Your PcP bias is showing. I wish people would stop referencing PcP's when reviewing or talking about non-PcP airguns. They are two different things. People that like, and buy high-end springers are aware that there are PcP options too, but it's not relevant. It doesn't matter how cheap PcP's get, they will ALWAYS require a higher initial investment, more steps to use, and more stuff to haul around. It's basically two different hobbies (Traditional vs. PcP). Why not ask if $300 dollar PcP's are relevant in a market where you can get a good black-powder rifle for that price? Or if a $300 black-powder rifle is relevant in a market where you can get a good centerfire for that price?

Amen. While PCP's may have some advantages at longer distances, Who cares. They are still just air rifles. Spring pistons are plenty good enough and the best part is they are self sufficient and don't break the bank. No expensive tanks, compressors etc.

This is very good accuracy for a powerful springer! This isn't a PCP guys, keep that in mind. I would lean towards the .22 caliber to control the power, and better for most hunting applications.

I agree. People get too used to seeing all these super tiny PCP groupings and forget what it takes to put a solid group down at near 50 yards with a springer/gas ram.

I've owned this gun in synthetic .22 for about a month..... Color me IMPRESSED! During my search for an accurate break barrel, everyone seemed to recommend the WK97 or the Beeman R9...... but those guns are 2x or more the money! Out of the box my Sig shot 1/2" groups, and after break in (500 rounds) has consistently shot 10 shot groups at both 15 & 20 yrds that I can cover with a dime. This gun is a tad louder than I'd like, and the only real thing I dislike about it is the location of the safety..... it's just awkward. I'd like to see a head to head accuracy test of this gun and the other two I mentioned (WK97 & R9)...... I suspect the Sig would equal or come out on top.....and considering the price difference, the only way the Sig would not be the top gun in the airgun break barrel world....would be due to brand "snobbery"/favoritism.

Any powerful (20 fpe+) break-barrel airgun could also be called a "scope breaker" airgun. Thus, the greatest minus here is the lack of a good, reliable, open sights - just enough efficient for the purpose of this gun: lite category hunting and back yard plinking up to 50 yards.

I've seen a few of these accuracy tests with this rifle and the Sig brand pellets work vastly better than anything else in this rifle. Maybe order a box or two of their pellets and give it a go? And on a side note, when they used the Sig pellets this rifle killed the competition. I'm holding out for the synthetic stock, which will give me a lot of time to keep comparing how this rifle performs before deciding to buy one or not.

I completely agree. Either of my hw 77's (long barrel versions) do better consistently. The newer one, in .22 is still untuned. But to be fair, it was a great video and he was still searching for the right pellet(s). To be fair to the rifle, us comparing our Weihrauchs to any cheaper underlever, is like trying to compare a Ford sedan to a Mercedes Benz. Happy shooting. :)

I quite like the look of the ASP20 & certainly like to have the opportunity to test as when it arrives here in the UK., i doubt it will sell though,too expensive based on the US prices, i can see it becoming a curiosity sale,there are too many Premium 'Springers' already established here,Air Arms,Weihrauch et al, we shall see,supposed to reach our shores late 2019!!

some info. reality check. beware the Weight issue. at eight to nine pounds, these rifles are HEAVY. i admit i am not muscular or young. a couple years ago i purchased a benjamin22. the amount of mass located towards the muzzle, makes shoulder firing, all but impossible. if sig really wanted to break new ground, they should have reduced the weight by a third. i am left with this question. were the sample pellets screened for radial symmetry; so there would be less chance of 'flyers'. screening is simple. roll each pellet on a smooth and slightly tilted surface; a mirror or glass pane will work. (there's a video, somewhere) googletranslate

Why would you pay more for a wood stock that looks like synthetic?
@allanwind295
@allanwind295 5 лет назад
This is a very well done video. Informative, straight forward, constructive and I especially like the work you guys did in post-processing with figures, ctc measurements etc. Close up of the breach would have been useful. Are those rings too tall, or is the butt of the stock too low? You don't seem to get a good cheek weld at all when you shoulder it. Is the safety manual or automatic? I have come to passionately hate automatic safeties. When you shoot it, it seems to jump around with some muzzle flip. Is that on par for high-end springers (Weihrauch, Air Arms)? Cocking sounded smooth. Did you have to tighten stock screws over your 1000 shots? Would it be accurate to say it's pellet fuzzy?
@tylerpatner6591
@tylerpatner6591 5 лет назад
The beard creates some difficulty when getting the proper cheek weld, but it was solid for me. The safety is manual. If you compare it to an Air Arms or HW springer, it's not nearly as calm or smooth shooting, but I've never seen a gas ram that is. I did check the stock screws around 500 shots in, they were still tight, just checked now, still tight. For the gun we tested, yes, pellet fussy would be accurate. But that's going to vary gun to gun in my experience.

Fairly new to airguns, but I am confused as to why reviewers always compare spring or piston guns to PCP guns? With what little research I've done, they are two totally different animals, and shooting a PCP gun requires WAY more money for the necessary "accessories" such as compressors (I can't physically use a hand pump) and fittings/hoses/filters. Even the cheapest PCP gun plus a decent compressor puts the money in the $1k range...... this gun is only $329 in synthetic stock...... add a rated $70-$100 scope, a can of pellets and you're shooting. I'm actually waiting on a Diana 34 to arrive today.... and if it doesn't have the accuracy I demand, was thinking of the SIG next...... BUT..... although there are many reviews on the SIG, I find it interesting that they vary widely in their accounts of accuarcy. ????

I can’t understand why it’s worth 400 dollars. That seems insane to me. You could get many rifles for 400 dollars. It seems pellet fussy. It’s not more accurate then my Gamo Swarm. It needs to be multi shot for that price. Then I’d consider it. I’d like to see you do the New Umarex Reign and Gamo Boxer.
