my 365xl came without a safety. bought it new from the store.

Shoot what you feel comfortable with, if you have certainty with your trigger and muzzle disciple then a safety on a striker fired gun is null and void. If it makes you uneasy then keep the the gun with the safety 👍

It’s funny how we show every malfunction from any gun we shoot on camera. It’s a machine, training for malfunctions wouldn’t occur if guns never malfunction.

If that gun had the trigger blade safety then I wouldn’t want the MTS. Since this gun does not have a blade safety I would want the MTS.

The functionality of the Sig is nearly identical to bladed trigger like Glock, the difference is that it’s internal.

Safeties make guns safer. When you have children/grandchildren, safety is very, very important. If you don't want a safety, it's because you value your lifee more than accidentally shooting a child.

Absolutely thank you for watching! I shoot the 48 better myself and if I had to choose one or the other I may go with the 48 not because it’s necessarily better but because it’s better for me. I just wish I had the new variant with the optics ready cuts already! We did a review of the 48 on our channel also if you want to check it out!

I agree with all points you have made! Only one I slightly disagree with is quality, glocks are very rudimentary in design compared to the Sig product but they just will not fail. They are built well and use magical fairy dust in the slide finish that wears much better than Sig products. Both are excellent pistols.

@@HuntFishShootChannel Well... Believe it or not I’m leaving the gun store right now with a G48! My last one was the silver finished slide type, this is the front slide serration black model with the better barrel. $469... Austrian made of course... and yeah you’re right construction quality is very similar between this and the regular 365 model I compared it to. As it stands right now the only pistols that I am running are Glock’s and 1911/(2011’s)... after owning dozens of pistols this is where I ended up with. The only other platform I’ve been liking is the P320... getting mixed results but the modular design intrigues me.

I carry a 320 for duty use and it’s an excellent gun and shoots great!

The P365XL seems to be a more “pointable” and better value gun

Correct but seeing as how most people don’t train or practice nearly enough it poses a problem. I would prefer it be a larger paddle too, easier to deactivate.

If you don't train you shouldn't have the gun on you in the first place. The safety isn't an issue if you train with your ccw. It is also optional if you don't want it, and if you do you can add one easily.

The safety design is poor and an after thought on this pistol. It’s very small and doesn’t aid in deactivation if crap his the fan. You can train it all you want, but when your fine motor skills crap out and and you don’t noticed the nearly flush safety lever of the 365, it could cost you just enough time to make a difference. Think outside the box. I train with 1911s, 2011s and the safety of them isn’t an issue, it’s intuitive and easy to sweep upon grip Acquisition. Throughout the video I used the safety because it was there, but there is no need for one on todays modern day striker fired pistols and their internal safeties. 🪙🪙

You never have a problem when your adrenaline spikes and your bodies fight or flight response activates? These are things you have to think about. At the end of the day you carry and do what you feel comfortable with, but I encourage everyone to think outside the box, just a touch.

@@HuntFishShootChannel Guess the packages have varied given your experience. Just purchased my 365XL two weeks ago and it came w/ the two 12-rounders in the case. Curious, what type of LE are you in? I was a federal prosecutor many years ago for several years in Louisiana, then moved on to private practice, now retired lawyer.

They do change I think based off dealer. I somewhat keep that anonymous but I’ll leave you with this we wear big hats 😂 and I’m not a park ranger.

i must be the lucky one, i purchased my 365XL came with a great case, steel lock and 3 12 round mags, and a inside / outside waist ban holster.. the mag springs are super stiff, i had to buy a mag loader from amazon to get all 12 rounds in....

If you are worried about your kids accessing your firearm and that’s why you want the safety. You have to address that issue appropriately.

@@HuntFishShootChannel yes, but a manual safety for conceal carry can always be left on the off position and it would never cost your life. Just like the principal of having the gun itself, you hope to be r have to use it for self-defense, as you can also die in a shootout, but it’s just there for you to choose ti use the pistol or not.

You are correct, although in my opinion it’s a good trade off for someone who deals with slide bite like I do without it.

I have the P365 XL and wear the Tulster Oath AIWB and the beaver tail doesn't dig in at all. It's the most comfortable conceal carry pistol by far.

It’s not asinine, it’s an opinion backed by real world evidence. You could train that way on a defensive handgun, and then what happens when you forget you have the safety on? I’ll answer that, you will waste precious time in a stressful situation. Also I clearly state, safeties have a place, just not on handguns for self defense, with the exception of 1911/2011 platforms. Again this is an opinion held by myself and many others, you are entitled to yours of course! Thank you for watching!

I would think that if you train with the safety then forget when/if that same safety is on, then your training failed. Blame the training not the safety. Some people love safeties, lol.

A safety is still mechanical and can fail. A gun is only truly “safe” when it’s unloaded. If your gun is in a holster, then that trigger will never pull and the gun will never fire. Pretty simple.

Some people don’t understand gross motor skills and the way your brain operates under stress. Having a safety on a defensive weapon is just an extra step that isn’t necessary, let alone you may forget it under duress. When using a handgun to defend your life, the idea is to get rounds on target accurately and as fast as possible. That extra time, even if minimal, of taking the safety off, could mean your life. Lot of people on here defending safeties without any actual real world experience. To me, someone who claims that their defensive gun has to have a safety, tells me that they are not confident enough in their training to keep their finger off the trigger. It tells me that their need for a safety is simply inexperience with their firearms. Usually people with safeties, are the types of people that if they had a gun without a safety, they would carry on an empty chamber. Clearly there are a lot of people who need a LOT more training in the comments.

I do prefer the Glock but not because of a downfall from Sig it’s just personal preference. The XL is a sweet gun I like it a lot! Some people do like safeties on defensive handguns but not I!

Depends on what your use is, both are great options. The 365XL is slim and more compact and will Not be as enjoyable to shoot for fun and holds less rounds. The MR920 is more like a full size yet still compact enough for EDC yet big enough for a fighting pistol. the 920 will be a much better shooting experience but that’s because of size. Hope this helps!

It's hard not to like it when you see it in person. She is an eye catcher.. I don't even like compacts and I went in there to buy a full size range pistol but walked out with it as soon as the shop let me shoot it in the range. It's a small gun that shoots way better and more accurate than any small gun has any business doing at 50 yards. The balance on it in hand is outstanding.

Ok Adam, we are sorry you feel that way. I don’t have personal issues with safeties. In fact I carry a Staccato C2 off duty nearly 98% of the time and it’s got a grip safety and thumb safety. My issue with the safety on the Sig 365 is it’s too small mostly. In addition to this it’s unnecessary on a gun like the 365 which has internal safeties. If you really want my actual opinion it’s as silly as someone who won’t carry a round in a chamber as a safety is on a gun like this. That would be a personal subjective opinion. In the Initial review I’m sorry if you took this personally, because if you like safeties on it then by all means you should have it. 👍

Yes you can get the P365 slide cut for an optic.

Fair enough, there’s not really a reality for myself personally where I will like a safety on a handgun outside of 1911/2011, but that’s just me!

@@HuntFishShootChannel I went no safety myself, but if they had hung a safety that was as ergonomic as the one on my 1911 I would have been all over it. A lot police out there still walking and talking because the bad guy couldn't make the gun go bang after they took the officer's away from him.

@@HuntFishShootChannel - I have the 365XL with safety (ONLY because that was the only model Academy Sports had in stock the day I was ready to buy) and RomeoZero. Deadly accurate for a compact, though my local range doesn’t go 50 yards.

But I don’t train with it, it’s not my gun. Regardless it’s a poor safety design with nearly no paddle for sweeping, it’s an afterthought. But sure with training and practice you can train it in, but its also proven in self defense situations and fine motor skills are greatly diminished, so might as well cut out a redundancy. But we are all entitled to our opinions! That’s the beauty of it

Not an afterthought like on a S&W Shield. I find this one perfect. Small enough for concealing, big enough to use.

That’s because it’s a requirement. Much like the M9 had them, yet SOF units used a G19 or P226 with no safety. There’s a reason behind that methodology

Negligent discharges are just that, negligent. Shooter error, lack of training and a lack of trigger awareness. They aren’t rants the majority of striker fired pistols which have a safety have poor safety ergonomics. Hence why I don’t like them for the striker fired guns and do not mind them on single action guns. Yes you can train disengagement, I managed it for this gun in 200 rounds, yet the safety design still sucks. That is of course subjective, but compare this pistol to a comparable 1911 and tell me which thumb safety is built into the design and user friendly.

No because I don’t care either. But a lot of folks do. 99 percent of shooters are more accurate than the pistol they are shooting but many people think they are.

The truth is that this Sig is my cousin’s concealed carry weapon. I will agree that safeties are important for some handguns i.e. the Browning action (1911) or some people who are uncomfortable carrying a loaded firearm. Not my gun again, the best safety is and always will be trigger/muzzle discipline. Safeties themselves can fail and are not full proof hence the trigger/muzzle discipline which ultimate can nullify a safety on a defensive handgun. I don’t recommend ever removing a safety from a firearm if it was manufactured with it, it will first void the warranty and secondly pistols with safeties that are removed then alters the firing pin block and can at times alter whether it’s drop safe or not. Spend enough time carrying a gun and you will drop a loaded one. You are correct most handguns do not come with safeties, for good reason. I’ll leave you with this, there is a litany of statistical information about the human condition in self defense situations where people cannot remember a simple fine motor skill of turning a safety off. Therefor in practice and support from factual information and catalogued incidents, a safety on a defensive handgun could cost you the second you need to get a shot off and save your life or someone else’s in a critical incident. The large paddle of a 1911 safety and this are nothing alike. This sits nearly flush with the slide vs a 1911 which is nearly a 1/4” out. But hey we never shoot 1911 regardless of how many different 1911 reviews have been done.

@@HuntFishShootChannel, In my opinion, we are talking about two different things- You are reviewing the design and ergonomics of the thumb safety. My training with my 1911 is the same as I train with the XL P365. I am drawing from AIWB as my hands meet my right thumb slides down to disengage the safety with an audible click. It is the same as I do with my 1911. That is what I want to convey in 1st statement.

Ok the motion is the same. We can agree, but the safety design on this is an afterthought and a design to said in concealment which doesn’t lend itself to ease of deactivation like a 1911 one. You are certainly correct in the training aspect of it without a doubt.

Few shots or first few mags? The first shot was a malfunction meaning it didn’t go bang? Malfunctions are always bad.

Enjoyed your video also b/c I'm getting older and for the first time in my life, I feel somewhat physically vulnerable whereas I never did before simply due to my age. Planning on taking a CC course soon to get my license so I can CC when I know I might be going into/through a part of my city where I might need to protect myself. I served on a State grand jury several years ago and came to realize how the slightest disagreement can escalate to gun violence so quickly. We heard cases where shootouts occurred among people who didn't know each other but who exchanged "hostile looks" just prior to gunfire erupting. Cheers from Lafayette, LA!

@@HuntFishShootChannel I will get training, am on a waiting list for a CC course taught by a local deputy sheriff here, probably next month or September. I am acutely aware of the risks of having to use deadly force against another human being, including physical, emotional, moral and legal, so training is essential. Indeed, it is mandatory under State law in Louisiana, even though some members of the Legislature offered a bill this past session to literally do away with any requirement for a CC license and training, which bill thankfully was either withdrawn or tabled in committee. You have to shoot what you are comfortable with but the safety design with this in particular is not intuitive nor easy to activate. The safety mechanism used by Sig in the non safety version of this or the P320 is nearly identical as a Glock it’s just internal as opposed to an external trigger shoe bar. Again there isn’t anything wrong with a safety as long as you train with it and know it’s got to be turned off when your fine motor skills disappear in a gunfight. Thank you for watching!

@@HuntFishShootChannel Spot on...remember also the trigger safety on a Glock is 100% passive, it was bascially designed to make the Glock drop safe. Unfortuantely many people talk of the Glock trigger safety as if it was a "real" safety.
