I'm glad you were able to get some information about the barrel from Sig. I called them and they wouldn't even tell me if they used 4150 steel or the cheaper 4140. I'm guessing it is 4150, but there is no way I would buy this rifle unless they give out that information.
THE TREAD HAS THE SAME FEATURES,EXACTLY AS THE SDI,WITHOUT THE COST.I PAYED 850,1450,AFTER THE UPGRADES,BACK UP SIGHTS,SIG MSR RED DOT,RADION RANDOM CHARGER,CMC TRIGGER,BETTER OR AS GOOD AS THE ONE FEATURED.1450 OR 1250, I HAVE A 416R STAINLESS STEEL BARREL,16 INCH,WHICH I PREFER,200 BUCKS FOR EVERY BEST TRIGGER,CHARGER,PARTICLE INSPECTED GUN MONEY CAN BUY.I CONSIDER MY 13 INCH REPLACEMENT HANDGUARD IS VENTED NOT LIKE THE ORIGINAL TREAD,WHICH GOT HOT AFTER A COUPLE OF MAGS.I CAN AFFORD MORE,FOR WHAT???
I just purchased one! None of the things you were saying about it really bother me! I know they don’t jam up there barrel and triggers are very good quality. Looks nice. 👍
I love my m400, have it few years now with no problems whatsoever. Changed the barrel, gas block, hand guard and bcg. Went to FN chf 1:7 twist chrome lined mid length instead of the factory stainless steel 1:8, went with centurion quad rail, SRM adjustable gas block and cryptic coating bcg in chrome and this thing can operate at much higher temps than almost all bcg’s on the market. Cryptic has the best quality bcg for the price. Runs like a Swiss watch and can pump rounds all day
@dragonsofthunder my guess is he has the tread v2, not the SDI. Ppl somehow confuse the different gen tread rifles. The sdi has a better handguard, barrel, weight, and lower than any of the other m400 variants. Assuming he has the v1 or v2 tread, I can totally understand his upgrades. But if he did that to the SDI, he removed value from the gun lol. The only thing I'd REPLACE on the SDI is the bcg, it seems pretty vanilla compared to everything else packed into this gun
100% recommend sig m400's been using them for years super reliable. you can find them cheap sometimes too if you shop around. the strange proprietary rails are kinda an issue but just pick the one with the rail you need and you wont need to change it.
The m400 arrives covered in a rust inhibiting coating. SIG customer service just says to clean it all off. Asked if it should be cleaned off of barrel and gas tube under the hand guard too, and the lower receiver insides. She said yes. I was like I need to remove the hand guard on a new gun like this? So difficult to get a real interaction so far with this company. Not pleased on that front.
its more aimed at Competition, The M and P volunteer series is also really nice and more Aimed at defensive use. sigs Defensive guns would be the tread or mpx line.
So I did buy it. I have no complaints or anything bad to say about it. However the first guy that replied to me was right. It feels very much like a sporting competition gun. I'm sure it would work great in any use case scenario but it doesn't feel mean. Like my buddies AK feels mean to shoot. It's flings lead like crazy and cracks through the sound barrier. I really like my M400 X Series though. I got the Sig Romeo and Juliet sights for it. It's so pretty I have it displayed on the wall in my office. It feels very precise and surgical to shoot. Have fun with it.
I have the Sig M400 tread and bought the 15” mlok forend that’s better than the stock one, watching your review this is what the tread should of been from the start but my tread has been a fantastic worry free rifle. My next AR will be this X series
Was at Sig Experience in Epping today. Salesman said it's a 2 lbs pull with 2.5 lbs break I believe. It felt nice. Im probably going to pick one up tomorrow now after playing with it.
I have a Sig M400 from like 5 yrs ago, it came with the UTG freefloat Mlok rail, which is... ok. Yeah, SIG has QC issues, always have for some reason. Luckily, my Sig M400 still runs great, 1000's of rounds later.
Right, I picked mine up a week ago as a standard human and there are still no reviews out there. Still haven't sent a round through it yet but this weekend, fingers crossed.
I had the same issues with the screw length and had to file screws at every location that was mounted along the barrel, otherwise, the screws hit the barrel before they were tight. That's the only fault I have with the rifle, but I love mine.
Not a bad rifle for $1250 although i believe a very similar rifle could be assembled for arout $900- 1000 bucks if a person has some patience to wait for deals. Overall nice rifle man have fun with it.
Recently purchased a m400 sdi x, and it has been great. Only problem ive found is magpul gen m2 will not latch. Metal mags and gen m3 work fine. I have tried adjusting mag catch/release but still doest like gen 2, moe.
Thx for the review! have been wanting to get this gun for a while now but had to do the research first.I'm going to pull the trigger on this one ,so to speak... same price as yours. as for your modifications...I have done mods to every gun I own and what you did worked so...not sooo ugly \m/
Good review! Enjoying mine quite a bit. Which Magpul handguard did you end up with? Only other accessory I'm considering before I send er off for Cerakote.
Wow, the mlok clearance between rail and barrel makes this a no-go. Thanks for heads up. I’d be extremely pissed to discover this after purchasing. Good video and review, thanks.
It's a low profile mlok reel, I'm sure you could have probably found shorter screws. my sig tread 716i also has it but ive had no problems with after market gear. The one you have is aimed more at competition right? been looking at the sig spear lt.
@@GodGunsGills I know lol but I’m tryna budget it out right now I have the m400 tread a cz scorpion s2 it’s a smaller version of the regular scorpion everyone has, a cz p09, a Glock 19 and a M&p performance center for the price of the bcm I can get this sig and another handgun times are a little hard now and I love these m400 series
