I have two pairs of Sidi Rex black/black - one Air, and one non-Air. I wear them on track and for multi-day country rides and they are extremely comfortable. I've crashed in them twice (once on track and once on the street) and they offer amazing protection. Highly recommended.
I ride mostly during summertime, between 20-35c, never below 15-degree C. But I'm afraid Air's perforation will trap dirt and the non-air is also 100$ cheaper. Did you feel the air version is that much cooler? Thank you
In Nike sneakers I wear a US size 10 (EU 44), and I wear a EU 44 in all of my boots. SIDI fits the most snug with THE narrowest toe box area. While Alpinestars (Supertech R’s) true to size as do the Dainese, and have a bit more room in the toe area. TDX fits the most loosely, and some of their boots I can wear a EU I 43 or EU44.
Depends really as comfortability in subjective. Both are amazing boots. Just the Alpinestars has that inner bootie, where the SIDI doesn’t. Both are great, I’d order both and try them on with your suit (or whatever you’ll wear them with) and pick based on comfort and looks you like.
The soft neoprene below the shin guard is ridiculous. A foot peg will slice through that without issue. I’ve had this type of thing happen but successfully avoided my foot being amputated by wearing the best boots, which are Security Evos…
I think it depends on a few factors. But for street riding and wearing with jeans, I would say it’s between the SIDI Rex Air and Dainese Axial D1 Air. The factors impacting your choice are: Do you want to look like you are wearing race boots? Do you want to wear something that is more hidden? Which brand fits your foot the best? Because either boot is great, both look good with jeans, and both are easy to get on.
They are very different boots. The Mag-1 doesn’t have the external support like the Rex, it has two carbon fiber pieces it uses for support and protection that is internal. With the Mag-1 one, your feet and calves feel (and are) closer to the bike. You can feel the connection to the bike more. The Rex you lock in and grip the bike perfect, just the feel is not as nuanced. Think of it as a skateboarding sneaker that is vulcanized sole versus a cup sole. Cup sole lets you jump off stairs and take the impact better. Vulcanized soles you can feel the imperfections better. Sorry, it’s hard for me to eloquently explain.
