I don't want to be that "NUH UH" guy, but I anytime anyone claims a deck is the hardest deck in HS history, I immediately go back to the test subject vivid boar combo back in boomsday era. Watching people OTK from an empty board through potentially SEVERAL voidlords to deal hundreds of face damage with a stonetusk boar, spending almost 10 full hands of cards in the turn.
@ClarkHellscream
@ClarkHellscream 10 месяцев назад
Honestly man, that deck is a great example. Topsy Turvy Priest was difficult because you had to keep in mind how many cards were available in your Test Subject. However, a deck like that, it's important to understand how to order your combo. Where Naga Mage's difficult comes in is how quickly your gameplan can change depending on what your opponent does/what you discover, as well as utilizing your Spitelash Siren turns to the best possible value. Almost zero games play out the same because of the Discovers, and I love the complexity Naga Mage has.

@@ClarkHellscream I definitely see your points, and agree that they are played fundamentally differently, making their decision points and turns leading up to combos quite different. I think I remember topsy running only shadow visions as its only 'discover' effect, which also really made your resources tight
@bonmotze
@bonmotze 10 месяцев назад
Yeah, Test Subject Boar Priest was on a whole other level. Naga Mage is surely one of the most difficult decks today, but compared to some decks Rogues and Priests had in the past it almost feels like a beginner deck 😂

@@bonmotzenah I disagree, been playing since 2015 and have hit 14 legend, and consistently high legend. I only play complex combo decks because their the most fun, and I’m not sure I played any other deck with a higher learning curve. The ridiculous amount of decisions you constantly make every turn far surpass any other. And the apm required for some combo’s are time you have to just go off instinct and prior planning on your opponents turn. I learn decks quick and it took 50+ games at around a 47% winrate, for me to even understand it enough to start climbing.

I used to play miracle rogue a while ago and ended up with a 50% winrate so I thought I could try this deck. I was horribly wrong, I tried 4 games with this deck and I couldn't even see how to win, much less actually come close to winning lol.

I have played a lot of naga mage since it first arrived and I can't say that I see how this is currently good enough tbh. Too dependant on what you discover in the face of opponents whose cards are just more consistently fast and powerful.

I just got legend with Sif Mage won 8 games in a row and I can say that even after the nerfs it still delivers a punch,reverbarations clutches soo much against rogues,DK,Hunters. It took me few games to learn how to play but it isnt hard

What is your advice for the Control Matchup? I am this kind of guy who gets a wide board with siren, gets cleared and is losing. Is it just a bad matchup or are there any tricks to it?
@Jellypeño6
@Jellypeño6 10 месяцев назад
against control matchups in general you want to be able to control the tempo of the game. you want ur opponent to respond to your plays. with this deck you want to play your nagas while still keeping cards as backup. if you go all in just to get brawled you will most likely lose

With all due respect, I like control and midrange decks. I played it all this expansion: DK, Warrior, Warlock, Priest, even attempted Paladin. In all of those decks I need early game to stop mech rogues and I also need double Dirty Rat and double Speaker Stomper to even stand a chance against the OTK decks. Every single match I lost to a mage or shaman, it was literally from full health. None of those matches they dealt cheap damage over the game and finished me off, and I can prove it! I can get in discord and send you all my match history from my deck tracker. The game that proved me something was terribly terribly wrong was when I was playing Blood DK, I managed to get 62 health, I was full health and it didn't matter: the shaman did its combo on me, it dealt 71 damage and still had 3 mana leftover and 4 cards in hand. Where was the setup? Nowhere. I didn't have a speaker stomper when he played Lightning Reflexes, he ignored my board and exploded my face. How is this fun? How is it fun playing the game thinking "do they have the thing to kill me from full yet?". I'm totally okay with OTK decks if you have something you can do to either get out of range or disrupt it consistently. I'm even okay with decks that deal 30 damage from hand, but if you're dealing infinite damage or over 70 damage without needing to setup anything that can be disrupted, that IS a problem. OTK decks like this polarize the meta in a way that you either OTK them more consistently or you play a much faster deck to outpace OTK decks. About hunter: I have no issue with it because you can counterplay it. You can be at full health, you can put taunts between you and their King Krushes, you can outvalue and outresource them, you can get ahead on board and be in control of the game to not allow them those big scams. Against a Hunter it's frustrating but I'm playing the game, I'm not just waiting to see if they have in hand the thing to kill me from 35 health and 30 armor in a single turn. So I maintain what I said: Shaman OTK and Sif OTK should not be allowed to exist in their current form.
@matheusmterra
@matheusmterra 10 месяцев назад
Just getting ahead of the curve: "BuT yOu CaN oUtPlAy ShAmAn, you just play SoPeAkEr StOmPeR", that's not counterplay. That's a tech card. If the ONLY counterplay to not die from full is having a tech card, that's not fun or good design. Going again to Hunter, what's the tech card you need to slot in your deck, draw and play before their big plays to not die? There is none. You have a ton of options for that and none of them require a tech card. Like I said, against a Hunter it's frustrating because the deck is strong but you ARE playing the game.

Sorry but you need brains to pull of OTK deck so its still balance. You can see the stats that mage and otk shaman is at 47% winrate because not all players can pilot it very well. Whereas control and midrange. You can just drop a card and win.
@matheusmterra
@matheusmterra 10 месяцев назад
@@vernonjetdevera4987 brains being balance is only a fair argument for lower ranks. As soon as you reach diamond, it doesn't matter, people WILL know how to pilot these decks. Balancing on skill level is not good balance. Once again, it warps the meta around these decks in a very unhealthy way. Every slower deck now has 26 slots (35 if using Renethal), because you need double Dirty Rats and double Speaker Stomper. It's okay if YOU like playing these decks, playing OTK decks is fun, I pushed into legend abusing Shaman. That's exactly why I know for a fact that this deck is busted and shouldn't exist, I literally could not lose. Even if they Speaker Stomped me, I'm jus discovering extra Flashes of Lightning and doing the combo anyway. So, in short: that's the worst argument you could have ever brought up. The deck is hard to pilot so it balances out? Only if you're doing balance through average winrate metrics from HSReplay across all ranks.

Every deck that beats hound hunter is a snowball aggro deck which creates a massive threat early that hunter can't deal with. (mech rogue, chadlock, drum druid) Secret hunter meanwhile is literally winning into every mu that isn't hound hunter, even bdk is slightly favored. Control decks are literally just hoping that they both draw perfectly to stave off hound hunter's endless midrange threats, and hoping that the hound hunter draws poorly later so that they won't be hit by 2 16/16 king krushes. I may be playing the game against hound hunter, but it's an impossible game to win. I won't defend nature shaman, that deck shouldn't be as fast as it is, and I'm glad bio is going to 4 mana. However, the deck does telegraph its otk with flash of thunder, so it's not that there's no setup, it's just that it kills too quickly. Flash of thunder can actually be interrupted with speaker stomper unlike previous telegraphed combo cards(like stormwind quest rewards) Rainbow mage in it's current form is perfectly fine though. The deck tries to control the board and get ahead on tempo with cards like keyboard and cold case while setting up for a large elemental inspiration to win. The sif OTK is only really for priest, warlock, and games where elemental inspiration fails for one reason or another. The sif OTK also maxes out at just enough damage to get through renethal, which is why bdk and control warrior do well into mage, in those matchups, the mage need to pray they can draw and get a good lady naz'jar discount, although naz'jar is completely unnecessary outside those matchups, so many lists don't even run her. Plus sif can be patchwerked and dirty ratted unlike shaman. No deck should be able to beat everything, if you have the tools to deal with mech rogue, you shouldn't also have the tools to also deal with a turn 10+ combo.(which shaman isn't, that's why I hate shaman)

I think that current OTK decks have to deal crazy damage. You said you’re fine with otk dealing 30 - ofc you are ,because your blood DK can go to 45 health with the use of one cheap card. And then extra ~10 health from the titan. Warriors can get enormous amount of armor very quickly cheaply. Mages stack armor just as quick with that 1/3 card, not to mention renethal given extra 5 to everyone, and also every class having access to bloodthirsty cards basically making one turn kill the only option to win for combo decks

I genuinely cannot pilot this deck when the opponnent has lethal at turn 4 man. It doesn't have enough of an hp recover. I'll try it when I reach legend and the Hunter plague fades a bit tbh. That's been my experience for the time being tho.

If you don't draw the sirens by the turn you need one (usually 5 or 6 in this aggressive meta), you auto-lose. That's not high skill it's just woefully inconsistent.

I believe that control rainbow mage can beat more decks than this #1 Naga deck. I'm definitely team Sif, but Sif control and not aggre. Deck is good, but not THE most optimal imho.

I really don't like decks that are meta for the absolute majority (like hunters and others), but I really like decks that become interesting weapons in the right hands, but they are useless in the hands of the majority, it seems to me Naga Mage is like this

Ok, hear me out... what about an elemental package with nagas? Both amalgam and mistake already fit in the deck, and flame geyser is very much playable there too. These alone + the 2/2 elemntal that makes your next one cost (2) less (great for setting up a siren turn with amalgam) and even better, the 4/4 elemental that draws 1 + the number of elementals played last turn could actually work. Problem is that I don't have the cards for naga mage. So if anyone has the time and the patience to test this, it would be nice.
@ClarkHellscream
@ClarkHellscream 10 месяцев назад
The problem with the elemental cards is the consistency. You already have cards to cycle your deck effectively. The mana cheat elemental doesn't help set up swings. With nagas, you're playing minions and spells that actively build board, remove your opponent's board while dealing face damage and sometimes developing secrets. Elementals can't keep up.

Play 2 reverberations. Having 2 can seriously win you the game when they play titans + shadow class. spell.
