SIG Cross User Guide and manual - how to adjust, maintain and operate
This SIG Cross user guide covers everything you need to know to enable you to adjust, maintain and shoot your SIG Cross rifle. I go through all the features of the rifle and explain and demonstrate how to make user adjustments, strip, clean, assemble and even explain how the rifle works.
The SIG CROSS is a magazine-fed, bolt action, precision rifle available in 6.5 Creedmoor, 277 SIG Fury, and 308 Winchester.
This is a serious rifle, that has been designed and manufactured with input from hunters, snipers and competitive long-range shooters.
This video can also be used as a user guide that you can refer back to, time and time again. It should be used in conjunction with the user manual, however, I have added chapters in the video so that you can easily find the section you need to get you on the right track. Where the manual explains what to do, I also show you (in detail) so that you can follow my lead and get the rifle fitted and set up exactly how you want it.
I hope you find this video useful. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch it 🙏
Thank you to the Target Sports Centre for letting me borrow the SIG Cross to make the video.

As an Old United States Marine knowing my weapons and keeping them clean has always been on top of the list. Good rations with a bottle of hot sauce is second. This video gave me "complete" understanding of this RIFLE's NOMENCLATURE and how to maintain it. Thank you Mr. Cresswell and Semper Fi

@@JonCresswellUk Sig now has a Cross firing pin and spring assembly one can purchase for backup. I mounted a Sig Tango 4 4-16X44 scope with mildot and with my cheat card, hit an eight inch steel target at 500 meters first shot. With Hornady 147 ELD and 41.5 gr H4350 reloads, with a 2550 fps muzzle, this rifle will do over 1350 meters. Lastly, my 19th Great Grandfather is Edward III King of England. UP-DATE FROM OLD MARINE. Tested on a range with 400 to 1750 yard targets. I only went for the 1200 yard 36"x36" target. Third shot was a hit...so no record. Ha! If I had a scope with 100 MOA elevation, I would have went for the 1500 yarder. "poor man with limited funds". Take care!

@AlanRoehrich9651

@@JonCresswellUk I have not shot one myself. I have various rifles in several high power calibers, including 300 Winchester Magnum. I am working on another rifle chambered in 270-300 PacNor, which is a 300 Winchester Magnum necked down to 277. It has the twist rate to stabilize the longer heavier bullets now available. It just seems to me that if I were to buy a new SIG rifle, I would buy it chambered in their new caliber that it was designed for. I have not jumped on the 6.5MM bandwagon. I have been a proponent of 6.8MM/0.277 for decades, even going so far as to tell my friend, Ronnie Barrett, 20 years ago, that the military should move to a shorter, sharp shoulder 308/7.62x51 case, necked down to 6.8MM/0.277 as a standard military chambering. I suggested a shortened and improved 277 Redding. I now feel pretty much vindicated, 0.277/6.8MM seems to be what really works. 😎

@JonCresswellUk Год назад
Sounds like you really know your stuff when it comes to calibres 👍. I’m still on a learning curve in that regard. I did get a 6.5 creedmoor as my first centre fire rifle, but I’ve recently gone to .308 - old school I know, but being ex-military it felt like the right thing to do, and I love shooting it. A lot of people have recently moved to 6mm in the PRS world, but I’m happy with a bit more punch 🥊

@@JonCresswellUk There's absolutely nothing wrong with 308 Winchester, AKA 7.62x51 NATO It is *NOT* "obsolete". It's capabilities have not suddenly reduced. It's still a very viable long range and accurate chambering. It's an excellent all around cartridge, it works extremely well in every platform, there are top drawer rifles chambered for it in every platform. You really cannot go wrong with the 308, the Model 70, the M14, the AR10, and various other rifles prove it to be an excellent and capable all around cartridge. A man with 2-3 rifles in 308/7.62x51 NATO can be considered quite well armed and equipped. Just picked one up and I'm loving it. Price has come down here in the states quite a bit, due to their early issues. Mine has been operating beautifully and putting 1/2" - 3/4" groups at 100. Point of impact changes drastically between ammo types, and some brands have much wider groups, but when it likes a bullet, it really likes it. I've heard enough good and bad reviews to believe that it's a superb rifle with so-so quality control. Just pray you get a good one, I suppose. I expect more from sig but they seem to be going downhill a bit. I love their products but they need to get their quality control together. Quick question, are your lubrication habits just your preference or did sig specifically suggest that? If so, im one lazy bastard. New to precision rifles, though, so maybe I need to up my game.
@JonCresswellUk
@JonCresswellUk 2 года назад
Ah nice 👍 one of the other comments below says 131gr bullets worked best for them, so maybe that’s a weight to try. But it sounds like the bullets you are using are giving you good results. I put an APW raptor muzzle brake on the one I used to tame the recoil. 😂 the lubrication I talk about was directly from the manual so that’s probably what I’d go with. As for my habits 🤪, they are a result of being in the military, so my brain is hard wired in cleaning my rifle after I’ve used it. I like to keep the rifle clean and lubricated so that it’s good to go when I take it out the cabinet - it also inhibits rust/corrosion.
@abettermind
@abettermind 2 года назад
@@JonCresswellUk I just got mine and if it werent for my friends, their guidance, and their handloads, I would probably be complaining about loose groups. Learning quickly and loving every minute of it. Definitely a whole different animal than my quick moving ar matches. And I really need to get better at Individualized care methods. I've always been anal about keeping things clean but I've always lubed up weapons based on my semi-auto experience. Would have never thought to drop grease on the locking lugs. I really dont think about grease much at all (other than charging handle)... Anyways, I appreciate the video. Knowing that you're running from the manual, I'll probably reference it when I tear it apart to strip my one-size-fits-all lube job and properly grease it. Nice to see detailed videos rather than some guy shaking a gun around saying "I like it" or filling it full of cement and complaining that it doesn't work anymore lol.
@JonCresswellUk
@JonCresswellUk 2 года назад
Lol true. Maintenance is kind of an individual thing, some clean loads, some let them sit until they stop, some are in the middle somewhere. I just don’t leave it to chance. I grease the lugs on my Remington and at a light coating to the bolt to keep it running smooth. Works well, but if you’re in a dry dusty climate I’d keep it dry to stop it clogging with grit or dust. Thanks for the feedback on the video. I’m trying to keep it factual and not have too much of an opinion on them - although a couple of pros and cons don’t hurt I think.

18 in (457 mm) Stainless Steel barrel, with a 1:8 right hand twist, 5 groove. The end of the barrel has a 5/8 24 teeth per inch thread. .308 and 277 SIG FURY have a 16" barrel

What brand of ring mounts do you recommend for the cross? I have a Leupold 30mm scope and don’t like the one piece I’ve got on it
@JonCresswellUk
@JonCresswellUk 2 года назад
This rifle was just borrowed to make the video. On my personal rifle, I have dolphin gun company high mounts that work well. If you have a 30mm scope I would probably go for medium height mounts. Vortex Optics also make some good quality, reasonably priced mounts. They are more expensive, but Rottigni Officina Mechanica make some excellent quality scope mounts (this is what I'm hoping to get for my next rifle).

Not sure if your problem was solved, you could purchase a shim kit. 👍🇨🇦
@SOSdoorgunner69
@SOSdoorgunner69 Год назад
Shim kit? Sig is big company, They can make a 0 moa main scope rail for the Cross which is suppose to be a hunting rifle of the future. I have a 10lb Ruger RPR if I want to shoot 1000yards at steel. 500 uards is all you should expect from a neat little package like the cross. why it comes with a 20 moa rail makes no sense. thats a lot of "inches" at 500 yards for your scope to male up for. makes no sense. tried to call but no one has a clue about the simplest things. even the idea of barrel swap outs is barely getting under way. and at about the 1/2 price of enitire rifle, m8ght as well buy a whole rifle. Its just an aluminum rail with a couple of screws. a ten minute change. then we could use nice affordable hunting scopes. not 3000.00 target scopes. that sweet spot is small in affprdable scopes, even thier own! I owm 4 sig scopes and they are not exactly Leupolds when it comes to clarity or quality. a shim kit, where do you get those? lol shims?? really..shims?
@SOSdoorgunner69
@SOSdoorgunner69 Год назад
Thanks for the link guy. I have been sending them notes and they never answer..I asked about 6.5 barrels and if a kit will be coming out. but it appears that the 308 is just coming out and they are out if stock. so thats that for 6.5 for me.Ill just stick to my 308. good video. wonder if somwone doing a video could put them on the spot? there is absolutely no reason for 20 moa on a "hunting rifle of the future" platform. unless if you want to try 1000 yard shots.. every gun company now has thier 10 lb. long range rifles out there. the Cross fit the bill for hunting and short competitions like the 500 yard ones. some of us have no 1000 yard ranges in entire state. never mind 1500 yards. thanks again for the video and tips.

Why did they make breaking down (folding ) the buttstock so darn hard. It's the worst part of a very good rifle. I just leave it, which causes it to be longer in a gun case or backpack. JMHO
