he has done, this year is a total flop for him.
Score was 2-1 after Ist period.... BUT GAME WAS NEVER CLOSE...In all honesty that 6-1 final score flattered the Russians, could have been 10-1 ... I remember Sid was on the top line with Bergeron and Perry... But Crosby , who was only 17, at the time, wasn't close to being Canada's best player... In all honesty, he wasn't even in the top 4...not in that game, that's for sure...Bergeron, Carter, Phaneuf and Getzlaf were all better, and that's just for starters... ... Crosby actually wound up in Sutter's doghouse for a bit, in the 2nd period... might have been in the first period, I forget... But I do recall Sid over stayed a shift, then coughed up the puck in a bad spot to a Russian, playing hot dog... Sutter never missed anything... and Crosby's butt was stapled to the bench for the next shift... As if to say, 'that stuff may fly in Rimouski my boy... But NOT on Team Canada, in a gold medal game vs Russia'...Crosby, to his credit, never sulked... He assisted on Bergeron's goal, if memory serves... plus was more responsible defensively after that... If Crosby doesn't play... Canada still wins this game EASILY... If Ovi doesn't get hurt... Canada still wins EASILY... if you think this game came down to the 'Crosby vs Ovi show'... You missed a total destruction of Russia by The... 'THE'... TEAM CANADA DREAM TEAM...
Haha yeah it's so annoying. At least there are a lot of young centers in the game right now. Those centers can be compared to him like Giroux Stamkos etc. I hate the C LW comparison since day 1 when the NHL media wanted to start their own rivalry. AND LAST TIME I CHECKED a player who can kill penalty's,score goals, is a better playmaker than stamkos, led the league in takeaways, and has the best hands in the league is very valuable in the NHL. Ah it was Patrice Bergeron that leveled Ovechicken and knocked him out. No matter, Ovechkin didn't do a thing up to that point anyway as Canada was already ahead 5-1.
+77dris It wasn't that big of a hit that would hurt a healthy hockey player let along Ovechkin. Ovechkin entered the game with injured shoulder. He was drilled head first into the boards by Curtis Murphy in the RSL game prior WJC, and injured it more in the semis against US.
The full game is on RU-vid. Ovi was pounded into the boards every time he came on the ice. Because of the NHL strike that year, Canada had a lot of 19 year olds that were playing in the NHL. Ovi played that game but he was really covered. Check out the game, it was a dandy. Once Ovi got older and filled out, he could take hits better and dish it out as well.

@kiprusoff34rocks thats one of the biggest games he will ever play in his life and he won't get another chance to play it again. crosby cries when people throw hats on the ice when someone on the other team gets a hat trick. also he was voted by all the other nhl players as the biggest cry baby in the league.
@SuperVancouverBC I seriously hope you're kidding. Ovi is nowhere in the league today. How many goals does he have? How many points? He's nothing so far.
Because Crosby is not defensively sound like those other players. Do you even watch Hockey? Datsyuk hand's are by far the best in the league. And Datsyuk has never been a goal scorer, he has always been the guy to feed the puck to other players. Stams is also a terrible defensive player. A trophy Crosby and Stamkos will never win is the Selke, a trophy Datsyuk has won three times in a row. And plenty of the goals the Redwings score, were most of the time setup by Datsyuk in one way or the other.
