Great game, and always a memorable experience for all involving players even if you don't score much points compared to the winner. Glad you streamed this!

This is my favorite game! I enjoy getting creative with negotiations

Fantastic Game! Sadly this format isn't the best showcase for it. Heavy Cardboard is great for games where it is very clearly visually indicated where people are and what they are doing. Sidereal is kinda the opposite of that. But thank you for putting it on, thank you for streaming it for the masses, and seriously, try it out for yourself if you haven't. It's a blast

I think it’s good enough to understand how this game flows and works. It’s not important to be able to understand each player’s moves etc. It would also be impossible. As far as gameplay videos go, this is as good as it gets

My worst one was with 1775: Rebellion where I interpreted 'move an army' as move one cube instead of 'move one group of cubes' for the first couple of games, and wondered why there was so little action in the game.

Such an amazing game. Top 10 for me as well. The true complexity of the game isn't in the mechanisms. It's in the dealmaking, how you can manipulate people to your advantage, what sorts of deals are really beneficial, and the understanding of the changing value of resources throughout the game.

I wish there would be a game that does what this does with a little less complexity. The very different races are creating quite a bit of a hurdle and I never quite liked how technologies work

Have you played Zoo Vadie or Bohnanza? It has negotiation in a simpler package.

Imagine giving a boardgame a title with not one but two words that are way outside of most people’s vocabulary.

Sidereal - of, relating to, or expressed in relation to stars or constellations. (like maybe Cosmic) Confluence - a coming or flowing together, meeting, or gathering at one point. (maybe an Encounter)

This is perhaps the most internally polarizing game I've ever played. For design (mechanics, uniqueness, flow) I rate it quite highly - an 8/10. For how much I want to play it - I hate it; it's a 2/10.

It's always weird to watch folks play Sidereal when they don't really understand. It's sad, because I thought it was a great game until I played with folks that understood it.

What do you mean? You like it less once you understand it?

@@Manaswap Yeah, once you understand the game almost all of the interesting features dissolve into rent-seeking. Take the "Donations" features, once you understand the game you just tack "and I trade you all of my donations and you give them right back" to another trade and the character that has to have other people run their engines can just tack "and you run my engine with the cubes I provide and return the outputs next turn" onto a trade. You'd say "but why would the trading partner do it for free?" and once you've played the game enough you realize that the best way to increase your score is to ensure that as many converters run as possible because the more cubes in the economy, the more profit for everyone and if you are willing to launder donations for free, you'll be first on most folks' trading lists. I don't think it is a bad game, but it is one of the rare games that reduces in complexity and scope the more you play it.

@@Manaswap It’s a game that is all about deal making, and 99.9% of deals will benefit one player more than another. If all the players know all factions really well it becomes harder to make deals that benefit you the most. Now imagine being someone who doesn’t know the game that well in a game where all the other players do. I don’t know who’ll win, but know for a fact who’s coming last.

@@stevewithington1787 I've seen plenty of games where of the 6 or so players at the table only 2 are really playing the game, by the end of turn 2 all the rest of the players have essentially fallen into the orbits of the 2 sharks and are basically handing their shark all their resources each turn in exchange for enough to run all their converters and a handful of promises for later.
