My pops purchased the 870$ model from sportsmans a week ago or so and I purchased this Romeo and Juliet red dot magnifier combo just waiting on arrival to install an test it out.
Is there a way to put a Picatinny style rail section across entire top of the handguard? I love the lighter snakebite handguard, but I really want to have a Picatinny style rail down the entire top of hand guard. Sort of like the m400 SDI x series. It would be so simple if they made that hand guard available to buy.
Same. CMC makes a great trigger. That's really the only must change item, IMO. I also changed my hand guard to the more skeletonized 13 inch handguard.
Great review. They don't come with yellow badges anymore, but mine came with Skeletal 2 stage trigger with Romeo5. Paired it with Juliet4 and Sig iron sights, Compensator, ambi charging handle, lancer smoke mags, magpul bipod and some Tread m400 accessories. I'm surprise this thing has superb quality for an entry level and its price range. I just have to figure out between surefire or streamlight. Worth every penny, let's see how it performs.
You’re right about the magnified red dot covering your target at longer ranges. I’m running a magnified red dot on my rifle too but I went with a Holosun HS503g because it has the ACSS reticle. It doesn’t use a dot but instead a horseshoe with a ^ chevron in the middle so it never covers your target. It also has a BDC that goes out to 600 yards. Pretty unique for a red dot and it’s actually usable as long as you have the magnifier. I just found your channel a few days ago and I’m digging it. I’m going through your videos and I’m learning a lot. I’m half Korean myself so it’s good to see another Korean brother who’s into shooting.
Thanks for the info brother and it's always welcome to see fellow Korean who is into shooting. Looking at your profile picture I thought it was a Korean traditional hat so kinda wonder if you were a Korean ^^
I purchased m400 from Turners outdoorsman. I love the look and the whole function of it. Got it for $950. Reliable ar and good looking rifle. Thanks for this review! 🏆
Saw one of these at my local gun store last week with with a kind of bronze barrel and flash hider/compensator like you mentioned. Very pretty rifle and I would say you have about best review on it thus far. The one I saw was called the snake bite.
Agreed, best buy once cry once for the price. I have the tread coil but still m400 is so underrated with mid length DI, ampi almost everything, came with many extras others at that price don't have. Best value AR IMO. Thanks!
That's the M400 Tread SnakeBite, which does NOT have a 2 stage match trigger. The 2 stage match trigger comes on the M400 Tread SnakeBite Special Edition model, which has a black buttstock and a FDE color barrel and compensator/flashhider combo. The regular snakebite has a silver barrel and regular black flash suppressor only, which is what you have. It also has the lowest trigger in the M400 tread lineup.
Thanks for the vid, I actually just bought one and hadn't seen a better review than this prior to my buy. I'll subscribe. I live in VA too - how about that
If it’s 5.56 or .223 Wylde you can shoot .223 or 5.56 but the .223 Remington is a civilian cartridge and when NATO got ahold of it they increased the pressure of the cartridge a bit to improve reliability. So it is not advisable to shoot 5.56 out of a .223 Remington barrel. Thanks again for your fun videos!
If I would have seen this earlier I may have bought this ar. I looked at a tread m400 so many times. I felt like I needed the tread. Then one time picking up a ruger ar 556 Mpr it felt so much better lighter the furniture felt better and the trigger felt better. It took one time with the ruger to know it was the one. The sig was so many times going back to the shop and never buying it
I wonder if the rifle was the version without the match grade trigger. I believe there are 3 types, one standard with full length rail, a snakebite version with match grade trigger, and snakebite color without match grade trigger but with red dot included. Might’ve ordered it online with the incorrect description in the product line, just a thought.
This gun isn't "entry level" in my opinion... it's more towards mid level. It has options and accessories that are better than my Colt. Not a fan of the free floating barrel because it separates the handguard from the barrel... which helps with accuracy. Other than those two minimal problems, it runs like a champ and I've only had one failure to feed in over a thousand rounds. Fucking love Sig.
Romeo is great and Juliet is not necessary and it only adds the weight to your rifle. When you are shooting free hand weight of rifle becomes very important.
7:30 have you tried the Magpul D 60? It’s as dependable as a Magpul magazine gets, but you get 60 rounds in a drum very small package. In my mind it is the perfect attachment if you’re not worried about weight but even then it’s just the way of the extra bullets
@@vameathunter2771 Nice! I like them so much that I have two that I use, and I have two that are still in the box because who knows about the future 🤷♂️. Did I also forget to mention that I irresponsibly spend on stuff like this? LOL. Pay on credit card and pay it right off with cash for points. Not ruining my credit. Just Love collecting for different scenarios. One is a jack of all trades, ones up close up, ones long range… Etc.
I took my Romeo and Juliet off my Sig Sauer M400 Snakebite SE and replaced it with a Leupold vx freedom 3-9x40...the rifle comes from the factory with a 2 stage Matchlite trigger....I'll let you know how it shoots after I get to the Range
@@vameathunter2771 the group size did shrink down a little bit...but not as accurate as I thought it might be. Maybe 1.5 moa or 1.25 moa at 100 yards ...I'm more of a Bolt action rifle kind of Guy
Yes for hunting you should get a regular scope power x3-9 or x4-12 depending on shooting distance. When I'm hunting 90% is a heart shot because I want it to drop ASAP (better for the animal and me) and I want to place the bullet where I want it with high precision. For the money I recommend Burris Fullfiled ($200), I have done many video on this scope and if you can afford it go with Leupold($300-$400).
@@vameathunter2771 What are your thoughts on the Romeo 5 with say a vortex or Juliet magnifier for deer/coyote hunting? The only Reason I ask is because the M 400 I’m looking at comes with a Romeo five and I would hate to have a red dot just laying there not being used
It's unfortunate because PSAs higher end options have a better chf barrel and are more accurate and just as durable. Sig is known for their higher end rifles. If it didn't have Sigs name on it, this rifle would be closer to $700
I've heard some people talk trash about this rifle, specially about "Tread" marketing thing. Honestly, for about a 1000 bucks you're not gonna do much better as far as AR's go.
I'm newer to these types of guns i just bought a Ruger MPR chambered in ,223/5.56 18 inch barrel. I ordered the romeo Juliet combo. Can you just move the red dot behind the magnifier? That way it isn't magnifying the red dot just the target? Im New so don't laugh at me. I have shot guns, and wheel guns, lever guns.... 😁
Dude, WHERE ARE YOUR EARS?? I know 556 doesnt emit the LOUDEST percussion but its absolutely loud enough to cause permanent damage. + you'll look a lot cooler (and smarter lol) w/ some nice hearing protection than you will walking around w/a hearing aid or shouting "WHAT?!?!" every time somebody speaks to you lol. On the subject itself, the M400 is a great rifle. I got one when they 1st came out (the "enhanced" magpul carbine ver.) I DO NOT like that yellow "TREAD" branding on the handguard but everything else looks great! I think my next setup will have a FDE Cerakote/Guncoat/equiv. I just love the way a finished receiver set looks 🤩 Also have the Romeo5 I need to 0 in, wasnt sure if I should get the Juliet or not...
I wear ear plugs for hearing protection, it's tighter and does not interfere with buttstock😁, eye and ear protections are required and I volunteer as a range officer😆. Yes, I hate the yellow branding as well and you can remove it. I would not recommend Juliet because it also increase red dot size X3 as well so it doesn't help much with longer shots. Thanks for watching and your concern for my ears, I appreciate you brother.
@@vameathunter2771 Hell yeah, didnt see the plugs in but thats good. also good to know w/ the Juliet, thx for saving me the hassle lol. So, is there a magnifier out there that doesnt increase the reticle size? Or is it a matter of the reticle size in the optic itself? I've never used a combo/magnifier setup like that but it seems like it'd be a nice configuration to work with... Do you prefer something like this or a variable 1-4x, 2-8x?
@@superrad1659 There is some magnifier that doesn't increase the size of the dot but it's very expensive. Under 50 yards red dot is faster but beyond 50 yards 2-8x scope would be better and I have scope and the red dot on my AR15 and you'll see it in future 3 gun competition video. 😁
Breath between shots. On the breath before your shot, exhale longer than you inhaled. Stop exhaling and hold your breath when you have about 10% breath left in your lungs then squeeze off the shot. This breathing slows your heart rate and lowers your blood pressure before you take your shot. Bet your groups get tighter.👌😎
I just bought a longer MLok handguard 15" vs. the 13.5" it comes with for that exact reason...looks 100% better without the yellow tread and with the barrel less exposed (imo)
Try the Sig Whisky 3. I put it on my Tread Coil. I can put 30rds within the diameter of a quarter. I have the eotech 518 with the 3x magnifier on my bushmaster. The whiskey 3 is amazing and affordable.
@@vameathunter2771 nice content. Firm Handshakes 🤝. You will love the whisky 3.... very easy to dial in. I use the eotech for close and mid range with the Sig Tread for the long range. Also get a muzzle break that has vents on both sides. Looks like the 50cal muzzle. It will keep the gun extremely level.
All righty then, Picked up the Sig Sauer M400 Predator (Gen 1) $740.00 new. First impressions after taking it apart and shooting 50-600 yards topped with a Vortex Diamondback TAC 4-16x42 and I switched to a Burris Sig HD 5-25x50mm for 500-600 yards >>> was the trigger and charging handle, they suck! This was suppose to be a hunting rifle, "predator" where's the extended or oversized charging handle and 1.5/2lbs. trigger pull? Upgrades just for the CH/Trigger are $220 on sale. Moving on, 85gr Barnes, 77gr AAC SMK , 75gr AAC Hornady, 75gr HSL Hornady, 68gr Frontier Hornady and 55gr HSL Hornady all BTHP shot sub MOA consistently except 55gr. The 85/77/75/68 grainers achieved .18 to -1" 5 shot groups. 500-600 yards was easy, round plate 1" @500 hit 6 times 50/50 5 shots each with 85/77gr. 75gr scored 4 hits &1 nick (10 shots) on 1", 68gr 1 nick/hit on 1" @ 500. @600 yards was a silhouette, all made 100% hits, 55gr was only used to 300 yards best group was .6 most groups were +- MOA. As for the rest of the rifle, I absolutely feel it is all I could hope for in a benchrest/hog AR Platform. I am swapping the trigger for a GEISSELE SUPER SEMI-AUTOMATIC ENHANCED (SSA-E) TRIGGER- 05-160 and also the charging handle out with a Aero Precision AR15 Breach Charging Handle - Large Black Ambidextrous. Low rings are perfect, no need to adjust cheek riser. The buttstock will be moved over to a second DIY AR with a 20" ER SHAW fluted Wylde SP platform. An UTG S4 will be placed on the Predator, no need for cheek riser. All in all, with 85/77/75gr Hornady/SMK/Barnes shot via the M400 is just as accurate as most bolt guns. With the stock trigger it is easy to pull your shots, take your time and do your part and this rifle will perform very well. Use middle finger on trigger with your fore finger placing slight pressure back on trigger guard, it helps. I also cleaned the barrel down to the steel, bore scope showed a very well made barrel with the gas port on the groove (well done) not the lands. Crown was perfect and the chambering was perfect. Rifle was tested by manufacture, I was surprised with the amount of copper in the barrel and it was oozing oil. All good... GL all!
Congrats bro! sounds like you know your rifle and I heard good things about GEISSELE SUPER SEMI-AUTOMATIC ENHANCED (SSA-E)😁. Thanks for sharing and God bless.
